Day of last class: a few classes were cancelled because fecal matter was in the pool and they had to disinfect it. I was offered a refund for the 1 class that was rescheduled to a date I was unable to make. My 2 year old son learned nothing. There are too many kids in a class for just 1 instructor and it takes away from the purpose of this class. Disappointed in the results.

The main issue we had was that parents are only allowed to watch the first and last class, so we were very uncomfortable with the idea of leaving our child (a very beginner level swimmer) in a class with 7-8 student to one instructor. Although it's helpful for the kids who may get distracted if parents are right there. Another issue was that some of the kids have severe anxiety and are pretty much crying through the entire lesson. You can't really avoid this but it may not be a good idea if your kid is easily influenced by others around him/her. My son started crying after seeing the other kid cry and that pretty much ruined the lessons. I liked that they were understanding to our situation and let us get a refund after we tried the first class. The swimming pool is NOT a heated pool. The room with the pool is temperature controlled and humid but the pool itself is not heated. My son was freezing during his lesson and was visibly shivering the entire time. Under the expert direction of Shawn Slevin, the instructors get in the water and stay with the kids while guiding them the right way. They work on technique until a particular stroke is mastered. They do this in a caring way and the children truly enjoy these classes. There is an instructor for a small group of three to four kids. They also have the advanced classes working on speed and endurance. As a mother of two former competitive USS swimmers, I have been to a lot of places and seen a lot of coaching. Shawn Slevin and Swim Strong are truly the best and it is a privilege to be able to be part of that organization.

The pool itself is often dirty, which is disappointing considering the number of people paying to be there. The check in process is also extremely slow. It shouldn't take 15 minutes or more to check in each guest, especially when people are standing outside in 100 degree NYC heat. The staff and lifeguards are another major issue. While I understand many of them are HighSchoolers, that doesn't excuse rude behavior or a lack of professionalism. Many of them come across as disrespectful for no reason Another frustrating issue is the inconsistent rules. They seem to change from day to day, sometimes even within the same week. I understand the purpose of adult swim at a crowded pool, but constantly changing the age requirement without clear communication only creates confusion and unnecessary frustration for guests. I tried many other programs, and this has been the most effective at reshaping my physical and mental approach towards fitness and nutrition. About two months in and my strength and posture has improved. The group sessions at 30 minutes, small groups - so far for my sessions 2 to 4 people. For the groups, your work out is what you make of it, the trainer offers modification for mobility limits (or until you get strong enough). Generally, the workouts are moderately challenging, so if you are lazy, you will not get the most out of the 30 minutes- so don't complain, give it your all and you will feel it! And if you want more challenge, the trainer will offer a modification. This is also all women, which I prefer. Pricing is more than most, but you are paying for the quality of your workouts and not the quantity of the square feet. Scheduling is flexible, but you must be on time for your sessions or else you lose it- again it is what you make of it The space is clean, temperature cool, and they offer free beverages and snacks.
