Lennar Minnesota - New Lennar House

    Lennar Minnesota

    (33 reviews)

Our first time building a house could not have been smoother. My husband and I were very hesitant…read moreabout the building process after hearing horror stories from friends and family about their experience building homes with other builders, however our experience with Lennar was anything but horrifying. We built in the Tullamore division and worked with Michael as our new home consultant and Scott as our construction manager. We felt that everything was well communicated through the process and our questions were answered in a timely manner. At the time, Lennar was promoting a free finished basement, however we negotiated the value of the finished basement to be put into upgrades for the house instead. Choosing a house plan in this process is very similar to purchasing a new car. Think of it as different trim levels. There's the base level house that does start in the mid $300ks, but keep in mind that the quality and features of the house will also be at base level. The model home that Micheal sits in is far from base level and has lots of upgrades, so be prepared to put in at least $60k worth of upgrades to get it anywhere close to the features that you will be smitten with in the model home. One of the main reasons we were impressed with Lennar is their customer service and "TLC visits". Any time we had a problem, we did not hesitate to email Scott. Problems you say? Of course there will be problems, it's a new house and there is no single house that is built perfectly. We had a few minor issues like a place holder stone being left in the stone siding of the house, but Scott had his crew take care of it right away. Lennar also provides two "TLC visits", one 3 months after the move in date and the other a year after move in. They send someone over after the first 3 months to fix all the dings and scratches from move in day. Then a year later, after the house has had time to settle and go through a freeze/thaw cycle, they come again to fix other things that happen to new construction homes, such as cracking grout and nail pops in the walls. We're very happy with our Lennar home and would recommend building with them to anyone looking to build.

It is very unlikely I would ever purchase a home made by Lennar again. The quality is sub-par. My…read moredoors suck. Some will not even close and the material swells in the summer so its a total nighmare. The paint they use is crap. The people who do the drywall taping clearly are not professionals. I can literally see where the tape is on the walls and they hung my stair rail on wrong side and when they removed and put on right side they failed to adequately repair the drywall before painting over it. The base boards are also swelling due to crappy material and creating huge gapes between the wall and the actual base board. It now bows out. The venting in the house for a/c is awful. It is always scorching hot in the summer upstairs and I do close the vents downstairs which leads me to believe they aren't doing it right. The garage doors they install are loud enough to wake the neighborhood when opening and closing and nothing helps alleviate that. There are a bunch of drill holes above one of my cupboards because the installer was either drunk or not sure how to hang it properly. All in all it is not an impressive build. They are a mass builder that forfeits quality over quantity and they are not cheap to buy. Not good.

Everything went professionally well…read more Not a major renovation, really, just some bathroom and hallway closet stuff for more room, bigger shower stall, that sort. They came, measured everywhere, scoured blueprints, suggested this material and that, quoted a price and time estimate. All sounded on the up. Green lighted it. Work completed as promised. Room now for all my linens, got a cozier shower stall. The floor's even still even. Would recommend and would use again, should I have another project.

I had seen Danberry Building/Excelsior Design signs in the Minnetonka area for years and within minutes of meeting Jeff and his contracting team in person, I knew I liked them and that my project would be in good hands. Jeff and his team were extremely knowledgeable and insightful discussing my vision to expand my 1920's home with the goal of making the indoor and outdoor space more useable while maintaining its character that I loved so much. Now that the project is complete, I have 3 beautiful new rooms that look like they've always belonged there (a spacious formal entry, living room with custom fireplace & beamed ceiling, and a stunning walk-in pantry). Jeff's team also transformed my steep hillside landscaping (that was once very uneven) to include an amazing stamped concrete patio. Throughout the process, Jeff was always readily available to answer questions, stopped by to ensure things were getting done on time, and most importantly - he made sure that I was happy with how things were progressing. I was extremely impressed with his talented crew who worked non-stop all winter (and during one of the snowiest seasons on record in MN), not only did they do an incredible job with the new additions, but they were also so helpful with decisions, very kind, and always kept me informed of next steps. I am so happy to have chosen Danberry Building Corp and would definitely recommend his team. ~ Gabrielle (Galpin Lake area)

Lennar at Minnetonka Country Club - Lennar Minnetonka Villa Home sod. Our irrigation system doesn't work and we have begged for nearly a month!

We moved in last May and finally got our sod and supposedly irrigation in October (waited 5…read moremonths!). Now in 2020, the irrigation system is not working. No sprinkler heads in the middle of the back yard water so our sod is dying after a months worth of emails begging Lennar to address the problem. A couple sprinklers in the far back and front yard work; the Lennar selected yard service runs them 15 minutes each per week. Help! Lennar says this is a priority but does not address our dysfunctional sprinkler systems and is not watering of our yards to help our sod grow together. Lennar or the HOA should be coming out to water the yard as part of our agreement, and they are not responsive to emails from our Minnetonka Country Club Villa Home neighborhood. Very poor service not worth even 1 star!

Lennar was able work with me to help bring my vision to life. While we do live in a track home community, it is incredible how everyone's home looks different and fits their personality. I don't feel like I live in a cookie cutter home. Of course, with any home build or construction, issues did come up. But Nicole and Randy worked closely with us to fix. They also are quick to fix things that happen as the house settles. The best part is the location and the people. The neighborhood is filled with families and kids range from infants to middle school aged. Our toddler already has made "best friends" and we often have get togethers with the neighbors. And being within biking distance to downtown Excelsior is a huge plus. Moving back to MN from CA, I wanted to be close to a town for the community, events, restaurants etc. We can't wait for the weather to warm up to truly take advantage of the outdoor space!
