The fairway's are wide open the greens are soft and fast and the 30 dollars greens fee includes the cart and a small spot to have a cold beer as you relive your inability to play golf. The course itself is in tremendous shape, with greens rolling smooth, bunkers raked to perfection, and fairways trimmed like a royal garden. What really sets Olympia apart is the wildlife. You're not just playing golf here, you're putting on a show for the locals. At one point, I had a 12-point buck watching me line up my drive like he was ready to hand out a scorecard. You can't duff a shot with that kind of audience. It makes you bring out your A game whether you're ready or not. Now, why only four stars? Simple. Cartgirls. Or rather, the lack of them. Maybe saw one during the entire round, and by then I was halfway to dehydration. For $80 a round, I'd expect a little more consistency in the refreshment department. That, and the price itself. Let's be honest, $80 is a bit rich these days, especially when you've got to plead your case just to get out of the house. Try explaining to your significant other that you spent over $100 on what you're calling a four-hour vacation. Didn't go down too smooth at mine, I'll tell you that. Still, Olympia delivers where it counts. It's scenic, challenging, and has just enough Texas charm to make you forget the price tag for a few holes. Next time, though, let's get a second cartgirl on duty and we might be talking five stars.
