The nurse practitioner, Betty, then came and we had a long conversation about what I was dealing with and the potential reasons. I ended up getting some fluids via IV. It was a mix of many factors, and I was lucky I didn't wait. Once I got released, I felt so much better. I actually ate after that! I had to look all over the place for her. I live in Golden and the office was close. I take opioids and all offices I checked later freaked when I mentioned opioids. I had been taking them for over 30 years. I never abused them or asked for more. Her name was Melody Noe. We had a great relationship. Now I'm seeing a doctor 45 minutes on the highway from here. I just don't think these people should just disappear without letting us know where they go or at least make a suggestion as to see next in the same neighborhood. Darn.

My recent visit was incredibly frustrating. The front desk was dismissive; Jill refused to listen to my actual concerns and tried to push me into booking an unnecessary appointment with the doctor instead of resolving a simple issue. Additionally, the phlebotomist refused to draw my blood because I brought in a specific screening kit (the Galleri cancer test). Instead of assisting with a standard blood draw and placing the sample in the provided return box, she claimed confusion and declined the service entirely. It felt like the staff wanted to do the absolute bare minimum to get me out the door. Dr. Varner is great, but he desperately needs a better, more competent team to back him up.

The provider I spoke with was condescending and unprepared for our call. After having to schedule at a physical office, she calls me first thing this morning to tell me that actually, it's a phone screening. No mention of this anywhere on the website. She was rude, dismissive, and threatened to end the call early. I had to provide her with therapy to de-escalate the situation and continue the call productively. She was dismissive of my concerns and seemed to have a preconceived notion of what they were. She offered no follow up questions and did not attempt to delve deeper on any point. She was clearly not paying attention and I caught her not knowing what I had said minutes earlier multiple times. Overall an absolutely shocking experience but sadly very much in line with what I've heard from others seeking mental health care here. Avoid if you can. I cannot imagine seeking care here in serious need - the fact that this is the level of care they provide makes me worry for people with more significant support needs.

Well, I went back to my PC and she referred me to another surgeon. After this new doc had seen the x-rays he got me in for surgery right away. They said originally that this 2nd surgery, a level 5 fusion should've taken 60- 90 mins., took nearly 4 hours because the damage that occurred was more extensive than expected. 3 days after surgery, I received a call from the CDC telling me I needed to get to an emergency room that day. I had been infected with staphylococcus they had traced to the hardware Dr Smith installed. Upon arrival at the hospital, staff immediately installed a Pic line to try a catch the infection that was ravaging my body. For the next 4 weeks I had to inject antibiotics directly to my heart at the cost of $500/day! Followed by a month of oral antibiotics. It is horrific what this clown put me through as the infection caused a hardening of my heart muscle tissue, reducing it's function to 40% of normal and am now on 6 ltrs of oxygen 24/7. In addition there is irreversible damage to my spine with extensive nerve damage. My life has been shortened by 20 years and I'll have to live with this pain till I die which could be any moment due to heart failure. Gee, thanks you f***ing a**hole! You ruined what life I may have left, including what my family has to endure watching me suffer. There is nothing they can do to help me. I pray for karma.

I visited during posted urgent-care hours after a fall. CommonSpirit's public-facing website describes urgent-care pricing during specific hours and states that patients will be informed whether their treatment or testing is being billed at an emergency or urgent-care level. That did not happen during my visit. After the visit, I received a CommonSpirit facility bill totaling $38,591.97 in gross charges -- roughly $31,999.44 of which was for a single CT scan. For context, a brand-new CT scanner costs around $100,000. My concern isn't with the clinicians, who were professional. My concern is with the disclosure practices of the facility itself. Don't assume an organization has your best interest in mind simply because of its marketing or its religious and mission-driven branding. Ask explicitly, before any test or treatment, whether you're being billed at the emergency or urgent-care level -- and get the answer in writing if you can.
