After the initial sales process things went downhill really fast. Once they lock you into the contract they lose complete interest in the project. The entire team is non-responsive and everything takes ridiculously long. From contract signing to getting the system fully operational took well over a year. They claim that is normal, but everybody I ever talked to had their system installed in about half that time. The only thing they are good at is covering up for each other and coming up with excuses. A year after completion one of our panels broke. In the contract they claim to have a highly responsive service department and fast turnaround times on warranty claims, but that is a total lie. They are again completely non-responsive. A month after starting the warranty claim we are still nowhere. Given how dishonest this company is, likely all or most of the positive reviews are fake and made up by the company itself in the time they spend not responding to their customers. All the negative reviews echo my experience and it is highly unlikely that they randomly choose to provide excellent service to some and dismal service to others with no middle ground. Sept 15, 2024 system went down. It appears to be a "pairing issue". I'll never understand why it doesn't notify you of outages. My water heater notifies me of problems, but this doesn't. I noticed on the widget that the production was zero. When a consumer purchases a solar system, it's usually a financial decision to save money on electricity. Keeping it reliable and operating is that last thing you should have to worry about. Keep in mind, Goldin Solar isn't responsible for an equipment failure. The manufacturer is SolarEdge. I've contacted them for service. I'll update my review after the repair & their response time. They usually send great personable technicians. UPDATE: I was contacted Sept 20, 2024 that the inverter needed to be replaced by SolarEdge. It would cost $500 in labor, which I immediately paid. I believe the previous time I paid $350 to replace the inverter. It's not Goldin Solar's fault these things fail so often, but it sure hurts my pocketbook. Regardless, they are being responsive. They really should invest in software such as Salesforce to manage their customer maintenance and communication, since it appears to be causing issues for them. I've been asked by several about optimizers failing. In 7 years, no optimizers have failed. I am waiting for the SolarEdge inverter to arrive in the mail. I'll update after the repair. UPDATE: My Solaredge inverter arrived yesterday. I contacted "Michael" via text, and he told me he would send somebody the next day in the morning. The tech showed up today and replaced the inverter. This entire process was exactly 30 days. Keep in mind, the delay was due to Solaredge not shipping as quickly as Goldin Solar expected them to ship the box. I think that's a 5-star result, even after having to pay $500 for a repair. It's a ton of money and 3.5 months of electricity + 1 month of zero production. This started 3 years ago, every time something breaks it's like pulling teeth to get hold of someone, no one returns phone calls. Than if you are lucky to have someone to come out, they charge you and than they say we don't have the part so they have to order it than they will charge you again to come out. It will take them months to get the part and come back out, meanwhile, the system is down. I had another house in a different state and that company was always on top of things and didn't double charge me. If I made a call they would come out within a week and take care of the issue without any headaches. I would stay as far away from this company unless you want headaches. Even with the BBB they have bad reviews and always come up with excuses. They would even sometimes come out, say something was broken than when they would come out months later another technician would say there was nothing wrong with that part and actually something else was the problem. One time when they came out and said it was my battery inverter and the technician was messing with it and luckily I was home because the next morning it caught fire. I did a lot of research in preparation to have a solar electric system installed at our home. Our goal was to have cost certainty heading in to our retirement years and also emergency backup power for our home. I contacted a number of vendors/contractors to learn what was available to fit our needs. Almost all of the vendors turned out to use high pressure sales schemes and were short on information to help us decide what system would be best for us. Most of them just wanted to load us up with as many panels as would fit on our roof telling us that we would end up selling a lot of power back to our electric utility company. That was not our goal. We wanted adequate power for our needs and backup power for emergency power outages. I did not know it at the time but later learned that the overkill systems these dealers were trying to foist upon us would not have been accepted by our utility and we would not have been able to have the bidirectional connection to the grid. We would have had to become an "off the grid" system and sell excess power to no one. Their greed to sell over powered systems thankfully did not ignite greed in us to fall for their schemes. The lone dealer who did not use this approach was Goldin Solar. We met with a local representative, Charles Stadelman, at our home. Charles listened to us as we explained our needs and goals and then told us what Goldin could do for us, explained the process including the engineering of the system, inspections, installation phases, utility company hookup and a timetable for completion. He again met with us a short time later with pricing for the system. We were very comfortable working with him and the price was acceptable. We ended up with an 8.16 kw system with two Tesla power walls. Based on our previous electrical usage this system would be adequate for our needs and would be acceptable to our electric utility company for bidirectional grid connection. We signed the contract in the second quarter of 2021. 