The condition of this location is deplorable. Broken, ragged equipment that has remained unchanged for nearly a year. I had thought that the funding that we get charged would start going towards repairs. After nearly a year I realized nothing was changing. I had initially started at the Lenoir City location which is state of the art and clean, lives up to the true reputation of Golds. So much pride in that location! It's disheartening that the Golds Gym Franchise isn't consistent. The employees here are nice though! That's the only highlight. The new guy was polite, every front desk associate has been attentive and nice. Only downfall was tonight's missing second employee who could've helped me cancel. I joined Armor Gym a bit further away and they set the bar high. I hope with the feedback from me and others on your yelp/google reviews that this location improves someday. read more

The gym is okay, but it needs a LOT of updates and help. The floor is very worn put and needs to be replaced. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting - old, dirty, broken down and needs to be completely remodeled. The steam room doesn't work - its a storage room. Wow I've been going to Gyms for close to 40 years now and this has to be the most disgusting gyms I've ever been to. I went into the sauna and noticed that it was extremely dirty and then when I looked underneath the benches I found food bags and wrappers sitting on the floor with caked on dirt. I also noticed what looked like possible mold so I took photos. I brought this to the attention of the manager who was quite unprofessional and tried to then put the onus back on me asking why I didn't pick up the trash and said I was "one of those guys"! Lol, that has to be some kind of joke. Where do they train these guys. This gym is an absolute petri dish for mold and bacteria and needs to be shut down by the health department. read more

Two stars is generous, but I do want to first say the positive. Although I had a miserable experience all the way around with this gym, I would like to say a word about the female manager I spoke with on the phone. I really wish I had gotten her name, but I hope she reads this. She listened with an empathetic ear and sincerely apologized for my experience. That meant a lot. That is the way to handle a complaint. I'm not sure what happened with my card, but I was first told there were insufficient funds by one person and then told I had an invalid card by someone else. I never received notice that my card was attempted to be debited. I did sign a contract, so I knew I was fully responsible. Lucas K from accounts did offer to waive the cancelation fee of $129. What I was asking was to keep the membership and ask if they would waive that amount off the $235 I owed. They refused. Still, it's my responsibility. I asked if they would allow me to come on that day to workout at least, and he told me no. I was told by someone on the phone that I could come in one time because I had never used my free visit. Truly, what made this an awful experience was to be accused of giving "falsehoods" and "intentionally refusing" to listen to what Ray in accounting had told me. That was not the case. It was completely unprofessional and unnecessary to handle a situation in such a way, especially when I was very polite to her. I asked Lucas to kindly not message me back until it pertained to my account, and he completely disrespected that by emailing back to defend himself. I wasted that morning going back and forth with him that really had nothing to do with my account, but rather whether or not he was pleasant. I regret emailing him. Also, when I called later in the day, a new employee who was not there knew the entire situation. It was really bizarre. I was to the point of literal tears when Lucus finally agreed to only charge me the cancelation fee. I appreciated that. But the way I was treated by Ray and then the phone call that escalated between myself and Lucas was just unbelievable. Customer care does not seem to be Gold's Gym strong suit, and I hope that moving forward, they take steps to relate to their members with professionalism. Also, the person at the front desk did not know if they had hot yoga, which is the reason I chose that specific membership. I came back last night because my phone call was not returned by the district manager Hudson. Two other guests came in to ask where Body Pump was being held, and they were told there was no class at that time. Upon looking at the schedule, the guests said that it was on the schedule. These are important things to know as part of your responsibility. I did reach out to the corporate number provided and left two messages, but my calls were never returned. I wish I had read the reviews before joining or at least toured the facility first. I hold myself accountable for this. I am grateful that I was only charged the cancelation fee in the end, but it was sad I was to the point of tears. I would rather pay twice as much for a yoga studio to be treated better. To be accused of these things is completely unacceptable, unhelpful, and rude. We exchanged nine emails, and there was absolutely no attempt to resolve the issue. Had I been able to reach a corporation office or customer relations representative, this issue may have been avoided. I was told by Austin K, the person handling my account, that I was "threatening to leave negative reviews." There was no such threat. I told him that I would be leaving a review of my experience. Period. To suggest that sharing my experience was malicious or a threat was innoqivically incorrect. Having a poor experience and then posting it is valid. There are definite ways to improve on ways a customer's issue can be handled in a more professional manner. You lost my business and the family member I wanted to add. read more

I go to Gold's everyday. It's reasonable priced and the members and staff are nice. There are a lot of variety of machines and free weights as well as cardio equipment. I recommend this gym to anyone in the Knoxville area. read more

