My daughter Hannah just had a swim trial yesterday with Mr.Collin and LOVED IT! She normally is very wary of men, so I was a little hesitant at first, but Collin was AMAZING with her right from the start and she was 100% comfortable, which was a BIG surprise seeing that she normally screams and crys when she has a male instructor. His whole demeanor with the kids is why I decided to join! I know it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for, my daughter has been taking swim lessons at the YMCA for almost 1 year at a fraction of the price but has gained more confidence in just 1 class at goldfish swim, so I'd say that alone is worth the price! So I will start by saying that the pool is very nice and warm. Also, the staff members are great and facility is very clean. That said, I think this place is way too expensive for what you receive. Classes are 30 minutes, and my daughter spends more time sitting on the ledge of the pool vs. being in the water and actually learning to swim. Initially there were 3 kids to a lane and I was told pre-Covid, there used to be 4. This past Sunday they started back with 4 kids to a lane, so my child has even LESS time in the pool than before, which was never very much. Thank goodness I already canceled and only have a couple classes left because I would have been so upset to keep going with 4 kids. I have told them repeatedly I would never have signed up with 4, so you would have thought the school would have notified parents about the change, but they didn't say anything. My child really has made no progress at all with this school, and I know that is because she barely has actual swim time. When I mentioned this to the school in the past, they just say "well we do have 1:1 sessions, but it's more money." I'm already paying a lot $128/month. That's only 4, 30 minute sessions where my child is in the water for about 6-8 minutes total. I recommend parents looks elsewhere if they want their kids to actually learn how to swim and be in the water. read more

We love goldfish swim school- milford! 2 of my 3 kids have been able to swim independently by their third birthday, and my 2 year old is well on his way to do the same! This has given me the greatest piece of mind as a mom of 3 littles who spend their summers by the water. The staff is so friendly and we love their instructor, Miss Marissa! If you or a loved one is considering Goldfish Swim School in Milford, my family would 100% recommend it. We have three children and they have all done lessons there. They are all different, my youngest cried a lot at first when transitioning to independent lessons. They were so patient with is us and supported us in making it successful for him. They did not shame us when he cried very loudly. They encouraged us to allow the staff to support him. They also celebrated the successes of making through a lesson without tears. He is now a very strong swimmer and loves going there. Every time we drive by, he wishes we were going to go swimming. My daughter did amazing. She is not a team sport person and loved the individual goals provided by swimming. She was our most successful swimmer. She made it to Pro 2. When she won swimmer of the month, she told her whole class and brought the ribbon in for show and tell. My oldest son loves to swim and when he struggled with one of their moves ( the roll over), they gave him one on one attention in an extra lane to help him learn to master it. They also had a different instructor try teaching it to him with a different style. This was the key to his success and he nailed it. Swimming is a life long skill and as a parent knowing my kids will be safe in the water allows me to relax and enjoy my time. It also helps when others offer to bring my kids to the pool. I agree with other review that this place is not worth it. I will first of all start with good and great things about the school. Atmosphere is great , water is very warm. Place is very sanitary and staff members are amazing. Lockers rooms are clean along with showers etc. Now the bad things, monthly fee is $100 like other gold fish schools. Kids get 30 min sessions once a week for 4 weeks, so it's $25 per session , but you will lose first 5 min for class to start and last 5-10 min will be gone for showing what they learnt. You will be left with 20 min and since there are at least 4-5 kids per class, your kids gets turn once every 3-5 min. So all in all kid will be actually in water for a total of 5 or 10 min tops. Most of other time will be sitting on edge. You are paying $25 for 5 minute of learning. Last week there was 1 teacher for 5 kids and my kid got in total of 3 turns to learn something. I don't expect my kid to be Phelps after couple of months, but the way they designed their classes, by the time kids learn basic swim it will be at least 6 months. If you want to overpay and timepass this place is the best. read more

