Adj: Fancy and Fun at Fountain Park…read more So while on a trip to AZ, we came to this park kind of on a whim because we were staying in Fountain Hills. It was close to the hotel we stayed at and I read some great things about this park and my kids loved playgrounds, so off we go. It's been redone so it did not always look so fancy schmancy, but let me tell you this town and neighborhood is quite well to do so I think the funding is not lacking. The park is right next to the man-made lake which is made famous because of the fountain that goes off multiple times every day! But back to the park, the playground really is fun. There's things to climb, slide down, run onto, jump up and down on, and even a zip-line like thing that was kind of scary for me (yes, I'm a scaredy cat). My kids had a great time on that thing and my son in particular went crazy on it going back and forth multiple times. Overall, this is a great park, the playground alone is worth a visit, but then there's covered seating area not far from the playground, and right next to that there's a musical section where you can hit on different metallic objects to make music! My kids really had fun w/those things. There are benches for parents to chill after exertions on the play structure. The view of the lake is nice from anywhere at the park too. Lovely and enjoyable. We would love to visit again.

I've been on all of the trails and have competed in races on several. Prices have gone up for park…read moreentry and passes for the first time in quite a while -- it's $10 per vehicle for entry, which I think is still a bargain for a weekend activity with the family. They keep improving the park and it's always clean when I go -- which is quite frequently (at least once a week, but usually more in the spring and summer). The facilities have changed for the better over the years and there is actually more parking within the park itself than you might guess. The volunteers are friendly and do a wonderful job welcoming people, collecting fees and offering advice. Recently, there has been work on the Pass Mountain trail that reroutes it a bit and makes it more easily passable. Wind Cave is still really popular with families, but I have noticed Talon getting a lot of traffic, especially from mountain bikers. The loop around Pass Mountain is great for a longer challenge. It's good for a car entering or him entering without the car. ($20 extra to add an additional person, but I'm covered if I'm in the car with him.) Such a great variety of trails and elevations here. There is truly something for every type of enthusiast. I walk a lot on Blevins which is about a 3.3 mile loop. My husband does trail running. I always see lots of mountain bikers out enjoying the trails. There are also trails like Wind Cave: it's about 3.2 miles up with around 1000 ft elevation gain. At the top you get a great view of Phoenix and Ft. Hills. If the timing is right you can even see the famous Ft. Hills fountain going off in the distance. In the spring if it's a good wildflower year you might see some good wildflowers on the Pass Mt. trail. It's really just a beautiful park to come visit and enjoy the beauty of Arizona. I've seen a gila monster, rattlesnakes, lizards, jackrabbits, coyotes, tarantulas, deer and scorpions so stay alert but enjoy!

The marina can get crowded and boats are in high demand. - Bring plenty of water! Arizona heat can be brutal, even in the fall and spring. Make sure to stay hydrated, especially if you're hiking or spending time on the water. - If you're visiting for the first time, be sure to take a boat tour to get a unique perspective of the area. - Watch out for wildlife . You might spot herons, eagles, and even bighorn sheep along the trails, so keep an eye out! Plan your visit during the off-season (fall or spring) to avoid the summer heat and the crowds.

Easy trail suitable for most everyone. I come here for trail run as incline is just right to practice running up the hills. I like to come here at dawn and be at the top by the sunrise to witness the gorgeous sunrise. They have a few benches at the top for those who want to sit down. Parking is at the fountain park. Park your car off Panorama Dr parking lot and cross the street. It is across from the fountain park. No restrooms along the trail. Closest public restrooms are at the park near the splash pad area parking lot. I only come here to run in the morning but I bet sunset is beautiful as well.

Bonus is that there's a bathroom that is clean and kept up during the official park hours. There are two different park entrances and parking areas. The second one further up the road is the one that has more spaces available during the early morning. Just know on the weekends, this place is packed and that you usually have to compete with the sports leagues for spaces to park and will have to park on the street. Glad to have a nicely maintained, safe community park so close by.

Back then, most of the freeways that got…read moreus there from what was them NW Phoenix didn't exist, so the drive all the way down Peoria Ave/Shea Blvd was a long one and visiting Fountain Hills was a treat. Originally the tallest fountain in the world, even listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, the fountain is now the fourth tallest in the world, and still the tallest in the United States. "New" features for the kids include a splash pad and a playground with musical instruments. The biggest feature is, of course, the fountain, which goes of every hour for 15 minutes. If you've never been to Fountain Hills, I highly recommend you take the drive, no matter where in the valley you're coming from. It's worth it.

If you walk along the river, you end up in a sandy area with trees, shrubs, and flowers. It is so pretty. You wouldn't even know that you're in Arizona! Came here hoping to see the wild horses. Found a lot of their poop, but didn't see them. Came twice in one day and will be going back again.