Overall, we are pleased. I believe staff is trying to stay on top of equipment repairs. I would like to see more dusting and cleaning specially in the locker rooms, but it is acceptable, we give you a 4. I really want to give a shout out to the personal trainers, Garrison and Nick. They have been training my husband and I since January and it is really starting to show. Thanks guys, you've done a good job of keeping us engaged and excited to come work out. We give you a 5! I keep two gym memberships. Here and Planet Fitness. Just in case one is closed. Both have gone the way of most other businesses and cut their hours, probably due to the fact that too few of these kids want to work. So despite how annoyed and inconvenient it is that they are not truly open 24 / 7 like they used to be (weekends), I prefer this gym because of their equipment and the nice childcare that they offer. Being a single dad, it's the only way that I have to at least get a work out in once and a while. And I truly appreciate that. As I write this, it is 2 30 am and I am jonesing to go to they gym as they kids are with their mom, but again, the 24 hour gyms are closed. Not cool. The manager of the gym happened to be on the day my naive 20 yr old son walked in. He convinced my son who is in college that he needed personal training to the tune of $350/mo!!!!! My son, all trusting, regrettably signed up for this and when we found out and tried to help him get out of the mess this gym caused him, he got taken for $3000 to sever the contract. NO business should ever take advantage of people the way this one did. My son should have known better, but let's be honest we have all made some mistakes in our finances at a young age....but in this case I think he was pushed into this decision by the manager. This place I will dearly miss. I think most people have to find their gym that they call home. It's not perfect but everyone is so welcoming. There is a lot of buff guys and amazing bodies everywhere but it's not a deterrent for me because it just makes me want to work harder to look like that. I can see how some people says it's intimidating at first but get a personal trainer and don't give up on yourself. Every day takes work. I love this place. Yes it's dirty at times but it just adds more ambience to the place. Your there to work hard and pour out sweat. ‍ in February they updated a lot of equipment. I have seen the same people everyday for months and I am just so impressed in their transformations. Every day there is progress! Just a heads up they were giving you a chance to preview the gym with a one day free pass for local residents, but even though it is still on their website it isn't available. So not only is it false advertising they wouldn't even let you pay for a day or week workout like most places do. Nope it's a scam to get you in the door and seek you a minimum 2 month membership. No wonder this once trusted and successful chain of gyms has the poor reputation along with not seen as an industry leader today. There are so many better options locally that care about their customers as they should especially now in these times customer service is paramount. Employees don't know current policies. Called two days ahead to make sure that I had a gym that did day passes and to make sure I was in-line with current COVID policies, once I drove up from Florida. Drove an additional 30 minutes from where we were staying, only to find out from the GM that they can't take non-members based on TN's absurd laws about COVID reopenings. When I explained I'm only here for three days, but would pay for a monthly membership, she explained that I would have to pay for a minimum of two months ($40+) and a $40 annual fee... even though there is a huge banner outside that says "$10/month no strings". I'm not sure how this keeps people any safer than day passes and it's also just a scammy way to run memberships in general. I wow Inter simply because the employee Amarah has made sure things have been right SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW!!! she has been positive, she has replaced the the sanitation spray bottles were all replaced even when the night guy hasn't done crap or replaced them. It's extremely dirty in the changing area. The cables are all almost broken now if not off track causing the cables to not work right. People spam them all day and nobody says a thing, but yoll are so quick to make a sign about putting up weights...but yoll have failed to mention to be respectful of equipment. The cables are my favorite and I can't hardly use them because the abuse they take. I know the owner knows. IDs impossible not to notice the messed up cables looking like trash. The staff up front is sub par at best with massive egos. They are friends with this guy with a dog and let's him just take off his shirt and walk around the gym when everyone knows shirts should be on while on the gym floor. That goes for him and all his friends in early 20s. Get control of your gym! The free weights are all unorganized sense re organizing stuff and needs to be fixed. The front counter guy who is short with tattoos literally laughed when I asked and said "yeah we aren't going to move them back it's to much work and heavy." This is hilarious because it's a gym. Get your weights right or I may change gyms, it's bs what this gym has become. A hook up place for old men to stair and make your uncomfortable. read more

I do not like that corporate wide they are no longer 24/7 so I unfortunately will have to be cancelling my membership and going to planet fitness since they hours now don't work for me. I have been a member there since 2010, and for the most part have liked it. However, since golds took over, it has progressively gone downhill. The place is usually dirty and the equipment is always broken. If you want to use a stairmaster, forget it. At least one of their three have been broken for the last three years. I'm in town for the weekend so I decided to go get a workout in last night. As soon as I get there I'm greeted by a nice young lady. I forgot to get a travel pass before leaving my hometown of Augusta but she looked at my scan card and immediately recognized I had the vip membership. 10/10 on her part for recognizing that. The actual gym experience was amazing. I was in awe at all the machines and rooms that they had. I've been to about 6 golds gyms through the years and this one is the best. First golds gym I've seen that has a pool! The men's locker room was well kept and had no complaints. Overall I fell in love with this gym and can't wait to go back tonight!! read more

