I am sooooo excited that I finally made it into The Natural Matket. I drive past nearly 4-5 times a week on my commute to work and always say I'm going to check it out. Lo and behold, I made it in on an off day and it's best I did because I needed time to explore all the goodness that's here. I made a list to come back and did the next day with my mom to also show her how amazing it was. Their vitamin/supplement wall is out of this world with everything one could possibly need. I had the Aztec burger last time which was pretty good. For this I would give 3 or 4 stars. Unfortunately this time they were out of the Aztec burger and another BLT sandwich that sounded good. So I opted for the bean burger and the grilled cheese with avocado. The grilled cheese with avocado was decent- I'd give this 3 or 4 stars. The vegan cheese was also pretty good and not gluey- although it didn't melt at all, despite it being a grilled cheese. Oh well, that's the vegan cheese's fault. My main issue was with the black bean burger. It was on a Kaiser roll. It was the driest thing I had ever eaten in my life. It was truly awful. They also take a long time to make the food. The customer service from the general store isn't all that friendly. I'd come back perhaps for some other sandwiches, but in my opinion it's just too overpriced for the quality. read more

I was actually headed to another restaurant for lunch when I spotted this little gem. Tucked in the rear of the health food store is a little restaurant with a nice selection of vegetarian and vegan smoothies, freshly made juices and wraps, sandwiches, salads, and burgers . I went for the black bean burger in a wrap. The actual burger was a little dry but the vegan garlic aoli & mustard combo along with the lettuce , roasted red peppers, and tomatoes complimented this burger well and made up for the slight dryness. I washed it down with the ginger hopper which is a combo of organic carrots , ginger, and apples . This was tasty the only thing that could have made it better is if it was chilled, but since it's freshly made this would probably be impossible. There is very limited sitting if you choose to eat in. There are 2 seats at the counter and two small bistro sized tables in the front of the store. This is a health food store so you can get your supplements, healthy drinks and food while you wait for your meal. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area. As newly found heath/food conscious people, my Fiance and I have had a tough time finding good non-GMO or organic places to grab a quick bite. We took a chance and decided to take a lunch break at The Wild Carrot for the first time and we were not disappointed. I ordered the Black Bean Burger (plain) and the Spinach Pie and my Fiance ordered the Azec Burger (Sweet Potato & Quinoa based). To drink we both had their "Green Lemonade" a mixture of lemons, kale, celery, and other greens. My fiance loved his meal and I loved the pie. I think I would have liked the Black Bean Burger if I was a little more adventurous with my toppings. It was a little dry since I decided to get it plain (I sometimes forget that most vegan/vegetarian places don't have ketchup). The juice was okay, but I would have enjoyed it a little more with a fruit in it to sweeten it up. Overall, the service was excellent and fast (I had an hour for lunch and we were out in 45). We stayed there to eat & one of the employees offered us freshly sliced green apples for free in the middle of our meal which was unexpected and just genuinely kind. There is NO computerized inventory system so all items must be priced by hand. Combine an antiquated approach with human error and a simple inquiry over the phone can become a frustrating time-suck. Allow me to share an example I've entitled "Miso Frustrated:" Employee: Natural Market, how can I help you? Me: Good Day. Do you sell Miso? If so, what types and what are their respective costs? E: Yes, we carry Miso. M: Excellent. What types and how much are they? E: I dunno. Lemme check. - 5 Minute Wait- E: OK, we have White, Red, and Yellow Miso. M: How much is the White Miso? E: Um. I don't know. BRB - 4 Minute Wait - E: Hi. We have an 8oz tub and a 16oz tub. M: And the cost on each is? E: Um......, I don't know. Hold on (sets phone on counter. I can hear them talking to someone in the background) - 5 minute Wait - E: Still there? M: Yes. *small sigh* E: Ok, the 8oz tub of Red Miso is *quotes a price*. M: But I wanted the White Miso. E: Oh. Oops. Hold Please M: *Face Palm* Nevermind, have a nice day. The produce selection is limited and rarely looks fresh. The bulk good are also limited to a handful of staple items (oats, nuts, flaxseeds, etc) but are generally better than the produce. Most of the spices are conventional, not organic, but cover the basics and are still better than what you'd find at a typical big-box grocery store. The sales items are a mixed bag; some great, others overpriced. The Natural Market isn't my go-to but it works in a pinch. read more

Got the Green Juice Smoothie with apple, avocado, celery, spinach, cucumber, kale, cilantro, lemon, coconut water & ice. Not bad, I drank 3/4 so I tried... really hard haha. If anybody could remotely make those ingredients taste good it would be them. I also got a Powerhouse Sandwich which was actually really good! It tasted soo fresh and I didn't miss the lunch meat at all. It had tomato, organic carrots, cucumber, sprouts, organic spinach, guacamole, mustard, muenster cheese. I think the guacamole was a little spicy but it was good! Love this little market definitely the best healthy place in B'more county. Only downside, the smoothie was $9 and some change! read more