2021 was a very challenging year for businesses dealing with Covid related shortages for materials, labor and even governmental office shortages for permitting and engineering approvals. Again, this was a challenging climate in which to accomplish such a project. Goldin Solar assigns a project manager for each project. The project manager's function is to coordinate between the homeowner and the company. Unfortunately, our first project manager, unbeknownst to Goldin or ourselves, had accepted a position with another company right after being assigned to our job and was not responsive to our needs or to the project. This was unfortunate but Goldin dealt with it as soon as they became aware and we were assigned another project manager. Between the new project manager and her supervisor our project got on track and we progressed through the phases. Our system went live in early February, 2022. There was good coordination between Goldin, the utility company and us. The system is mindless to use. There is no effort on our part to use this. We have gone through two hurricanes which caused power outages but with the Tesla power walls we were completely unaffected. The only way that we were aware of the outages was because all of our neighbors were in the dark. We have also purchased an electric vehicle. For a year now I have not had to purchase gasoline and all the vehicle charging is accomplished with solar electricity. Cool! Our electric bill consists only of the utility company's minimum monthly connection charge. I highly recommend Goldin Solar. The optimizer has been replaced. All the parts for the solar panels have been replaced and they're damaged again. Seek elsewhere if you're looking for help in my opinion. We were happy with our solar panels until we realized there was a leak in our roof due to a screw not being sealed properly by Goldin Solar. They came out twice to fix the issue but never resolved the problem. After still not being fixed we contacted them again and they said it wasn't their fault or problem our roof was leaking. They blamed it on the roof being old and "termite damage" - even though we had our exterminator and an architect come out to evaluate the situation, both writing letters stating it was NOT a roof or termite issue and in fact a solar panel issue. To this day they have fixed nothing and we have a leak in the room along with mold now and yet they still refuse to do anything. This company is a scam and will do nothing to correct their mistakes or problems they have caused. read more

After the sales process, the installation process was fast, efficient, along with great communication. The PM stayed in touch, made sure my questions were answered, and kept me in the loop. I had a major problem: I live on a street with no natural gas so there was no easy generator option for back up power in the event of an FPL outage. If you live in SoFL long enough, chances are you're going to live through a prolonged, hurricane caused power outage be it one night or two weeks. I needed a solution! First, I got a quote from a propane company which included buying a tank, burying said tank, power connections, generator, and tank replenishment. Those were not inconsequential costs, probably because until recently there were really no other viable options. Frustrated, I started to research solar power (this is the Sunshine State after all). Solar, as I have come to find out, is a game changer! While Solar is not "cheap" the economics are more compelling than I initially thought. My sales person, Liz, really spent a lot of time helping me run through all the math. And here's where it gets good... Everyone talks about the "payback" of solar as the difference between the power company providing power vs going solar. It's a dated argument! Here's what Liz helped me understand: - Solar provides power during the day offsetting part of your utility bill - FPL has Peak Periods meaning on sunny days you're not using "expensive" power - during the evenings, power is cheaper and my house demand is lower - FPL has "net-metering" which means that if your solar panels produce MORE than your house consumes, you actually are a power provider for FPL. Rather than paying for power consumed you're getting paid for power produced! Not only are you not spending money but you're actually making money on sunny days! - currently (2020/2021) there is a 26% direct tax credit against the purchase/installation of solar + batteries reducing your expenditure As Liz and I did the math, the "Payback" became much shorter! The cost of solar - the power returned to the grid - the propane tank/generator is now closer to seven years! And I haven't even touched on the real benefit: the power outage. Goldin sells Tesla's Powerwalls. Liz helped me compute my nighttime needs, and with just a little bit of sun i can power my house and charge my batteries during an outage. The Powerwalls supply the power for the AC, Fridge, Freezer and fans throughout the night! One last thing: the Powerwalls make almost no noise! So you have quiet nighttime power! As to the installation from Goldin, I have to give a special shout-out to Salko and Edwin. These gentlemen were awesome. They let me know, step by step, what they were doing and why. They were meticulous in their work and there was nary a scrap or a nail throughout the process. In short: I would recommend Solar Power as a means for back up power. I would HIGHLY recommend Goldin Solar to do the work on your house. * Liz did a great job throughout the process including being the liaison if i had questions post-sale. * Yesenia was my project manager and made the process and permits effortless on my behalf. * Salko and Edwin were first rate and did an awesome job throughout the installation and left me their contact info if i had post installation issues (none 45 days later). Before I contracted with Godin Solar to install my solar system, I completed extensive research on solar installation companies and equipment manufacturers. As a pilot and organizational psychologist, I fully understand and appreciate the importance of both the technology used and the company that installs/services the equipment. After extensive research I selected Goldin Solar based on their use of the most advanced solar technology available on the market and knowing that their technicians (versus an unknown contractor) would