If I could give negative stars I would!! My insurance changed which I was not aware of at the time of a visit in March. I then provided her with the correct information. Cindy claims to have filed claims, I believe she says twice and was rejected. I say "Claims" because United Health Care has no record of them. Untied Health Care has attempted to get ahold of her multiple times and left multiple messages. Cindy has verbally told me she refuses to do anything else on this claim. Now I am billed directly by Dr Karaoglan's and Untied Health Care can not do anything without her input. I probably will not go back to Dr. Karaoglan, because of Cindy.

I have CHAMPVA as the spouse of a disabled veteran, and from the moment I arrived, I felt like I was being treated differently simply because of the insurance I carry. I came prepared with my CHAMPVA insurance card, ID, and an official verification/eligibility letter. Despite providing clear documentation, the women at the front desk continued relaying concerns to the doctor about whether my insurance would "accept" the visit. I went as far as calling CHAMPVA directly while I was there, and my insurance representative personally verified my eligibility. Even after that verification, I was still not given the benefit of the doubt. Instead, the doctor ultimately chose not to bill my insurance and told me that he would not provide the care I needed. What was most upsetting was how powerless and dismissed I felt throughout the entire experience. I did everything I could to verify my coverage and provide documentation, yet it seemed as though my insurance status had already influenced how I was being treated before I was even given an opportunity to receive care. I understand that a provider may choose not to accept a particular insurance plan. However, there is a major difference between simply saying, "We do not accept CHAMPVA," and making a patient feel as though their insurance is somehow less legitimate or less worthy of being accepted--even after the patient has provided proof of eligibility and contacted the insurance company directly. As the spouse of a disabled veteran, it was especially upsetting to feel judged and treated differently because of the healthcare benefits I receive through my family's military service. I walked out feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and genuinely hurt. Patients should not have to beg to be believed when they have documentation proving their eligibility. I came to this office seeking medical care, and instead I left feeling dismissed and discriminated against. I sincerely hope the office takes this experience seriously and reevaluates how patients with CHAMPVA and other government-sponsored insurance are treated in the future. No patient should be made to feel like they are a burden simply because of the insurance they have.

Because of my prior surgery with Dr. Chang, the hospital contacted him for guidance. He personally recommended Dr. Joba to perform the urgent surgery needed to clear the infection. Dr. Joba did an excellent job. He successfully removed the majority of the infection and saved my foot -- I was later told I was only days away from amputation. His skill, clear communication, and calm, professional manner gave me confidence throughout a very stressful situation. What impressed me most was learning afterward that Dr. Joba had voluntarily assisted Dr. Chang in the operating room on dozens of complex cases to further refine his skills, even though he already had his own successful practice. That level of dedication speaks volumes. I've since discovered that Dr. Chang is one of the most respected podiatric surgeons in the country. He has performed complex surgeries around the world on medical missions, served as a professor and department chair, and even authored the textbook Master Techniques in Podiatric Surgery: The Foot and Ankle, which is used by surgeons nationwide. I originally chose Dr. Chang based on his excellent patient reviews, never realizing I was in the hands of such a highly regarded leader in the field. His recommendation of Dr. Joba reinforced that I received truly exceptional care. That Dr Joba used his own time to work under one of the best podiatric surgeons on the planet shows that he wanted to improve his own skills though he had already left school and had his own practice. I slipped in the bathroom and injured my left shoulder. My PCP ordered x-rays and an MRI on my…read moreshoulder. The radiologist at St. Josephs said I had a torn rotator cuff. I got a referral to see Dr. Eric Schmidt. He looked at my images. Then he took some of his own. He said I did not have a torn rotator cuff. He said it was a shoulder impingement and the radiologist was wrong. Turns out Dr. Schmidt was right. He was patient in explaining things including drawing a picture of what was going on with my shoulder. He gave me 3 options and recommended the 2nd one. I took his advice. He injected an anti-inflammatory into my shoulder and prescribed some additional anti-inflammatory pills along with physical therapy. My shoulder today is like new. No unnecessary rotator cuff surgery or other invasive surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Schmidt.

The other "famous" shoulder surgeon suggested knocking me out and cranking my arm. He would have destroyed my shoulder capsule. Dr. Schmidt also told me that I didn't need a surgery on another issue that did resolve itself.
