Recently my home's front door dead bolt decided it was done cooperating. The pin timber had completely failed not allowing anyone to lock or unlock with a key. I searched Yelp and found a few locksmith services with lots of positive reviews so I submitted inquiries to obtain a quote to have a new smartlock installed in lieu of the original lock and also have it keyed to the existing door locks. Golden Locksmith was the first to reach out with a message on Yelp within a couple of minutes stating a tech would contact me. Within less than ten minutes their tech called stating the price including trip charge. Given the short notice I expected to have to wait a couple of days before one could come out since it wasn't an emergency. Much to my surprise they could come out at a time that fit our schedule the very same day. Their tech was on time and professional however he stated he misunderstood that rekeying was required and this was an additional charge. I agreed to honor the additional keying charge, but I was not pleased given I had received a quote for all services from a competitor for the original price they had quoted. I had simply chosen Golden Locksmith over the competitor as I heard from Golden first while the other responded 20 minutes later. I felt it was fair to honor and give the business to the one who responded most expeditiously. I sent a message on Yelp to the owner regarding what had happened in hopes he could teach his tech to better listen and understand the scope of work with future customers. Much to my surprise within minutes he had called the tech while he was on-site instructing him to honor the quoted price for all services! I was truly shocked and impressed. I had a door lock stuck, late on a Friday afternoon. I called and Johnny answered right away and told me a technician would call me ASAP. Fifteen mins later the tech, Oren, called and he was at my home within the hour. Not only did he fix the door lock that was jammed, I asked him to help with an issue on our front door lock that needed attention too. He was equipped and happy to do it! Omg! I just finished reviewing Bravo Key & Lock business giving them 1 star (phone and information experience) and I must share the experience I just had with Golden Locksmith! Day and night! So polite, informative, accommodating! I placed a call and a dispatch guy (very nice) took my info for a quote and answered my somewhat "technical" questions. I was told I would get a call from a technician shortly. I got a call in 3 minutes from another extremely polite and personable gentleman further providing info on how it would work, time frame (actually seemed to be attentive and concerned as to when I needed it), and pricing... that's where I have to pause....Pricing! Very very reasonable! $29 for a trip fee?! Who does this?! That's amazing! Above mentioned Bravo place wanted to charge me $75 only during "business hours" and more during "after hours" (mind you, Google says they are 24/7). So with all the info I got from Golden, including they are going to make it happen tonight, i said "sure! Sign me up!" and was informed a technician, who actually was to work on the locks, would be calling me shortly. The guy - Caleb - called me in about 5 minutes as I was writing this review. Caleb informed me he would be onsite in 30 min! I had to stop writing so I could make there myself. Upon arrival, Caleb looked at the 3 doors I needed the work to be done, explained to me difference in locks, how he would proceed, confirmed my amazing (!) price and got to work. This team was incredibly responsive, fast, and dependable - when POP-A-LOCK told me they couldn't help me out and were shut down. I was locked out of my car in a parking lot in the post oak/galleria area at night on a Friday. I knew I had full coverage insurance that would cover it, but since no answered the main line, I started calling locksmiths. Pop-a-lock was the first company I tried, and they wasted 15 min of my time on the phone just to tell me they are shut down in my area and they had no one to help me. I called Golden Locksmith next. Without even having to finish my sentence, they told me that they'd have someone out to me in a matter of minutes. The phone rep took my information and connected me to the locksmith who called me right away and gave me his ETA. It took him 3 seconds to open my car (which is a little scary), but he was a fast and it was a good, smooth experience. The locksmith name is Jorge, and he's being doing this for a number of years. The company handles vehicles, homes, businesses, and a number of other things (as he was getting calls for a number of them while on site but still prioritized my job). They take care of everything digitally at the site of work, and within seconds, I received my paperwork and receipt via email on my phone. Jorge was great, explained some industry stuff to me and even gave me recommendations on getting an additional key fab. If you need to call a locksmith, I wouldn't bother with Pop-a-Lock. I call to have them come unlock my car. I am at a well known restaurant. I was told 25 minutes. I wait and get a text telling me to send them my address again, so I did. 10 minutes later they call confused and I find out they are 20 minutes south of me and are confused about how to find me and say there must be two places that have the exact same address. I say well then I need to call someone else. "No no what's something else near you?" And I say "the woodlands mall" he responds with "I'm too far in just going to cancel". Calls me 10 minutes later and says "I'm 10 minutes out I got kinda lost." At this point I have called a second place and they are coming too. Don't even know who to trust at this point. I used found Golden Locksmiths on Yelp and used them to rekey 3 exterior doors in my house and place a deadbolt on my garage. They called immediately with a time they would be arriving for the job and arrived right on time. They did the job expertly and quickly including realigning my doors so they would close tightly and placing a stabilization pad on one of the doors to help it be more secure. The tech was courteous and obviously well trained. The only downside was the cost...I am not well versed in the cost of such repairs, but I thought $500+ for 3 door rekeys and a deadbolt was a little steep. His tech was politely waiting at the house when we arrived (10 minutes early). His tech, Johny, was a good sport about us not having power at the house (we forgot to turn on our utilities prior to the house closing, whoops!) and he had a big light he could use as it was after sunset. He was able to assess all of our locks, and let us know what our options were for rekeying the house. We opted to spend a little more to get a new lock as the existing lock would have meant we needed 2 different types of keys for the front and back doors and we wanted matching for both.