We are a family that was displaced from SC due to hurricane Dorian, while we were staying in Knoxville we wanted to find a gym that we could use because the hotel gym was far from adequate for what we needed. We signed up for a three day pass so we could use the gym but unfortunately I had left my wallet and ID in the hotel room when we got there. The staff was extremely helpful and within 10 minutes they had figured out a plan and a way for both my wife, myself and our little one being able to use the daycare so we could workout while we were displaced. The facility was also perfect as it has a good selection of free weights and machines to be able to get a good mix of whatever workout you would like from HIT to powerlifting along with a aquatics section to be able to get some swimming in. I would highly recommend this fitness facility for the amenities and the helpful staff. read more

If I could give Gold's zero stars I would. They are great when you're a member. But I went to cancel my membership because the Maryville location had closed. The employee said I didn't need to cancel my membership and that it would transfer over to National fitness; I just had to go over there. I have now been charged for three months unbeknownst to me. After being charged two months, I noticed. I was told, contradicting what the employee initially said, that my home location wasn't maryville, so yes I did need to cancel and no they would not refund me due to their employee's incompetence. They assured me I would not be charged for August. And low and behold, I was charged again. They said I wouldn't be refunded bc it takes 30 days to cancel. So I wouldn't ever recommend anyone going to Gold's bc if you ever have any issues or need to cancel, they only care about the money and not the customer. Shout out to Phil at walker springs location for listening to me rant. But the company still would rather keep the money they got as a result of their employee's error instead of refund a customer that should have never been charged to begin with... read more

I wish I could rate this zero stars because 1 is too many. I realize that all gyms come with a certain level of dirtiness but this gym, along with the Farragut one, is by far the filthiest. The only cleaning I ever witness is an occasional vacuuming by a hispanic lady. The equipment itself is NEVER cleaned by staff let alone patrons. You may be thinking to yourself that I may not be working out at a time when they are cleaning equipment but I assure you I work out mornings, afternoons and sometimes nights depending on my schedule and NEVER have I seen staff cleaning the equipment. Truly never. And sure, $30/mo is a somewhat reasonable price for the decent albeit filthy equipment they have but you will be charged an annual 'maintenance fee' that will be applied to nothing but the inside of the managers' pockets. Full soap dispensers and paper towels are a rare commodity. The mens bathroom is literally falling apart and one of the stalls is held together with duct tape! I wish I was joking or exaggerating but I'm not! I've been a member for two years now and initially joined when it was The Rush but now I will take my money elsewhere. I suppose it's my own dumbass fault for keeping with this company when my locked locker was broken into 6 months ago and the manager dodged all my calls and emails requesting to watch the surveillance footage in hopes of catching the guy - the person at the front desk told me I would need a court order for that? Look elsewhere people. They may have a reputable name but they suck here in Knoxville. read more

I have been a member of this gym for about 10 years now.I can not believe the the way they treat their member . Recently I received a notice from a collection agency about the payment I disputed . 1st this is not a case of non payment and is a case of disputed payment ,why they sent this case to a Collection Agency ? Trying to intimate me ? While Gold Gym should be working on their reply to VISA about the disputed charge, they took an easy way out . Total dollar amount in dispute is $ 540 . I have paid $270.00 for one month weight training but they claimed that I signed a 3 month contract therefore I owned them $540. They can very easily sent this info to Visa and let Visa decide the outcome of this case, I would definitely comply with the final decision made by Visa.But Gold Gym billing department just disregarded Visa request for their input,and sent this case to a collection agency . And the thing upset me the most is that they keep sending me this pre- recorded phone messages threatening me that if I don't pay in 5 days they will send this case to collection agency ( they already did) and terminate my membership. Let me ask Gold Gym management, Is this right way to treat your member? And besides ,we can not call your billing department in Huston,TX(?)only local manager can . I talked 6 to the local office manager a couple weeks ago, she called the billing department . After that she told me don't worry and they are working on the reply to Visa. But again I received today this phone message from Gold Gym threatening me if I don't pay ..........It has been two months since Visa initially requested the Gold Gym response to the disputed charge ,I honestly believe that they are not going to submit any response and will rather resort to the collection agency. read more
