I got the Oolong Milk Tea with Pearls and I was extremely disappointed to be given what tasted like milky water. I couldn't even taste the tea. Boba was overly soft. The Right Guy at the Right Time So today I wanted a boba in the worst way. This isn't surprising as ever since discovering boba I have craved them daily. I began looking for boba that was close to the area where my husband was running errands. I found Gong Cha at 417 York Road in Towson. Gong Cha's drink menu was fantastic. I chose two drinks, quickly adding them to my online order. I had questions so I called Gong Cha three times, at least two of those times speaking to R.J. R.J.. couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. He went above and beyond to accommodate my (extreme?) requests. After convincing my husband to pick up my drinks, I sat back and waited. Now, my husband wasn't thrilled about getting my drinks, however, after meeting J.R. his mood changed. "R.J. was so nice; he couldn't have been nicer". my husband repeated over and over. When my drinks came, one hot and one cold, I took turns sipping from them. The hot tea latte was perfectly delish and felt wonderful on this cold day. I alternated this with my Lychee Smoothie which was delightfully refreshing and completely energized me. My drinks were really, really good; I felt very indulged having two such special drinks at once. Today was a very good day. Please Try Gong Cha. The drinks are very special and yes, indulgent. I've got a pretty simple list of things that will make me happy. Do they have a chocolate or Oreo based drink? Does the drink still taste good with 50% sugar? Is the boba good quality? Gong Cha met some of those for me but not so much for others. I placed an order with multiple drinks so I was able to get an idea of what others in my group thought as well. I was pleased that they had a chocolate based drink but to be honest the flavor felt pretty weak. The boba was pretty good, but not as good as the boba from my regular shop. The other people I ordered drinks from said that their drinks were a little sweet also. Nothing was terribly wrong with anything but none of us were overly happy with what we got. I brought a bunch of friends here for their grand opening! I'm always on the hunt for more boba near me. The menu has a lot of options. I ended up getting the dirty brown sugar milk tea, which seemed like one of their popular drinks. In my opinion, it was still a bit too sweet after adjusting the sugar level and everything. I'll try a different drink in the future with more tea flavor, but otherwise, they did a great job! Lovely space inside with lots of photo opps. I don't remember it having much space for groups to hangout inside though. Service was enthusiastic and fast. COVID times - there is a temperature check upon entering the store. I might be just a little bit obsessed with Gong Cha. There's just something about the star shaped peach jellies and the sparkling drinks on a warm day that speak to me. Yes, it's a chain and yes, there is another bubble tea place just mere steps away but the staff here is super nice, I can very easily order from the Clover app, and they have an extensive menu of classic and unique offerings. I might give Vivi Bubble Tea a leg up on the Brown Sugar Milk tea but thus far all the others at Gong Cha win out. Finally The Gong Cha new location is open!! Great bubble tea shop. That's the newest Gong Cha in Towson, MD. The shop itself is very cute, clean, and has a nice atmosphere. If you look at the interior of the angel wings, anyone will love this store. Gong Cha really focuses on the quality of their tea. This location is no exception. Gong Cha has a ton of options in terms of flavors, toppings, the quantity of ice/sugar, and the like.  All of it is surprisingly delicious. All of their locations are pretty consistent. I was really satisfied with the service, employees were friendly and I received my drink pretty quickly, despite it being quite busy Staff is always nice and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to make recommendations and explain the different teas and flavors that they had. Just opened in Towson! It's almost right across from Kung Fu Tea. Love that they offer dirty brown sugar drinks (similar to Tiger Sugar's) and theirs can be modified to have a different sugar level and can be made into milk tea! Nice ambiance and aesthetic inside; they call it a tea lounge and is much like a cafe which has seats for people to hang out. A wonderful new boba place. Gong Cha is the newest boba hotspot in downtown Towson, competing with Denda and Kung Fu Tea. Much like their competition, Gong Cha offers a large variety of boba style beverages in a hip environment, perfect for hot or cold days. Gong Cha's menu is staggeringly huge, with dozens of categories of drinks, each category with their own list of drink variety. Each of these drinks can then be further customized with the amount of ice and sugar in your drink as well as a variety of toppings. While the sheer volume of choices might be staggering, Gong Cha does have a "top favorites" menu which lists the top 