It's been six years since my last review and time for an update…read more My buddy/co-worker S Fulwider is always giving me grief about not being spontaneous. Today, I called him at 10a and told him we had a 1p tee time and he was ready to say 'yes' after he cleared the deck of the 'honey do list'. The traffic was thick North on I-77 from Fort Mill but no grid lock so we made it in 20minutes and still had time to hit a bucket of balls. Jay is 'still' there, he's a fixture at this place and has been for at least the last 6 years since I retired and started playing there. They are no longer under Radcliffe Management but under Troon. Their 'on-line' booking website is excellent. IF you're playing solo, you're REQUIRED to call and book. We made the 9 hole round in 1 hr, 45 minutes and it was busy. We had a slow three some walking in front of us. It's hard to beat the price on this muni when you can get a Senior AND Vet discount and play for less than $30 bucks. Fulwider was pleased with the experience except on hole #9, the finishing par 5, he swears a blacksnake ate his ball. Always a nice change of pace but at prime time, Friday to Sun you will be challenged to get a time time and pace of play.

They also have an outside driving range where you hit off natural grass. Both are lighted as they stay open until 9pm There is also a dedicated chipping area. There is a dedicated putting area which is really exceptional. It's set up like a 18 hole putting green similar to a putt putt course. There is not a single flat area on the putting course, it's all swales and ridges so you will really be challenged. In addition they have two golf simulators you can rent by the half hour or hour. You can register for free membership to get your bucket of balls at a discount of $1.00. Interestingly most all the balls are Titlest range balls which is a plus. Inside there is an attendant who will rent the balls, There are 3 different size buckets, small, medium and large. The small gets you about 70 balls and runs $10.75 They sell used and new clubs and golf bags. You can buy individuals clubs or a full set. They also sell golf apparel including shoes. You can get cold sodas and bottled water as well. This is a first class facility part of the First Tee Organization of Greater Charlotte. You'll find that on certain days/hours there will be a lot of youngsters practicing so you can ask the attendant about the best times to visit.

I had been retired about a year and decided that I wanted to devote some time to playing golf. I've played on and off since I was about 14 years old but decided if I was going to play more frequently, I need to get some formal instruction. I signed up for an introductory lesson which went very well. Brent expressed the importance of first being able to make contact with the ball. We went through several drills where he had me use several clubs and just hit tees. He made a lot of sense to me and with some basic fundamentals I decided I was ready for the next steps. I purchased the package with four lessons. Brent's very good at listening to what you want to accomplish and assessing and evaluating your current game and then putting together a plan that works for you. One of the lessons was a full hour on his swing analyzer. I would highly recommend Brent, He is a certified PGA Golf Instructor. He has a professional manner and talks in easy to understand terms about the swing and the fundamentals of golf. He offers instruction to a variety of skill levels and provides instruction to a Junior team that competes in North & South Carolina.

I called early on Wed morning and asked about the SuperStroke Zynergy Pistol. They had it in stock so I when I showed up they were not to busy. I was assisted by Matt Smith who helped me pick out the right size grip, did a quick measure on the club length and said it would be a few minutes. I walked next door to Home Depot for a few minutes and by the time I got back it was all done. I asked Mr Smith about Vet discount, he said "I'm sorry, I apologize we don't have that" He was sincere about it and it wasn't the first time I heard that. It was a great experience and so I recommend these guys once again. You won't be disappointed!
