Located on Highway 1 just W of Craigellachie, this has to be the coolest-looking restaurant in the…read morearea. Hands down. According to the website, the "building" used to be a waste wood burner from a nearby mill. To get here, I would suggest approach turning onto Oxbow Frontage road from the E side, no matter which direction you're heading on Highway 1. If you want to approach/leave to the W, you'll need to drive several kilometres of Oxbow, and it's not the straightest road. Parking is available in front. The building is actually both a liquor store and a restaurant with a shared entrance. The inside is beautifully done, with nice wood paneling, and vintage (1900s?) chairs. I'm sure the furniture isn't really that old, but it reminded me of an old mining museum. Service is friendly, and is quite quick. The place serves your typical pub fare, with burgers, steaks, wraps, and sandwiches. I had the Burner burger. Loaded with tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, pickels, bacon, and some nice gooey cheese (I think it was processed), and good fries. A bit *too* much toppings, as I was spilling all over trying to eat the thing. Decent fries as well. As for the liquor store, they do have some local brews from Revelstoke Brewery. They seem to have some products that aren't available at the time (aka out of season) at the BC Liquor Stores, so I'd check these out if you want a unique gift. Somewhat decent food, but a really really awesome building. Swing by if you're hungry.

Great service, unfortunately food is just ok. Lots of fried foods, burgers, soups…read more Expensive for quantity served. Not a revisit!

Not sure about the restaurant but the hotel rooms cold, tiny, and absolutely crawling with bugs…read more It's disgusting and I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight. The window ledge is covered in dead bugs and there's spider webs in the corners of the room. The bathtub is dirty and extremely shallow and I was hoping to have a bath tonight after spending 12 hours on the road. They also don't have complimentary shampoo or conditioner; only soap. No fridge so I guess my food is going to go bad overnight. I am extremely disappointed and I wouldn't recommend this dump to anyone. This place is a piss stain.

I was traveling by bus for 2.5 days when our bus got stranded in Revelstoke B.C. for 36 hrs due to…read moreroad closures. The bus depot is at a convenience store which has a motel attached and this restaurant. Many folks slept on the bus the first night but some of us checked into the motel. The motel needs a lot of updates but I was happy to be sleeping in a bed and not upright in a bus seat. Also, the market really needs to be cleared out and restocked. Very random selection of merchandise. The next night a lot more people checked into the motel and some more adventurous kids took the 20 minute walk into the downtown area in the snow to crash at hostels or other hotel options. The bus company paid for four meals from Ol' Frontier for each person so we got pretty acquainted with the restaurant. I like their corned beef hash breakfast. Not a fan of their bacon and the pizza is just okay. The wait staff is great, however, don't come hungry because they are not assigned tables so even if you got there first someone who came in after you could get their order in and food first. I guess I didn't mind too much because I had nowhere to be. The fireplace in the dining area of the restaurant was my hangout spot for most of the 36 hours being stuck in town. Revelstoke is gorgeous. I look forward to returning when I can come and go without worry that the bus will leave me behind. I want to come back and check out the epic mountain and skiing I hear about. Maybe I'll stop by Ol' Frontier for a beer.