I can't say enough good things about Goldfish Milford. We have been taking our daughter there since December 2019 and her swim skills have flourished tremendously! Our two year old started this winter and it's amazing the amount of skills she has developed in such a short time! Their staff is very knowledgeable and great with kids. The facility is always immaculate, even before the extra cleaning precautions they've implemented due to the pandemic. Terrible, terrible experience! And a giant rip off. Goldfish swim won't let you sign up for a finite amount of time / set number of lessons - instead, they auto bill you every month until you've physically signed a paper cancellation form at their facility and even after you've done this, they will keep billing you for another month, because their policy is that you must sign the form 30 days in advance. When I got in a car accident and had no way of making it to their Milford facility 30+ minutes from my house to sign their cancellation form, I called Goldfish Swim to ask that they kindly email me the form, and I'd be happy to snail mail back a wet signature original, as I was in a car wreck and couldn't find anyone to drive me 30 minutes there in the snow to cancel. The staff there were so rude to me over the phone that I almost cried. After multiple calls, the manager snapped, saying she'd go against policy and cancel my kids lessons without me signing the form at their facility, but that in turn she would negate the four lessons remaining on our account when we re-enrolled. So now I have no car and over $100 in lessons that I've paid for but am not entitled to take! Other minor gripes: The lessons are so short, that they're over a minute after they've started. Goldfish can't seem to hold onto their teachers. My child's first 2 lessons were great, but another teacher had replaced her first teacher by lesson 3, and he traumatized my kid by literally dunking her in the water despite her screams and cry's. The teacher in the class I subsequently transferred my daughter into was so soft spoken, she was unintelligible. Once we finally found a teacher we liked as much as we had the first, she left Goldfish after only a handful of lessons. We weren't ever reimbursed for the lesson Goldfish cancelled during the transition between our previous teacher and her replacement nor for the lessons that fell during Goldfish's holiday closures. I could go on but I'll stop here. I'm so annoyed! read more

II had high hopes for this swim school that just opened a few months ago. My initial frustration was when I tried to sign up they had one problem after another processing my card the issues were on their end not mine. I spoke with several different people and was promised free swim credits due to the bungled process. No big deal but these credits were never added to my account and there is no record of them offering this to me. Again, small potatoes. The facility is very clean and well designed and for this it gets two stars instead of 1. They have showers adjacent to the pool area and even provide shampoo, body soap, and hair dryers. The teachers have all been very nice but the turn over at this facility is egregious and negatively effects my daughter's ability to progress which is what we are paying $100/months for! This $100 month boils down to 30 minutes a week of class. While they do limit the classes to four children, when the teacher is taking each child individually there is a lot of standing around. For the cost there isn't a whole lot of actual swimming being done. Additionally the kids are confined to a very skinny lane which leads to a loud and potentially overwhelming environment, as each lane is packed with a different class. My biggest gripe is that my daughter has been going there for a couple of months and in the span of 3 months (the class meets weekly) she's experienced five different teachers, three different teachers over the past three weeks alone! The consistency is not only critical for the children's comfort level but so that there is some institutional knowledge from week to week regarding what the child needs to work on in order to advance and move forward. Unlike other swim schools you don't join a program that has a start and end date, they guess at your level and then put you in a class and determine when you are ready to move forward. However, this determination is really not objective and varies greatly from teacher to teacher. My daughter's initial teacher told us as soon as we put her in the class she was likely in a group not well matched for her skills, she kept being promised a test to be moved but each week it would be a new teacher and then no test, my daughter would leave in tears. When I addressed this then ensured she would be tested the following week and she was but that person's assessment was completely different. Just an odd way of delivering lessons? Again, the lessons themselves are very quick, 30 minutes and 7 of those precious 30 minutes are spent talking to the parents individually (I feel this should take place after the 30 minutes.) I often do drop in spin classes in Boston which are an hour or more and cost $25/class. The goldfish classes priced at nearly a dollar a minute make my spin classes look like the deal of the century. I do hope they can find their way. To end on a high note, the teachers have all been kind and well intentioned, the facility is clean and well amenitized, my daughter enjoys going to the classes. read more

My 2 year old started about 6 months ago and enjoys his Sunday swim class. He looks forward to it and is starting to get more comfortable being in water. The facility is spacious, clean and I love the tropical vibe. We recently had a wonderful experience hosting our son's second birthday party. All the guests had a blast.
