Goochie Poochie cared for our Golden Doodle for almost all of his 13 years and 11 months on this earth! He was recently very ill, so I was sure to bring him by for the owner (and other staff members) to kiss him goodbye before he passed. Absolutely the worst experience for our miniature golden doodle. We had a family trip to Walt Disney, and we chose this place to board our dog Bella. We got a call that our dog was being aggressive and that we might need to come pick her up. Mind you, our little golden doodle has never been aggravating to anyone. I don't know how they thought we could just come pick her up when we are 7 hours away in Orlando. SMH!! I went to pick her up, and they told me that she kept jumping over her suite and that they put her in a bigger one and I would be charging me more. Are you kidding me right now!?!? We are new to the area, but after talking to locals, they said that this place is the worst, and has a terrible reputation. I feel terrible for leaving our sweet dog at this place. We love this place. The owner is a top-notch groomer and expert on all things related to dogs. Groomer Mandy is so sweet with dogs that they all love her. The facility is first rate, very high tech and elegant. We've been to parties there, but have not used the resort portion -- but I hear good things about it. Grooming is not cheap, but it's reasonable (especially compared to another local groomer I won't name). The staff is very involved in animal rescue and animal rights, which is a big plus. It's always easy to make an appointment when I call in advance. The best dog groomers I've ever used, out of at least 10 in the past 30 years. Goochie Poochie has all kinds of special treatments for your babies that you won't find elsewhere. Definitely recommend! read more

My wife and I have used this place a couple of times and it's pricey but it seemed worth it... This past time, we boarded 2 well behaved dogs for 7 days (sun-sat). We were quoted $275 because the 7th day is free. We arrived from out of town on Friday in time to pick up the dogs at 430pm. They charged us $290 because there was a $15 dollar late pickup fee.. So.. we took the dogs earlier than scheduled, freeing goochie poochie of another day's responsibility and they charge us $15 dollars... haha this didn't pass the logic test and we'll take our business elsewhere until they make it right. They were so great. Buster must have bruised his paw and they called. To be sure, I took him for an x-ray. No problem. They stayed open and gave me cell phone numbers so I could bring him back before leaving for a week. His daily posts on Stub hub showed he got "nature walks". The vet said he was good but they had to give meds. They had a great system for his meds. Love this place. read more

We have used Goochie Poochie for well over a year and have been pleased. However, a recent grooming required us to take our dog to the vet to the tune of $99! When our dog woke up the next morning after her grooming visit, her eye was completely swollen shut and weeping. We took her to the vet and he told us that the entire cornea was burned from soap. She could barely open her eye! It will take a week of drops in her eye 4x times a day and we need to bring her back to the vet for a follow up to ensure her cornea is healed. I have since found out other dog grooming salons do not use harsh shampoos around the face. Of course we will be changing salons. I did call to complain and the salon did not even offer to refund the grooming fee. Update: Goochie Poochie called my vet. I suppose they wanted to verify my words which is fair. My vet called me back and told me it was a corneal ulcer rather than burn. Also it didn't cover the entire cornea just part of it. So my dog has a corneal ulcer on part of her eye. He also went on to say that this can happen with grooming. I'm trying to be fair with this update. I don't think this is common but that's my opinion. I found another salon that does not use this practice just for the very reason that they don't want to risk soap in the eyes of the dogs. read more

