I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. I showed a photo of the design I wanted, including different colors and small hearts for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, the nails came out very plain with no hearts at all, which was the main detail I asked for. The polish also looked bubbly and uneven. When I mentioned it, I was told they were fine, which was frustrating because they clearly didn't look smooth. I also didn't feel much communication during the appointment, so it was hard to make adjustments. Overall, the service didn't match what I asked for or expected. Not the greatest pedicure experience I've had. My French tip was done hurriedly as there was other clients waiting and the sloppiness was noticed. You can see from the pictures that the curving wasn't done well. The pedicure itself just felt rushed and rough. Most of it didn't feel relaxing and I could tell she wasn't taking her time. It just felt like she was trying to get things over with! No concentration to detail at all. Also, the equipment and tools seem very out of date and old. The website has fake images. Inside is old, dirty and rundown. There are three old pedicure chairs and a few old tables for nails. Very disappointing experience! Poor customer service. The women here don't allow you to speak or disagree with a finding. They assume you're going to complain and they won't allow you to finish a sentence. On several occasions, my friends and I have noticed that they only cater well to the older white female population. They act very prejudice. Please know the difference between racist and prejudice before you dismiss this review. I can't prove that they are racist but they sure act similar to those who are. The quality of service here is not even that good. They need to allow paying customers to make decisions about what they want for their nails and not them making all the decisions for something that you don't want. Just not happy with my nails. I made an appointment DAYS in advance. I asked for a certain style and showed her a picture. She said she could do it. Then when I am in the seat she changes her mind and tells me I should have requested more time, refuses to give me what I asked for (which was a simple pink and white ombre). Instead I came out with very basic white tips (some which are torn/ cracked but used anyway by slapping acrylic on them). Clear acrylic with bubbles/ indentations. Gel which cured with ridges. And superglue adhered to my thumb which I had to pry off in chunks. Just an overall shoddy job. It ruined my day and I almost started crying at how disappointed I was. I asked for something, she said she could do it, but she gave me what SHE wanted. It hasn't even been 24 hours - I can't stand these and am soaking them off. To make matters worse, she adds a $3 up charge simply because I used my debit card. Really? This is 2023! I always go for the underdog and rarely post bad reviews but this was a waste of $120. Funny thing is I would have gladly paid DOUBLE if she just was able to do a QUALITY job. I am sorry i have to post this but you would have earned my respect had you at least been truthful and said "no, I cannot do ombre nails." read more

We visited this nail salon from out of town and we were super excited to get a pedicure! It's a small cramped little place and that was fine and the pedicure itself was decent. However when we went to checkout they said our total was $63 for one pedicure, and $126 total, plus a 3% charge for using a debit card! Which made the total $129. $63 seemed extremely steep for the service we received, when we brought this to the attention of the owners they said it was $28 for a regular pedicure. Since we requested a deluxe pedicure, it was an extra $10. Coming to a total of $38. Which there was no problem there as all this was stated on signage throughout the store. But then... they charged us $15 for gel polish. And an extra $10 for callus remover. Leading to a total of $63 per pedicure! Neither the gel polish nor callus remover price were listed anywhere in the salon; nor were they told to us by the people doing the pedicure. It felt like they just made up those prices as they went. Their argument was that they worked hard on our feet? So the price was accurate? Umm what? I've gotten pedicures done for years and I have never heard of such outrageous prices for gel polish! If it was at least listed that the price was $15 we would have passed on gel nail polish altogether. When we complained the lady working there (who we assumed was the owner) had to call the company who ran her credit card machine because she didn't know how to void a transaction. So now I've been charged twice on my debit card so hopefully one will fall off. Very unprofessional. I've been going here for several months and today it was horrible. Christine has done an ok job on my nails in the past but David basically just sucks. The pedicure was quick without the usual relaxing foot massage or any of the other things I expect from a decent pedicure. He bumped my toe when putting on my sandals, gauging the polish and never said anything. I didn't see it until I got home. Then the gel French manicure was the worst. Uneven, blurry white top, he didn't listen to me about adding tips to two nails that had broken off and when I got home I had to file them all because they were rough. Then he overcharged me!! Rudest Person Ever! I went in to have my nails done for the first time ever! So I was really excited and looking forward to having pretty nails and doing something nice for myself. I made an appointment and came in on time. The lady was rude from the beginning. She asked me what I wanted and I said acrylic nails, but wasn't sure about the process. I explained I had never had my nails done before several times and asked for advice. The lady told me that I "Don't know what I want" So to go home and come back when I do know!" Can I do zero stars? If your just a visitor in town, just say NO! to Golden Nail. Even when it is the only place open with walk ins! Took my pregnant friend in to get manicures done. I could have done a better job myself. Worst $20 I've ever spent. That's one single simple manicure not including a tip. I had to ask to have my nails the same length. And they still aren't. Unfortunately I did not have a very good experience here. I decided to treat myself after an awful week. I never have my nails done so I was excited. When I walked in I was not greeted very friendly. She just asked, "what do u want?". I told her and she told me to sign in. I did and sat down. They claim to take walk-ins but they are not properly staffed to accomodate it, they seem very put out. So if you really want to go here, I recommend making an appointment ahead of time. I walked in on a Saturday and there was only 1 person working. I waited for a while (I'd say 35-45 minutes) and she was still not finished with 2 ladies before me. I knew I would be there several hours by the time she got to me and finished a full set of nails so I left. I am not sure why they would not be staffed better, especially on the weekend. My friend and I went there today, we were disgusted in knowing that they don't sanitize there tools in between each customer... We watched her briefly rinse off the tools with water in the back and use them on someone right after. I have been in Brookings for 2 years and have always gone to golden nail. Christine is very acomidating and will try to fit you in when possible. In the summer she does have extra help but during the rest of the year there usually isnt enough work for 2. I happen to think she does a great job, I see her cleaning everytime Im there . and as far as the person comenting that she isnt american well actually she is , there is more then one type she just had to work a little harder to be one then those of us born here.Its called becomeing a citizan . I have a busy scedual and cant always make appt, so sometimes I have to hang out or come back later but most of the time she can get me in. read more
