We have not been here for a very long time, had some disappointment in service and vegetable prep. Decided to try again and what a great experience. Seated promptly, server came quickly, waited to give us time to decide, and was very friendly. We were pleasantly surprised at the prices, they have not followed the trend of large increases. We chose the family special, an offering with soup, appetizers, and choice of entrees, a package for two. Everything was great. The portions are large, we took food home. To start the wait time to get a seat took forever And the place was basically empty. Then when we did get seated it took 20 minutes for the waiter to come ask us what we wanted to drink and again ant this point we were the only ones in the restaurant so we just ordered all the food we wanted. This isn't the first time we've had take out from here and each time it's way too salty on a meat/vegetable type dish. Service was good because they were attentive to my request to have the sesame chicken's sauce on the side as that helps the takeout chicken to stay a little crispier, but the breading was thick and the sauce was bland. They do package the meals well for portability. It seems like it'd be hard to have Chinese takeout be so unappealing, but it is repeatedly so. I moved away recently and have been so homesick for the food here, specifically the Sesame chicken. No place has made it as good as they have and I just got done eating here today with my friend since I'm visiting and honestly I want to cry ;-; it's even better than I remember and it goes to show how we can take so much for granted. Ordered take out. Place is kind of in a sketchy strip mall that looks abandoned. GPS doesn't even get you close to do it. Take out was prepared very fast. Pork lo mein- very good. Potstickers- cooked a little long for me. Wish they would have had steamed dumplings. Crab Rangoon- good not great. I'd go again if I'm in the area and craving Chinese food just wouldn't eat in. The food is always delicious. This has been my favorite restaurant since I found out about its existence. I used to come here with my grandparents especially when I was in elementary-middle school so it's pretty nostalgic now, as nothing about the restaurant has really changed since then, and I'm glad. The smell within the area is so nice and comforting and everything is always so clean. The service is alright; everyone's pretty quiet and straight to the point, but I'm honestly okay with that. First time at Golden Palace in Willmar with my Ride or Die partner. The pepper steak was seasoned properly. Definitely not sugared like on buffets. The vegetables were nice sized and crispy. Egg roles stole the show. Crab Rangoons fell a little short. Would have been superb had there been more mixture inside. But they were delicious to dunk in tbe hot sour soup. We are from Hanley Falls MN and Marshall MN so we look forward to trying other selections on their vast menu. read more

I went one day during the lunch rush. Some people did walk out and some people did wait a while for their food. I, on the other hand, waited a while for the server to take my order. Once I ordered, though, I didn't wait very long for my food. This is not a buffet. I ordered two orders of crab Rangoon (4 per order) and Singapore noodles. Crab Rangoon were big and delicious!! Everything was piping hot, even after I left my steaming food to go change my baby's diaper. Singapore noodles were good...I was expecting more of a rice vermicelli vibe, but it was authentic in its own way. Made with saffron and chinese 5 spice (think a slight cinnamon flavor), Veggies and combination of meats, it was quite delicious and the portion size was great plenty for me to eat and bring home leftovers. Prices were reasonable, I spent less than $20 on all my food. They also do phone in/pick up orders. I also saw a food dudes guy come pick up someone's food while I waited. The only downfall is their lack of staff at the time I went. One host/server and one other server. Probably one person cooking in the back. I stopped in at Golden Palace because I love Chinese food and picked this place because it wasn't a buffet. I ordered the crab rangoons to start and have to say they were a little disappointing. The wrapping was a little too chewy rather than the crunchy I was hoping for. Next, my meal came with some soup and I had to order the egg drop soup because the hot and sour had pork it in. I usually find egg drop soup to be a little bland and this occasion was no different. Now I know you're probably asking why I gave this place 3 stars but the actual entree made up for the sub-par appetizers. I ordered the first item listed under specialties because it was named after the restaurant. It came with beef, scallops, and shrimp which was an interesting combo but I liked it. I ended up having a lot left over since I'd ordered an appetizer and had soup. I ate the leftovers the next day and they tasted even better. I did like the fact that it wasn't as salty as other Chinese food restaurants I've visited. The restaurant was decently packed when I was there and there was only one guy doing the serving. You'd think that would make for poor service but the guy actually did a great job. I was impressed! If half stars were an option, I would have bumped it up to 3.5 since the service was so good. I was only in town for a few days so I didn't have a chance to try any of the other local Asian restaurants but I was assured that I'd picked the best one in town. read more
