I live across the street from here. Every single time I have bought gas here the price on the pump does not match. It is always higher at the pump, usually like 3-4 cents. Today it was 7 cents!!! If you're traveling on Hwy 395 and you need a quality stop, stop here. VERY clean bathrooms. Everyone wearing a face mask and very kind. Was greeted by everyone. Wide selection of beverages and snacks. Did I mention how clean this place is? They have gas/diesel/car wash services and meal options. Krispy Krunchy chicken is located here and is the best roadside fried chicken I've ever had. One of the cooks was making the chicken and mashed potatoes fresh, while we were there. This place is a JOKE. Last night someone fraudulently charged over $300 worth of gas on my credit card. We were nowhere near the store, we were home in Reno at the time. Thank God I have alerts on my credit card and saw the changes almost immediately. In addition to calling my credit card company I called the store to alert them. I was told I needed to speak to a manager and none was on staff that late at night, they'd have one call me back. 12 hours later, no call. So I call again and am told to speak to corporate. I call corporate, they couldn't care less, told me to take it up with the credit card company. Seriously? You wouldn't want to know when there is a scam going on at your store? Apparently not. I guess this is how business is run nowadays. But I tell you one thing: I'll never buy gas from Golden Gate again if this is how they do business. read more

MAJOR quibble is the inaccurate pricing of the pumps being advertised on gas sites like Gas Buddy. This is all likely done directly by management or with their blessing by someone associated with the store. Wasn't the first time, but for example the station was posting the lowest card price for unleaded at $3.85 a gallon. However, when you arrive the station within an hour after the price is posted, the $3.85 is the cash diesel price only. Most regular motorists don't use diesel and this isn't the accurate price for unleaded. Unleaded card price around $4.10/gallon, same price as 99/100 other stations. Deceptive. And not just a statistical quirk or 1 time oversight in this regard. I've seen this here multiple times, plus check the other reviews echoing the same issue. Ended up taking my business directly across the road to the ARCO station and didn't have any problems whatsoever there. read more

You want a place to fill those BBQ propane tanks for cheap, this is the place! Other places charge almost double what propane goes for here. I'll tell you what, refilling the tanks are way better than doing that Blue Rhino tank trade in deal at the supermarket or where ever. Those tanks sometimes only get filled 3/4 the way up and charge you like $20 for the exchange! Here at Golden Gate Petro, they'll refill your tank for about $2.25 a gal and a BBQ tank empty hold 5 gal so you get a FULL tank for like $11 and change. You can fill at the U-Haul here in town too, but the price is way higher. One thing you gotta make sure is the date stamped on your tank is less than 12 years old, or they can't fill it by law. Just park by the tank and walk in the store and request a fill or propane. A nice attendant will be out in a few minutes as you unload your tank(s). All filled and you go in to pay. Gas is on the cheaper side but not rock bottom and they charge extra for credit on gas, but not propane. read more

Is it legal for gas stations to charge more for a credit card transaction in the state of Nevada? That's the question I set out to answer after an odd experience at this Golden Gate Petroleum station on Sunday. FFwd to the end for the answer. I was headed to Apple Hill for a short day trip and needed to gas up, so I jumped off at HWY 50, thinking that was where the Maverick was, but only found this station and an Arco. The price at Arco was $3.13 and Golden Gate was showing $3.00. The price difference and the fact that ARCO typically requires you to pay inside helped me choose Golden Gate. After swiping my card I noticed the pump was showing $3.30, so I looked up at the sign and noticed $3.00 was the cash price. I shouldn't miss these things anymore, but .30 difference felt WAY too high. I started the pump and went in to let them know I thought the price wasn't correct. I was told it was, so I just walked out, finished filling my car and left. That experience prompted me to check into whether or not this is allowe in NV and here's what I found... According to Nerdwallet.com it is legal in our state to charge more for customers using credit cards BUT they have to follow a boatload of rules including only charging customers what you're paying in swipe fees from the credit card company, which is typically 1%-3.5%. Oh yeah... they also can't charge extra for using debit. If it's 3.5% or less of your total, it's probably safe to assume they're doing what they need to preserve margins. read more

This Gas Station is absolutely horrible and ridiculous EVERY SINGLE TIME, without fail.. not only with my personal experiences but with my Fiancé as well! For instance: The Swing Shift Exployee is so slow, and he doesn't care how long he takes to complete a transaction, or even if there is a line of 10+ people, he will still go as slow as possible.. my fiancé and I recently went here during this employees shift and we were 3rd in line, and Literally stood in the same spot for well over 10 minutes, when he was finally done with one customer he would then wipe down the entire counter, register, Pinpad (which I totally understand especially during COVID, but this employee was taking 3-4 minutes to clean a 7 foot space.) this is An ongoing occurrence where there is always a line and if your in that line you WILL NOT be getting anywhere fast Next Instance: My fiancé and I stopped here to get a couple drinks and our ultimate goal was to get cash back, it was around 8-9 pm and I waited in a long line like always (I seem to never think of this until it's too late) fast forward 20 minutes, It's finally my turn, and I'm greeted by the same employee as above, after he has finished sanitizing his area and request $40 cashback, to which he replies "I can't do cashback I got to get more money in my till" it was 8-9 pm he had been working at least 4+ hours by now, so I look at him and reply "I just stood in a long line patiently, there is no signs on the door, and I just saw you drop come cash " he looks shocked by my answer and moves me over the the neighbor till and handles my transaction... why lie? I have worked in gas stations in my life, and never have I faced so much Bullshit as I have here Finally, the last instance that really rubs me the wrong way just happened tonight (7-15-21) around 9:50 pm.. We needed Gas and my fiancé runs in to prepay $10 and is told by some employee "Sorry no transactions, shift change in a couple minutes and I'm not doing any transactions, I'm almost off " my fiancé was livid by this point and comes back to the car fuming, I guess this has Happened to him multiple times at all different times... Walter is such a joy. He always make sure the coffee is fresh in the mornings and that the store is nice and clean. He always greets you a smile and and a friendly face and a gleeful positive and joyous personality. If the coffee is not fresh, he will ever so graciously make a fresh pot just for you the customer. Wow what customer service. You just don't see this anymore. The manager is a very kind lady and if there is an issue she will give you her undivided attention. I would not choose any other place to get fuel, coffee and a fresh breakfast sandwich in the morning. The rest of the staff is absolutely amazing in how they treat their customers. A+ over the top. This is a nice, clean, newer gas station across the street from the am/pm. The pumps are spread out which make it super easy to get in and out. This place is great if you need fuel and realize you don't have cash because they take credit cards here! The store is clean inside and out. this station is convienient for credit card users verses the other station across the street who still charge for credit purchases. the store itself is pretty basic, the clerk has nothing to do as there is nothing in the store that would move out fast.. no griller items and the coffee is pretty basic. if your looking for a quick meal this is not the place to be. they dont have the Ethenol stickers on their pumps, but I did ask the tanker driver who was there for a delivery on the percentage... it is 10%.. so we are good there!! will hope that they will add new features to the store to make me want to go in and really get something.. read more
