This is my second time coming to this location. This place has a very clear identity and that's what makes it stand out. It's not just a gift shop, it feels like a full-on brand experience built around bold, empowering, and cheeky messages. Everything from clothing to candles and accessories has that "be yourself" energy which is refreshing compared to more generic boutiques. The product selection is fun and super giftable, it feels personal and intentional which adds to the appeal. The space itself is colourful and full of personality. It's the kind of store where you end up reading everything and spending more time than you expected just browsing. Some items feel a bit pricey for what they are and once you get the vibe, the selection can start to feel a bit repetitive. Overall, it's one of the more unique shops in St Louis. This was a really fun experience never even knew this place existed until yelp. I'm constantly thankful for Yelp for giving me all these experiences to try something new. I love aesthetic so coming in here was like heaven to me. I came to Golden Gems for their Toxxed and Tatted event. I have shopped here many times and surprised I've never written a review because I'm a big fan. I signed up about 45 minutes after opening and was told a 90 min wait. I ended up not getting in for nearly 3 hours which was a little frustrating but things happen. During that time I was able to get some shopping done, get some hair tinsel, and enjoy the food truck outside. What a GEM of store! Literally, this was such a cool spot and I wanted to buy everything I saw. It was such a vibe, with the accumulation of unique stickers, shirts, signs, cards, mugs and so much more. It was hard not to bring most of the store up to the register, but since my carry on had limited space, I ended up with a large stack of stickers, especially once I realized they had an online store for any future purchases. They also have a sister speakeasy/bar concept. I was unable to check it out this visit, but will definitely pu it on my must list next time. It's well worth checking out while in the City Foundry Market area. Though nothing has specific St. Louis vibes all the goods ae super unique and I believe made by their local team of artists. This location is so cute! I love everything the second you walk in there's a nice little storefront with so many catchphrases and useful items for your day-to-day living. I've only been to two of the three locations and I cannot wait to make it to the one in the mall. Everything is priced reasonably and they have sizes of clothes that range from small to our plus size ladies. I visited Golden Gems for their Drag Me to Bingo Pride Event and I had a ball! I was looking for things to do during my weekend trip to St. Louis and I found the function on EventBrite. My friend and I arrived for the second round of bingo and we knew we were in good company between the welcoming vibes and good music. All the queens did a fabulous job performing and the staff did a great job keeping everyone's cup filled with unlimited mimosas. My "souvenir" rose covered cup has quickly become one of my favorite tumblers. Props to the owners for their brilliant ideas, thoroughly using such a big gorgeous space. Golden Gems is one of my favorite local shops for gifts (sometimes for myself)! The other day, after lunch, my friend and I decided to stop in for a quick look. The store was pretty busy with customers, but the sales clerks were so friendly and made sure to welcome and greet every guest! When I walked in, I saw the cutest little disco ball ornament that I just had to have! They had quite a few other ornaments too so it was hard for me to decide...but I am very happy with what I purchased! I also found a cute little plate that had the best saying on it; honestly, all of their items have the best sayings (and some are pretty sassy! Everything just made me giggle and feel happy. I also found a perfect size sticker. They have amazing smelling candles and sprays as well as some awesome t-shirts and journals! Did I mention keychains? Everything about this boutique is absolutely brilliant. This hip, pink, unapologetically feminist, pro human rights (for everyone), trans-affirming, shop is more than your average boutique. Their clothing, accessories, and other home decor not only promotes their mission of empowering you to live unapologetically and take up space but also donates a portion of their monthly sales to local non profits, hosts fundraising events for causes they care about, and even hosts occasional donation drives where goods donated to partnered organizations is rewarded with discounts! The people who work here are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They are quick to help you find exactly what you're looking for (even if you're not exactly sure what that is), and even during busy events, they leave you feeling affirmed and taken care of. Stopped by the other day to get a gift for my best friend. Alyssa (I think was her name!) was super friendly, helpful, and gave great suggestions for gift options. It's no secret that I'm a total Golden Gems fanboy. Their products are just SO cool and high quality. The overall aesthetic is so well designed. I wish I could live inside their store because it's just SO cute. I've been trying to finish decorating my new home office, so naturally I went right to Golden Gems' instagram not only to get inspiration, but also for some much needed retail therapy. Purchased one of their new soy wax candles, the Hazel. The aroma is enchanting! It's described as dark rose mixed with lush plum and peppercorn. The floral scent is very subtle and gives my office the perfect vibe while I'm working each day. Curbside pickup makes my shopping habit way too easy. I pulled up to the shop, gave them a call and they brought the candle right out to me. The other really cool part of the Golden Gems shopping experience is getting free stickers. Today Golden Gems announced on their Instagram that they had 100 BLM signs from #blacklivesmatteryardsignproject available for free or for a donation (to go towards the printing costs/getting more). So awesome! The signs were first come first serve, and local pickup only. I called the shop to see if they had any left, and was stoked to find out they did. I went online as well to pick up a new tee from them because I love the "Wicked Woman" shirt I purchased here at the Yelp Elite Event awhile back. Ordering online was simple, and I was able to pick up my tee order curbside at the same time as the sign and make my donation. Co-founders and sisters Amanda and Susan make the raddest designs, are the nicest people, and I always appreciate the empowerment of women they represent! They are excellent instructors (as witnessed during the mini banner making event), and their creative videos posted during quarantine are hilarious.