I found this place from Yelp review. Location: tucked away in the far left corner of a shopping plaza. The shop did have a small chalk board out front with its name on it, but it didn't particularly stand out. Ordering was the quickest part of the process. The menu is substantial and has a lot of nice options. I ordered two sandwiches, one juice and one smoothie. There were two people working behind the food counter, so I was very surprised at how long the wait was for the order to be completed. I waited about 30 minutes, which I feel is way too long. I would highly recommend calling ahead if you're looking to get takeout. The sandwiches were hearty and yummy. I ordered the Rueben and BBQ tofu wrap. The ingredients were fresh and the drinks were on point as well. I would have given a higher rating because 1) they're conveniently located 2) vegetarian options aren't on every block. Traffic was horrible so I reluctantly went in there to buy a sandwich and salad. I was from out of town and they encouraged me to hang out. The staff behind the counter and at the front desk were exceedingly kind. They talked me into a tofu something sandwich and I got a cashew and kale/chickpea salad to go with it. I am not vegan, don't really think I like tofu, but I decided to just go with the flow. It was slowly prepared, fresh and was excellent. My experience there was perfect. I love this place. Highly recommended!! Customer service is great. They have this meat-free BBQ wrap that I love that's only 8 bucks (While most prices are a little more than at fast food places, it is more affordable than your typical sit-down restaurant). They have fresh smoothies and juices. For example, if you want carrot/ginger/apple juice, they'll juice those ingredients for you on the spot. I know of NO places anywhere in the area that offer fresh juices. In general, this cafe is one of the only places in the area of it's kind. Most of the food is homemade, natural, preservative free, vegetarian, healthy, fresh, low sodium, mostly organic, etc. I can't ask for too much more. On top of that, since the cafe is located in a natural food grocery store ("The Natural"), I usually end up picking up a few groceries while I'm there... pretty convenient if you ask me. It's hard for me to stay away from this place :) And with the fact that they have different featured foods every week on top of their usual foods, I always find myself going back. read more

For the first time, this American meat-lover had a vegan meal (potatoes and tofu with barbecue sauce plus waldorf salad and another type of salad I can't recall) that lacked nothing. (Usually the best I leave with is the feeling, "That would have been great over a big fat steak".) My wife and I have been trying to eat vegan since my heart attack a few years back. Before we found this place eating out has been either Indian (which I am not crazy about) or pretty much yucky (to tell the truth). Because I love their food, what they stand for, and their employees...here is my review and "argument" for the naysayers.... As a former employee when it was Natural Brothers, I can say unless you've worked with fellow employees a while, it takes a few shifts to get your work groove going on behind that tiny tiny counter. Give them a break! They know it's not fun or desirable to be going left when someone thinks you're going to go right. It's frustrating for them too. Just remember that, please. And as someone very concerned with their health and the health of others as well, I think everyone needs to slow down!!! We all are moving too darned fast. This could easily go into a whole myriad of topics, but I'll spare you. Point is, call ahead if you're in a hurry or just slow it down a notch to enjoy your experience here. Strike up a conversation with fellow patrons. Put down your iPhone ;) As for the cockroaches, a one time occurrence of a cockroach DOESN'T mean it's an infestation or that it's dirty. Google it. While, it's been some years since I've been behind that counter I can say it was always spotless. And because of the folks I know of who work there, they are too conscientious and care about themselves and others too much to be any different. It's possible the employee you told discreetly appreciated the discreetness and also dealt with it in a discreet manner, yes? As for the food....I've come to love everything I've tried there from the burgers, juices, smoothies, wraps, and the deliciousness in the case. My favorite item has got to be, hands down, the garlic kale salad...little sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, garlicky dressing, and kale....mmmmmm!!! These are all my opinions only of course! Has a great mix of healthy foods and even a little deli where you can order some sandwiches, pasta salads and sides, etc. The sandwich I had was pretty delish. -1 star because the place is kinda disorganized inside. Visited this place for the first time today, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the juices are fresh. Upon entry of The Natural Market, you may be a little off-put by the sheer number of items for sale and the stacks of merchandise, but don't let that stop you from enjoying all the delicious juices, smoothies and sandwich options. The staff were very friendly, and helpful, offering information regarding the options available for purchase. I visited in the latter part of the 12PM hour, and the lunch crowd was lined up out the door, which is encouraging. However, the line moves fairly quickly. I decided on the Ginger Hopper juice (24oz) and the Aztec Burger, with a side of Rosemary Truffle popcorn for later (retail item). These items came to about $15, which considering what I was getting, and the location of the market, I feel is a fair price. I paid via CC and proceeded to browse the rest of the market while awaiting my order. There are a few tables, in the event one chooses to sit and wait, or dine in (I appreciated this). However, I didn't have to wait more that a few minutes (5-7). The Ginger Hopper was nice and fresh, with lots of ginger to awaken the senses. However, the Aztec Burger is what I enjoyed most. The burger was very flavorful, without taking away from the freshness of the other ingredients. It came with a nice, thick, juicy slice of tomato, a cool section of avocado, and a healthy amount of sprouts for enjoyment. The vegan mayo was a pleasant surprise, as I'm not the biggest fan of traditional mayo. I like the fact that I was able to customize this burger, as I'm not a fan of pickles (The employees were happy to oblige my plea to omit them). Curried tofu w golden raisins was amazing. So creamy, a touch of sweet, with the perfect amount of curry spices. The tofu was like silk. I kept sneaking back to grab more from my fridge all day long. I also had the spinach pie (with the long Greek name I never spell correctly) and it was good. It had a bit more of a sour flavor to it than I'm used to (lemon juice used somewhere?), but the phyllo dough was crispy, and there was an abundance of spinach, and the piece was huge. No complaints.