10 drinks, which can help narrow down your decision, especially if you're new to boba. Gong Cha only has one non-drink item on the menu, and that's their waffle-like sweetbreads. They come in a variety of flavors and can be served with ice cream or on their own. They pair nicely with one of Gong Cha's hot drinks. While Gong Cha's drinks are loaded with sugar (even if you ask for little to no sugar), I find their drinks lacking in caffeine when compared to Denda or Kung Fu Tea. The flavors are fully present in their drinks, but I don't tend to perk up as much as I'd like to after downing one. As of writing, I wouldn't call Gong Cha a welcome place to sit and have a drink. While the atmosphere is nice, the seating is limited to two people per table and the tables are right next to wear patrons wait for their drinks. So if you're looking for a place to sit down and enjoy your beverage, you might be dissatisfied. I had a good first experience here. Walked in at around 9:45pm on a Sunday and they were fairly busy. As soon as I walked inside the cashier greeted me. Very good customer service at this place. She informed me that they weren't serving waffles at the time (I didn't even know they had that lol) and they ran out of their regular Boba. I was just like okay ‍ i ended up ordering the mango green tea-medium. With regular sugar and ice. My total came up to $4.61. Which was surprising lol for some reason i expected it to be more. The drink was really good!! They also have a variety of toppings but I didn't try any this time. The place was spotless and so were the bathrooms. You have to ask them to unlock the bathroom for you though if you want to use it. Check this place out! read more

This is my go to place for boba in maryland. Coming from hawaii, we have many boba places. Unfortunately there arent many boba places in baltimore. I would make the drive to towson just for the boba. The boba has the right texture and does not taste old and hard. The tea is also great and there are numerous flavours. They also are very efficient and fast and front are nice and friendly. My favorite is mango green tea. The milk teas are on the more stronger side so i would get a little more sugar then i would normally get at other places. The Instagram account manager for Gong Cha Towson has quick responses which is helpful for when you want to know which soft serve flavors are there for the week. A bit on the expensive side for boba but boba prices are going up everywhere! I have tried multiple drinks here but the Dirty Brown Sugar Latte is my favorite. My husband and I tried this establishment today. The menu is very large and includes egg waffles and ice cream. I had a strawberry lemonade and he had the oolong milk tea. Both took a little long to prepare. Overall the taste was good but not outstanding. It is not a place we would go out of our way for a drink. I've been back to this Gong Cha a number of times since my first review (I've filled out two loyalty cards on their app heehee), and I think their pearl quality has definitely improved and become more consistent! I haven't had another bad pearl experience since that first time I had it. Now when I get my drinks with pearls, they are always sweet and a nice texture. I've also become a huh fan of their sparkling teas (sparkling lychee oolong is incredible) and their tropical fruit tea was also really good. Gongcha is usually my favorite spot to get boba around school. Ever since I've been going the customer service is always great and I love the owner. Unfortunately that was ruined for me today, Sept 28, 2022. I had just come the day before and ordered a waffle with ice cream it looked so good. I came back the next day around 8:30 to order the same thing but was given something completely different. I ask the worker there that was wearing glasses, asian, short cut if it was a mistake and he said he was a 50 cent up charge for what we wanted. When ordering on the kiosk, there's not even an option for a 50 cent up charge . Then I asked for more chocolate syrup because it my waffle was made wrong, might as well enjoy it right? Dude gave me so much attitude and was so disrespectful. Not only was I getting rude service but so were my friends and other customers were complaining as well. Needless to say there's a certain individual that needs to be fired or put on probation for being disrespectful to customers. Oh and did I mention when I asked for the syrup he yelled "OMG are you kidding me" loud enough for me to hear after he stormed off. So as you can see from the pictures, these def not the same. This is not the type of service employees should be giving customers, I'm not sure what the employee's name was but i can point him out if you tell me to come back. Even if there was a mix up with the way the waffle is made, he should've been respectful and I would understand. He was really rude, and I was not the only one who thought so. This must be a raise for the whole chain because it was like this high in DC too. They do show your order on a screen and I could have pointed it out, but it feels rude and awkward so I just paid it.