install my system. Additionally, I felt comfortable knowing that they will still be around as a company to service my system for years to come. My system went live on 2/21/2022 and was producing more power than expected. Everything worked as advertised but then there was an inverter and battery issue which degraded my system. Goldin Solar wasn't our first solar company we looked at. The whole reason why we wanted solar was to have a way to power the house during a hurricane when FPL power was down. The first company we looked at didn't fit this requirement. Our neighbor told us about Goldin and that they offered a solution with a battery backup. We contacted Goldin and they sent out a salesman to discuss our options. They worked with us to get financing though the Florida Pace Program. Madelin, my project manager was amazing. She worked with my schedule to get the solar installed and she walked me thru the process and answered all my questions. Aldo, my installation manager made sure I was happy with installation, and made sure that the system was operational. I am sure there are several people behind the scenes that deserve my thanks as well, from the engineers, installers and electricians. There were a few things that didn't go as expected or discussed, however after talking to Goldin about these issues, I feel Goldin has addressed each of my concerns appropriately. There are a lot of companies that are pushing solar these days. Most of these companies are from California, it's nice to work with a local company. It helps our economy, and I find that local companies are more responsive. I feel that Goldin is a solid company that would work hard to make sure you get the product and service you need. I wanted to add this one bit of information, on my first day of power generation the monitoring tool said I remove enough CO2 that it was an equivalent of planting two trees. I have had several quotes and spoken to a few friends and family that have been installed by Goldin. They didn't install for over 6 months and the inverters they offer are complete garbage. Working with Goldin Solar was incredibly easy. They took care of all the hard work and I hardly had to lift a finger. Prices were a bit steep and I am certain there are better prices out there, but not with same level service. Dalton, my project manager, was very helpful along the way and incredibly responsive in keeping me up to date with the process. We did have some hiccups due to permits and delayed inspections, but that was also resolved without my help which takes a huge stress off your shoulders. We went to Goldin Solar as a certified installer for Tesla. They presented us with a price and a contract. After back and forth with Joe the engineer and Charles still not sure what he does. We decided to go with Goldin. When we called Joe who didn't return our calls we called Charles to tell him we would like to go ahead. He said ok let me get to the principles and get started. The only reason I did not rate them the highest if because of what happened after the installation was completed. They did not remove the lien on my title immediately after the installation. Installation was ok. After installation, they have no customer support. I am not getting replies from the project manager nor the main office after months of attempts. I did not build up any credits from the cooler months, which I should have. So, now my bills are larger than expected. They sell you on the return on investment, but if that doesn't turn out to be the case, then don't expect them to help you figure it out. Even if the system is ok and turns out that we did not install enough panels, I would be ok with that. But I do not know if that is the case or if something is wrong with the system or if all panels are not transmitting back to the main trunk line for FPL. Well, we started this process way back in October of 2018, and we had the panels installed in March, and we are still not done with the process. The salesman promised all kinds of things, but a lot of it was not placed in the contract. Overall, not impressed with any part of this company. They never sent us the survey and then we found out when they were placing the panels on the roof that we wouldn't get what we thought we would because of a tree. Have you ever looked at endless positive product or service feedback and asked yourself "is this fake, generated by the employees? I am not an employee nor did I know anyone at at Goldin Solar. I did 6 months of painstaking research into local providers. I requested contact information for customers both satisfied and those with complaints. Goldin gave me a comprehensive list (with customers permission) to speak with and visit. For those of you who don't want lengthy reading, I will give you an early summary. My system went live the last week in April. I have the smaller of the 2 tiered systems. April May marked the start of rainy season. Clouds block the sun anywhere from 10% to 90% of the day. Of course clouds are the enemy of solar power. Last years May FPL bill was almost $300. With one full month of overcast days and guessing that my system is working at 60% due to the clouds, my May bill came it at $56. Since my system went online with the start of heavy A.C. use, I won't start building credits until fall. I then expect my FPL bills to drop to -$0-. Their salespersons were not pushy. They didn't have a canned presentation with "special incentives" if you "sign now". I had endless questions that they patiently answered. They have been solidly in business in South Florida for a number of years. South Florida is littered with "Solar companies" here yesterday and gone today. Some of the other companies who also gave me a bid actually are not installers and use Goldin as their sub contractors. Painless from start to finish. Yesenia was my contact at Goldin. She handled everything from permits to scheduling. She was accessible before, during, and after business hours (weekends also). Aaron in sales was was a good guy and site manager Aldo was always available when I had questions. Two comments to wrap up. I walk the walk. Call Goldin if you want to speak with me or see my system and if you are in a hurry and want solar tomorrow don't purchase solar.
