Beautiful spot to enjoy nature just outside of Phoenix. There is lots of parking, several picnic tables, and bathrooms available. Come for tubing, splashing in the river, a casual hike, family photos, or horse watching! Dogs are welcome.

Very large parking lot. I think you can use your America the beautiful national park pass to avoid day fees. Parking lot was full of several pickup trucks not sure if they were going hiking, fishing, kayaking or just hanging out. Took a short walk from the parking lot down to the stream to look for the elusive wild horses, but to no avail. Nice scenery and views and saw someone fishing or fly fishing. Nice map of the area on in of the bulletin boards in the parking lot

Great little spot down at the river with lots of water access for fishing or just relaxing and wasting the day away. Pretty views, especially at sunset. Oh! Not only did I see one of the wild horses, I also watched a raccoon climb a tree and chill above me. :)

Did the two-mille Nature Trail here (I refuse to call this a "hike" as it was a stroll in my book). Nothing too special but the best thing I can say is that it doesn't get crowded. Outdoor restroom but nothing else (info center, water fountains, etc.). Parking is $12. Advance parking passes can be purchased at Circle K.

This was such a beautiful place. Where do I start ? The mountains The water The wild horses The wild life I'm just on a cloud 9! I live in atlanta , I came to MESA AZ on a business trip. We decided to visit the park and oh my goodness it was very beautiful . I'm a city girl so to experience something so simple as nature is a beautiful thing. On the way there I saw so many people take photos such as wedding engagement, family photos and much more ! I would love to come visit again . During the off season of snakes of course lol

This is the off road trail on the other side of the road called Bulldog ohv.

This trial runs on by sides of the highway. This is Bulldog ohv. The trails are a bit rough for my dirt bike as there are lots of boulders. They do allow camping here as well. You need to go online to obtain a permit and the gate codes. Have fun!

Phon D Sutton Loop is a great opportunity to see Arizona"s wild horses in this spectacular backdrop. The lower Salt River is great for paddle boarding, tubing or a picnic. The recreational area has so much to offer.

The water from the salt river has a pretty good current and you can hike along the side of the river.

Adj: Fancy and Fun at Fountain Park…read more So while on a trip to AZ, we came to this park kind of on a whim because we were staying in Fountain Hills. It was close to the hotel we stayed at and I read some great things about this park and my kids loved playgrounds, so off we go. It's been redone so it did not always look so fancy schmancy, but let me tell you this town and neighborhood is quite well to do so I think the funding is not lacking. The park is right next to the man-made lake which is made famous because of the fountain that goes off multiple times every day! But back to the park, the playground really is fun. There's things to climb, slide down, run onto, jump up and down on, and even a zip-line like thing that was kind of scary for me (yes, I'm a scaredy cat). My kids had a great time on that thing and my son in particular went crazy on it going back and forth multiple times. Overall, this is a great park, the playground alone is worth a visit, but then there's covered seating area not far from the playground, and right next to that there's a musical section where you can hit on different metallic objects to make music! My kids really had fun w/those things. There are benches for parents to chill after exertions on the play structure. The view of the lake is nice from anywhere at the park too. Lovely and enjoyable. We would love to visit again.

It seems to be most known for its center piece, the fountain. The area appears to be very safe and even the bathrooms were reasonably clean and had no graffiti. They keep improving the park and it's always clean when I go -- which is quite frequently (at least once a week, but usually more in the spring and summer). The facilities have changed for the better over the years and there is actually more parking within the park itself than you might guess. The volunteers are friendly and do a wonderful job welcoming people, collecting fees and offering advice. Recently, there has been work on the Pass Mountain trail that reroutes it a bit and makes it more easily passable. Wind Cave is still really popular with families, but I have noticed Talon getting a lot of traffic, especially from mountain bikers. The loop around Pass Mountain is great for a longer challenge. Be sure to subscribe to the Maricopa County Parks newsletter to be notified of activities that take place at the park.

It's good for a car entering or him entering without the car. ($20 extra to add an additional person, but I'm covered if I'm in the car with him.) Such a great variety of trails and elevations here. There is truly something for every type of enthusiast. I walk a lot on Blevins which is about a 3.3 mile loop. My husband does trail running. I always see lots of mountain bikers out enjoying the trails. There are also trails like Wind Cave: it's about 3.2 miles up with around 1000 ft elevation gain. At the top you get a great view of Phoenix and Ft. Hills. If the timing is right you can even see the famous Ft. Hills fountain going off in the distance. In the spring if it's a good wildflower year you might see some good wildflowers on the Pass Mt. trail. It's really just a beautiful park to come visit and enjoy the beauty of Arizona. I've seen a gila monster, rattlesnakes, lizards, jackrabbits, coyotes, tarantulas, deer and scorpions so stay alert but enjoy!
