I need to correct my five star review based on problems with the work done last November. In June, the front door lock stopped working; my husband could get his key into the door, but the lock would not turn. He called Golden Locksmith for service given what I thought was our prior good experience. When the representative came out this time, he said the lock had broken, and the entire mechanism needed to be replaced. The replacment mechanism cost about the same as the entire rekeying Golden Locksmith had done in November and resulted in an unsightly gap in the door stain since the new lock did not fully cover where the old lock had been. My husband also had to go out and get new keys made due to the new lock. The representative explained that keying the front door so that it could be unlocked by two types of keys, only one of which would open the rest of the doors in the house, greatly increased the chance that the lock would break. Yet, that is exactly what Golden Locksmith had upsold to me the prior November! If the representative had disclosed the downside of keying the locks this way last November, I would have never opted to rekey the lock that way; our prior front door locking mechanism lasted 15 years without ever having an issue. Instead, the representative who was out in November told me that it would be good to have our front door keyed differently from the other doors in the house so that I could give a key to a neighbor or someone else and that person could only ever enter through the front door. Basically, he upsold me on a feature that resulted in the lock breaking less than 8 months later. My husband said the representative who came out was very nice and the new lock has now worked for over a month, but upselling a feature that increases the chance that the company would have to come back and provide more costly service in less than a year is not okay in my book. I lost my car keys in the airport and the car is in the airport parking lot. They have quick response after I called them. The technician is Niko. This is the #1 Locksmith Company in Houston!! I called several local Locksmiths to come and cut a new key for my motorcycle and no one would touch it. I called Golden Locksmith and had an appointment set up for the next day. Joey was not only on time but called when he was an hour out and then when he was 15 min out. Joey was the friendliest, nicest, and most professional guy I've met. He said he hadn't keyed a bike this old before, but was up to the challenge! These are the fastest and most polite locksmith in Houston and the reason I can say that is because I contacted 8 different locksmiths in the Houston area (I live in the humble area)and I called Golden Locksmith LAST but some how they managed to call me before any of the other locksmith. I sure the reason for that is because it took them less then 5 minutes to call me back. As I write this I have still not heard from any of the other 8 locksmith. When the Rep from Golden locksmith called me he told me the price right away and when I asked why the price was to high($150.00)he took his time and explained it to me and did not get frustrated or treat me like an idiot. I requested that they come out and make a key for a 1997 Ford Ranger pick up truck that A friend of mine had managed to loose the keys to. This is an old school key which means it is just a pice of metal with wavy lines on it NO buttons or chips. They told me it was $150.00 because they had to remove the lock to figure out how to make the key which takes time obviously so once that was explained I was fine with the price. I hope this persuades you to go with Golden Locksmith because going with anyone else would just make your day harder. read more

Someone tried to steal my Honda CRV by jamming a screwdriver into the ignition switch, damaging it in the process (the car has a sensor in the key that is required to be in the ignition in order to start the car). The dealership suggested that it would be vastly cheaper to contact a locksmith to replace the key cylinder instead of paying 1k to replace the complete ignition assembly. I solicited for quotes through Yelp and Joey was the first one that followed-up with me quickly (he replied within seconds online and followed up with a call). Joey was incredibly nice and skilled. He even came out to my house a second time to finish installing the cylinder after he discovered that I needed to replace a second part of the ignition. He was also able to key the new cylinder to my old keys so that I wouldn't need to have different sets of keys for the ignition and the door. The only problem I had was that he was late for the initial appointment and I had to call him to confirm that he was going to show up. However, he was so nice when he came that it really wasn't an issue for me. I probably will use this company again if I ever need a locksmith and would recommend them to my family and friends. read more

I found myself in need of a locksmith on a Sunday afternoon. Everyone I called was closed. I then went to Yelp to see who might be open and found Golden Locksmith. (I should have gone to Yelp FIRST.) They were happy to come out and gave me an estimated arrival time. The gentleman arrived on time, and got me all hooked up. He even thought to ask me the color I wanted the locks. That was the last thing on my mind, but afterwards I realized that was VERY important for the look of the door. The lock replacement happened quickly and at a price that seemed MORE than fair. I called a few places and not many are able to rekey picked locks to your same key. They sent a locksmith to do just that, and he also gave me a remote that unlocked the door and popped my trunk. Pricing was steeper than I had anticipated, but I guess there's a price to pay to avoid crawling through the tiny trunk of a sports car. I did not give them 5 starts because once he was done I did notice that from the outside the locked vs unlocked indicator seemed off but i didn't think anything of it. I paid the locksmith and as soon as he left I found out why it looked off. In order to access the lock that had to be repaired be had to remove my door panel, but he wasn't able to get it back on. When I called him (immediately after he had left) to ask him to come back because the panel wasn't on correctly, he acted as if he didn't understand. He asked where the panel wasn't in correctly, and then simply said just push it in. If he wasn't able to do it, I wasn't even going to try. I ended up having to go to a car alarm place to have them place the panel back on properly. Which was an additional expense. As I stated before, the service charge wasn't cheap and to have to spend more money to do something that should have been included with the service was disappointing. read more

Great service! I asked him to come out to re-key four doors, but it turned out I only needed two doors to be re-keyed. The price was very reasonable. $29 for the service call, and then the fee to rekey the doors. It was very quick much easier than taking the door knobs off and taking it into a locksmith. The locksmith was timely and advised on the best way to rekey and switch locks that were currently at the location. I had 4 different keys for 3 doors, and some of the knobs were not supposed to be on exterior doors. The locksmith switched what he could, had to purchase another knob, and rekeyed them.
