Adj: Fancy and Fun at Fountain Park…read more So while on a trip to AZ, we came to this park kind of on a whim because we were staying in Fountain Hills. It was close to the hotel we stayed at and I read some great things about this park and my kids loved playgrounds, so off we go. It's been redone so it did not always look so fancy schmancy, but let me tell you this town and neighborhood is quite well to do so I think the funding is not lacking. The park is right next to the man-made lake which is made famous because of the fountain that goes off multiple times every day! But back to the park, the playground really is fun. There's things to climb, slide down, run onto, jump up and down on, and even a zip-line like thing that was kind of scary for me (yes, I'm a scaredy cat). My kids had a great time on that thing and my son in particular went crazy on it going back and forth multiple times. Overall, this is a great park, the playground alone is worth a visit, but then there's covered seating area not far from the playground, and right next to that there's a musical section where you can hit on different metallic objects to make music! My kids really had fun w/those things. There are benches for parents to chill after exertions on the play structure. The view of the lake is nice from anywhere at the park too. Lovely and enjoyable. We would love to visit again.

2.14.26 - Concours In The Hills Car Show…read more I attended this annual event for the first time this year. Car show started at 11am and ended at 3pm. I wanted to be there right at 10am because I know events like these can get pretty busy, and I was right. We didn't get there til about 11ish. My friends lagged plus there was a bit of traffic right at the exit. The plaza closest to the park was completely packed full. People were making their own parking spots in there. You just have to park at the first spot you can find and walk to the park. There are many cars of all makes and models to see. I like that they categorized them and put all the same types together. Cars filled the grass all around the entire park. There are plenty of drink/food stands and food trucks as well if you get thirsty or hungry out there. We walked the entire park but I think we may have missed a few things. I saw in another review that there is a spot with musical instruments somewhere at the park! I didn't see that but would have loved it. The day started off nice but it got warm pretty quick that day. Free water bottles were available at the Phoenix Children's booths. The event was cool to see and different. It seems pretty organized. I personally don't like walking on grass though, especially where dogs are allowed. Definitely come early though for parking and to enjoy the event before it gets hot later in the day.

The park is massive -- it's honestly a bit crazy -- with nearly a 20-minute drive just to get from the entrance to the North Trail, which really puts the scale into perspective. Tried the North Trail -- scenic and well maintained, but the sheer size makes it feel more like a destination than a quick outing. Overall, worth checking out once, but not a spot I'd go out of my way to revisit. Saluti

Back then, most of the freeways that got…read moreus there from what was them NW Phoenix didn't exist, so the drive all the way down Peoria Ave/Shea Blvd was a long one and visiting Fountain Hills was a treat. Originally the tallest fountain in the world, even listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, the fountain is now the fourth tallest in the world, and still the tallest in the United States. "New" features for the kids include a splash pad and a playground with musical instruments. The biggest feature is, of course, the fountain, which goes of every hour for 15 minutes. If you've never been to Fountain Hills, I highly recommend you take the drive, no matter where in the valley you're coming from. It's worth it.

We found parking at the entrance although there is parking down the mountain another 500 feet away from this one if full. Even though it was 56 degrees at the start it can get warm as the trails are a moderate climb in parts but with good trail shoes and balance you most likely would not need hiking poles . The views from different points are worth a view and we were lucky to go early on a Saturday where the trails were not crowded. It was dog friendly and clean.No facilities so definitely need to bring water or drink of choice. Return: definitely for the views

There is a large parking lot and a bathroom. From what I could see, the people at the water were fishing and most of those in the lot were preparing to fish. There were some people further upstream on the water -- either paddle boards or kayaks. The water looked to be deeper than I thought it would be and had a good bit of a current to it. The day I was here, it was getting cloudy and it was starting to sprinkle, but there were many trees so a good amount of shade was available for those sunny days. I need to come back and spend some time on the nearby trails to see what they're like. Note that this is in the Tonto National Forest, so you'll need a Tonto Pass to park -- and there is no kiosk here to purchase those passes, so you'll have to be prepared.
