A really fun 18 hole miniature golf course right in the heart of Avalon. It's the only miniature golf course in town, but even if there were others, this one would still be worth visiting. It's laid out pretty well, is all outdoors but has a lot of tree cover and is fairly close to the ocean which is certainly not common for the usual mini courses. It's $15 for adults and the staff member at the window was very polite. We were playing as two adults who were just looking for a way to kill time during our three day visit to Catalina and honestly had a great time. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the island and I would play again in the future because the course was pretty well maintained aside from some debris around. Give it a try! read more

Each course had a sign at the start that showed a map of the course and some even included a note of where the best place to aim for was. Just being outside and playing some mini golf in the cool sea air is wonderful! The garden is no joke, so many pretty succulents and California native plants. Play 18 holes and just enjoy the pretty scenery. We didn't wait for holes as they designed it pretty well. They put enough challenging and fun layouts to keep it varied. No food or drinks, just mini golf. Adults are $15 and kids/seniors are $12 I believe. If you have some time to kill, come and play a round. The cost is not much compared to the other activities in the area. Just bring a roadie and you are set! read more

Golf Gardens was located directly across from our Hotel Atwater - altho all of Avalon actives are walkable and close together. I had read Mini Golf was a great must do with kids so we stopped in yesterday and the course did not disappoint. 18 holes. Incredible landscaping and such well maintained structures. The course was super fun for all of us (adult, 13 yr old, 11 yr old and 8yr old) The paths were not wheel chair friendly - however, we were able to move my mom from bench to bench btwn each hole. They were nicely shaded and convenient for her to sit and watch as she did not golf but still wanted to watch her grandchildren. I would highly recommend this activity to all ages. Overall course time took us about 1hr 15 mins... it wasn't busy and we were able to take our time and truly enjoy the visit. Yazmin was working the front desk when we checked in.. she was so incredibly kind to us all. Thank you for being wonderful! We would absolutely revisit Golf Gardens again if we find ourselves on Catalina in the future. read more

Staff: Very nice staff. The man at the payment window was very friendly. Got us set up and ready to play quickly. Towards the end someone had a small cut so I asked for a band aide and he was more than happy to provide one. Great service! Quality: I was very pleasantly surprised by the course. The 3 stars is for the glow golf because every time you hit the ball it turns the glow in the dark off. So if you are coming for the glow golf at night, you may be disappointed. This is an island based on tourism and we have played here every year (multiple times) for 30 years and with customer service like that, you need to revisit your training of employees. This place is such a fun family destination in Catalina! Take a few hours to play the 18 hole course in a picturesque setting. Skip the botanical garden because you will see more flowers here. We had so much fun with our 7 month old since we adults have not played mini golf since we were children. It's a challenging putt putt course but you won't find any windmills or machinery. I honestly thought it wasn't going to be as fun as other places....BUT I wad WRONG! Their course was actually pretty fun. I went in January, but definitely enjoyed it. It was one of our last activities before boarding our ferry. It was not expensive. We stayed at Hotel Atwater which is literally across the street. It was pretty long, but each hole is interesting and some are actually not that easy as they seem. We did this on a Sunday around noon. It was a little busy, but everyone was friendly. There were like 2 groups of 5+ people. We were behind them, but they let us go first. Next time I'm in Catalina I am definitely doing this again. read more

The price is very reasonable and honestly I would have thought it would have been more considering how long this course is and the unique courses they offer! We loved it so much. The staff was friendly and I loved how they had little cubbies at the front to place your stuff while you played. There were a lot of holes so it took us a little while to get through but all of the holes were so interesting and unique! We showed up about 1pm and the weather was beautiful, no wind! But the course was loaded with leaves. You would have thought that they would have blown off the course that morning. Located centrally in town. Right next to Vons, if you want to grab a drink or snack before play. Staff is friendly. Course is very well manicured and clean. The gardens are really pretty and makes the course a more special experience. The Par 6 right in the middle of the course can hold people up that are waiting behind. A little patience is recommended and necessary. The cost is a little expensive for mini golf, but it is a fun course to play. Would love to go back the next time I'm on the island. read more

This is the best miniature golf course I have ever played. It is the right amount of challenging with unique holes that encourage competition. The lush gardens are such a welcome back drop to this super cool course. I enjoyed the shade of the trees on the warm summer day I visited. The plants were beautiful and well taken care of. It is to note that there were a few areas on the course where the trees are uprooting the concrete, and I did not notice and tripped. So just be mindful of where you are stepping when you are moving to the next hole. Prices are super reasonable. It took roughly an hour to go through all 18 holes with three players. Only 1 out of 5 of us were able to make a hole in one throughout the game. Protip: they have signs next to each course that shows you which way you should hit your ball. Unlike some of the other experiences or restaurants on the island, this mini golf course is a 5 star anywhere, not just in the context of the other island offerings. The course is really challenging, but it has so much variety in the holes that we really find ourselves amazed every time. Since we only play it once a year, we really are able to enjoy the uniqueness of it. They must have just refurbished the course because all the greens look new (we noticed last year it was getting a little shabby) and a lot of the different areas seem like they've been through a thorough cleaning. A 4.5 star mini golf course? Who would think a mini golf place could get such high ratings? Well now I know why! Golf Gardens was so much fun! Not to mention that the 'gardens' part of it are beautiful too! We came after reading the Yelp reviews, and I'm so glad e made time to stop and play a round. It was not crowded when we got there, and we were greeted by Mighty the cat sleeping near the entrance. We paid and received our clubs and then were showed a rack of probably 10 colors of balls! All shiny and new! Very impressive! We received a discount because 2 of the holes were under construction. The holes were creative and challenging and all well maintained. And with the construction going on, it is apparent that they keep the place fresh too! Only had issues on a couple holes, where our balls got stuck in the pipes. The grounds are beautiful. Lots of flowers to take pictures of and admire. All in all, it was a fun way to spend some time with the family. I highly recommend stopping by! read more
