    charcuterie board tasting menu
    John O.

We've been meaning to come here for a while, as it's a long drive from the Bay area. Staff at Duckhorn where we frequent regularly told us that we had to make the journey up there. Suffice it to say, expectations were high! It's a LONG windy road from the 101 and you keep thinking: are we THERE YET? You finally arrive into the quaint Anderson Valley and arrive at Goldeneye. To our dismay, we found out that the back area (facing one of the most iconic winery views in NorCal) was closed. The back area should be open back up this summer, so check before you visit. The area in the front facing the highway is still pleasant. The pours were quite small, I had a difficult time really distinguishing between the various pinots to be honest. The cheese/charcuterie board was exceptional and our host was very pleasant. The wines are all very pricey, the cheapest wine is $65! So be prepared to shell out some money if you decide to take any wine home. I had long wanted to visit Goldeneye, but would have loved to have sat out back with that epic view. Given the distance from the Bay Area, I doubt we will ever visit again. However, it was great to check the "Goldeneye" box and say we went there. That completes our visits of all of the Duckhorn wineries (Duckhorn, Paraduxx, Migration, Goldeneye). They're all unique, different, and offer very separate, unique experiences. We've had such great experiences at each, with the best experience being at Duckhorn. All in all, it's a great portfolio of wineries worth checking out. Enjoy!

Time to update my review. Always our favorite winery to visit in the valley, the views are spectacular, the wines are always top notch and the service is always great.

Loved visiting this winery! It was under construction when we visited so we were seated in the front yard, but would love to come back again in the future. We were helped by Doug and he was amazing! So knowable and friendly. One of the properties we can visit with our Migration winery and so happy I got to visit while driving through to get to Fort Bragg. The rest of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Please stop by if you're in the area! Love how it's dog friendly too.

Tasting room opens early - 10am! So we decided to sneak in an extra tasting. Here's my tasting notes from the Essentials tasting: Started with a Chardonnay and sparkling brut rosé of Pinot/Chardonnay. The sparkling rosé was dry with acidic kick and would be great with seafood (or on its own on a hot day). Starting with their 2020 Anderson Valley Pinot noir has a blue-back color, berry-forward but not sweet. Errs on the side of bitter tea with notes of saddle leather. Classic Anderson Valley Pinot. Very drinkable an 2019 Confluence vineyard Pinot is fruit-forward and herbaceous. Not too much tannins, for those who prefer berry-forward pinots, you will enjoy this one! 2020 Gowan Creek Pinot. Has more tannins to provide structure and can age if you would like. I tasted violet fruits and cassis. Ended with the 2019 Calera Pinot noir, which hails from the Central Coast. It was very structured and texturally more complex, which took me a bit to discern flavors. Little spice and lemon zest, could probably pair it with salmon.

Slightly disappointed from our last visit to Goldeneye. We dropped by on a Thursday afternoon on our way to the coast. As wine club member we are used to exceptional service when tasting at any of the sister wineries of Duckhorn. This time; however, while the service was good we weren't offered other tastes of some of the wines we were interested in off the tasting menu. Our visit seemed like just a wine pick up and not an experience. I think we'll just stick to visiting Duckhorn and Migration for our member pick ups.

A few years later and we decided to make the trek up again and I'm so glad we did. We had a much different experience this year and everyone was so warm and friendly. Shout out to Nena for walking us through the tasting, giving us some history of the area (and "Boontling"), and making our experience so enjoyable. Goldeneye is SO beautiful in the fall. I would definitely recommend coming to the area this time of year. We went to a few other wineries during our trip, and I think Goldeneye had everyone beat in terms of the best wine and view.

Nina was so welcoming and shared so much knowledge about the wines and the vineyard. We loved our tasting and the charcuterie board that we ordered along with it. The weather was a bit rainy so we couldn't sit on the patio but they were so accommodating to let us sit inside with our pup! We will definitely be back!

Great views and service. However the wines themselves were not to my groups fancy. Fun spot though. They also had a puppy food board how cute.

A top class wine tasting experience. Beautiful location, great host (Doug was phenomenal), and excellent wine!

I love wineries under the Duckhorn Portfolio. We've been to Duckhorn, Calera, and now Goldeneye. On our way home from Mendocino, we decided to make a pitstop in Anderson Valley wine country. We weren't sure which winery to visit, so we used Yelp to guide us. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that Goldeneye was along the wine trail! Upon arrival, they served us a welcome bubbly. It was so crisp and refreshing! They said we could sit wherever we'd like, so we grabbed a table outside on their patio. It was a beautiful winery, and a perfect day to sit outside. We each had their red tasting flight, as we wanted to taste their Pinots. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, telling us about the winery's history and the different vineyards. We ended up buying a bottle of Pinot that we're saving for a special occasion :) Highly recommended!

    Winner of the afternoon!

We pointed our car towards the direction of Anderson Valley and drove right past Goldeneye Winery and U-turned and headed straight to their tasting room. On this beautiful day, our little walk-in party of 2, were greeted with a splash Vin Gris and quickly seated overlooking the most breathtaking view of the Anderson Valley. We took in the Essentials Tasting of the most beautiful pinots Anderson Valley had to offer. Our sommelier, Ernesto, was very knowledgeable of each wine and let us know some of his favorites. I shared with him that we had a couple of 2019 Goldeneye's at home and he advised us to let them age a few more years. We left with 2 beautiful pinots which we plan to add to our collection. Oh Anderson Valley, so many pinots, so little time....but we'll be back.

Compared to Duckhorn, this is a very disappointing tasting room and service. Good, expensive wine but no ambiance to match the wine.
