Had never been here before. Looks like they have a small brewing setup, but wasn't our focus…read more Just across the road from Lake Minnewaska. Great smoke smell outside. This isn't "fine" dining, but more like upscale homemade cooking. Because of the prices and food quality I am giving it 4 stars. (Very good). This isn't a once a year or just special occasion place, it's an every other week place. Can dress casual or nice. Lounge and dining areas, but Lounge is nice. Wood fired grill. Food was just right, not charred, but had a good Smokey flavor (not overwhelming). BBQ meatball apps were great, different nightly specials. Ribs and chicken were great! Ribs fell off the bone, fat had melted away, and bbq sauce was just right. Chicken tender and juicy. Cornbread muffin tasted off the shelf but fine (nice size but need to nail the cornbread as it isn't hard and compliments bbq so well). Drinks were good and priced for 2nd's. My wife loved her Prime Rib sandwich. The popover was sweet and delicious. Great variety on the menu and service was great! Not a place you have to ask for things on the side or can you remove that. They appear to know what's important and nail those, with no negatives. Thank you for dessert (lava cake). Best way to put it, if we lived closer, I would be a regular.

I visited Prime Steak House in July 2026 for a family member's birthday. The total came to about…read more$170 for three entrées, a kids' meal, appetizers, several alcoholic drinks, and 2 desserts, which felt like a very fair price for a steakhouse with good food. I ordered the chicken sandwich without aioli, and I might have gone wrong with that choice because the sriracha ended up overpowering it a bit, but everything else was great. Service was friendly and attentive, and when it got busy another waiter stepped in and also made great conversation. The atmosphere was nice overall--dry-aged meats were on display, the tables were well set, and even the bathrooms were clean and looked really nice. It was a little cold inside, but not a big issue. Also, wine is half off on Wednesdays. Overall, a great spot I'd definitely go back to and recommend.

What we didn't like = price for the quality The spinach dip was saturated in butter floating at the top of dip. Fettuccine was also butter soaked. Steak special fillet was good. Risotto tasted like white rice mixed with cream of mushroom soup (college food). The ribeye was charred and had too much grizzle taste like the grill it cooked on was grimy and unclean. We spent near $400 on the dinner and left sick from the over butter and sick we paid that much for THAT dinner. Not worth the drive or price. Do not fool yourself that the drive will be an experience dinner.

It's home to the beautiful, calm, and peaceful Sauk River. Geese, ducks, ducklings, and a garden to enjoy the view of the river. Inside, there's a warm, welcoming, and hospitable atmosphere. Jaclin is very friendly and professional. The family had a great time, and the geese were happy since we gave them some snacks. Among other things, as a chef, I recommend the Spam skewers--yes, Spam--and the BBQ ribs, which are fantastic. Good selection of drinks, and behind the bar, very skilled hands. Until next time...

The popover was the star of the show with its giant size and a delish honey butter paired with it. The moonshine sirloin was flavorful and I definitely would get it again. The duck breast was not my favorite and honestly, I was expecting more for the price and after it was talked up to be a favorite. But overall I'd love to come again in the summer when the weather is nice and I can see the river!
