I read about this place here on Yelp so I told my husband we had to go try! So glad we went! Luckily, the light was on so we bought a dozen assorted. HEAVENLY! The icing could be a little lighter but other than that the doughnuts were so yummy! They have a drive-thru which I discovered is open 24 HOURS! The assortment isn't huge but the general favorites are available. One surprise.....buy a dozen and they make it a BAKER'S DOZEN! It's hard not to be a fan of donuts. I have no doubt that Golden Donuts fries the best donuts in Columbus. Are these the best donuts I've ever had? Nope. Donut King blows these donuts away (http://www.yelp.com/biz/donut-king-minneola) but since we are a couple hundred of miles from Donut King we decided to try these while on vacay. The shop is in a not so great part of town. The employee working the counter was nice though and they have a drive thru. We got a variety of donuts to try. I would compare these to Krispy Kreme. They are very, very similar to them in size, shape and flavor. We did snag some pull apart glazed donut thing that had just come off the belt and they were warm and delicious. Overall they did not have a huge selection but they had all the most popular types. I think my favorite thing I tried from Golden Donuts was their glazed cinnamon roll. One of the original business in Columbus. It's been around my entire life for good reason. The donuts are amazing and soft.

What do they make these out of? Crack? I'm a pretty mellow guy. I try to be a good person and share my bounty with others, but come near my Golden doughnut and I will snarl at you like a dog protecting his bone. They cost next to nothing; angels sing when you bite into them. OK, so doughnuts are really not good for you, but self control is overrated. The glazed doughnuts are every bit as good as Krispy Kreme but much less costly. They have plenty of varieties of doughnuts there too. I have to say that I'm not as wild about their cake doughnuts. They have a diner like "doughnut" hole in the wall shop (see what I did there) that has a counter to sit a and a drive up window get your fix a la go go. If you go inside you can see the freshly made glazed doughnuts travelling across the conveyor - hot and fresh - which, by the way, is how they will give them to you. read more

Better than Krispy Kreme. Yes, believe it or not these donuts just taste better and there's more dough in them than Krispy Kreme. The prices are a little cheaper than Krispy Kreme, but when you buy a dozen mixed you can get dozen glazed for $11!! That's like getting a dozen free, if it were Krispy Kreme. If it is your first time there, they give you a complimentary fresh glazed donut its still gooey and warm. There service is great and they are very friendly. We've been there twice already and its our new go to donut place. These donuts also last longer in the fridge than Krispy Kreme. When you want to eat it, take it out of the fridge and microwave it for 10 seconds. Enjoy!! read more

Yaaaaaaay! But noooo because calories. I always judge a donut shop based on their plain glazed donut and they certainly do a good job. They glaze their donuts pretty generously, it's more of a flakey glaze than a wet one, and the bread is soft and fluffy. My only qualm was I could kind of smell the old oil it was fried in. Their chocolate glaze was decent, but I liked the plain glazed the best. I did not see any maple flavors and they don't sell donut holes individually (at least when I went.) Instead they stick 4 donut holes together and make a square donut. I was not a fan because it was dry perhaps due to overcooking.. I think you get less bang for your buck if you go with the donut hole smash anyway. It was under $9 for 13 donuts and they are open 24/7!! read more

This was my first time visiting Golden Donuts. I wanted to visit a doughnut place in the local area but all that came up was Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme. These places aren't bad, but I wanted something different and new. I stumbled across Golden Donuts and I saw that it had amazing reviews. I finally drove over to try it out myself and they are by far the best doughnuts I've ever had. When I walked into the store, the staff were friendly and quick to service me. I asked for 3 chocolate and 3 glazed. The doughnuts were hot and smelled delicious. I saw the lady pull them off of the little doughnut circle too. When I took a bite, they were warm, sweet, and flavorful. I only paid about $5 too. I will definitely be coming back. Inexpensive, delicious, and I felt welcomed. Moved back here after nationwide travels; we were stunned to see how even Dunkin' Donuts' fritter, first by sight, lacked the so important shape- now is nothing more than a round-raised cinnamon bun with one or two microscopic pieces of Apple & Virtually no cinnamon flavor. I don't usually drive all the way across town for donuts, but I had a craving today. I was definitely not alone, as there was a line of cars waiting for the drive-thru. I went in a got service very quickly, the donuts were delicious. Maybe not a huge selection but they have both cake and the regular donuts, and reasonable prices. The cashier was busy but friendly, so overall I cannot complain about any thing. I myself like a lot of icing on my donuts, so I was very happy with the donuts I got here.