Outstanding! I cannot say enough about the kindness and professionalism of Judy, the manager/operator of this world-class dog resort and spa. I have lived in multiple states and nations with pets, and this is the BEST place I have ever left a loved pet. The modern facilities, excellent services, prices and above all, extremely caring staff sets it apart from all others. We arrived in Destin, FL during June 2016 and found out about a pet policy in our hotel which would have been rough on our dog. So, on no-notice, we asked Judy if she could take our Pomeranian for three days of boarding, which she did, even though she was full and usually you have to make these reservations MONTHS in advance during the summer. We cannot thank Judy enough for her kindness to our pet during the day while we were out swimming on the beach and boating in Destin, FL where a dog would be uncomfortable. He was well cared-for in air-conditioning, went for walks, was fed gourmet chicken and rice, and was entertained for the entire time. We had a much better vacation knowing our pet was loved-on during the time we left him with Judy and her staff. Thank you does not seem adequate for what Judy and her team did for us to make our vacation and our dog's stay in Destin a very memorable one. Very highly recommended! I have boarded with Goochie Poochie since they opened this facility. I have noticed a reduced level of care for our pets over the years. As far as the grooming side of the business I love Yuko and Erin. My babies have always come home "just right" and cute as little bugs. My only issue has been with Scheduling. Even scheduling a month in advance, receiving their email reminders stating when we have an appt, on 3 separate occasions I've arrived and been told I don't have an appt and throw it back on me even when I show them the reminder emails. Granted they go ahead and take the pups and groom them anyway, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what is going on. It usually takes them about an hour to an hour a half to do the pups so I can plan my morning errands during that time. But on 1 occasion when I was specifically requesting an early appt so as not to be late for an afternoon appt elsewhere they had them for 3 1/2 hrs. I had not gotten a text saying they were done, i tried calling and the phone rang over 25 times, so I popped down there and they had been washed but were still wet and ungroomed. I had to pick them up right then and get them home so I could make my afternoon appt on time. During the whole thing the front desk was blaming me. Saying I should have told them. I did; when I reminded her that I called and rescheduled their original grooming appt, I told her I HAD to have them done early and home early so I could make my afternoon doctor's appointment she an oh crap look. It was obvious she remembered then. I have always "gotten along" with the front desk but I've always felt like she was rude to guests in a condescending manner. We were staying in Destin for a week and our dog needed a bath so we called Goochie Poochie after a local groomer recommended them to us. The signage is not prominent which is a shame because the experience is excellent. My dog and I walked in and there was another dog there, we were greeted immediately and the owner/greeter made a positive connection with the dog. The service was efficient and friendly and when I picked up my dog she didn't want to leave. I saw about 5 interactions with pets and owners and all dogs were greeted with a smile. This place is the best! We live in Pensacola and drive all the way to Destin just for Goochie Poochie! Our pup had the best time over Thanksgiving week while we were out of the country with family. I called while we were away and got a report each time on how she was doing and how she had been doing. I am always nervous when boarding my pup but love that they offer slumber party and daycare options with the boarding. I will definitely continue going to Goochie Poochie whenever we need boarding. read more

I'm very skeptical about places that I board my small dog because she is a rescue. When going on vacation to Destin, I chose GP because of their price and availability. I couldn't be more pleased. The facilities are spotless and the staff is really interested in your pet's well being. They give you a report card and the girl who cared for my dog called me 3 days later to let me know how she was since she wasn't there at checkout. I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend this place to anyone , especially if you're vacationing. read more

Just moved here from Vegas, found this gem on yelp. Called before the Memorial Day weekend, got an appointment about 6 days later for an 8 AM. My hubby dropped off our Maltese there. I forgot to give a copy of the vaccine records to my husband, so I sent them by email and they helped us out for that. They did exactly what we asked for, had our pup ready in under an hour, it's the best cut he's ever had, and it was $60 for the cut/wash and some add ons we asked for. Which is cheaper than what we have paid for less. If you have a pup that has long hair needs this is the place to go!! Our dog loved them and we are more than happy, will return for sure. It troubles me to leave Goochie Poochie a 1-star review, but unfortunately they've gone the way of many high volume groomers. I've been with Yuko for two years and enjoyed her great work for that period. However, after her move to a large dog spa the service level has gone from personable and pleasing to rude and uncaring. I approached the staff two times to resolve my issues, but both occasions resulted in the argument being turned toward me and my wife, and claims that we were the ones with the issue not them. I know these reviews can go both ways, angry customers and what have you, but believe me when I say I respect Goochie Poochie and Yuko, but there is no personal touch there anymore. I'll spare further details, but after two years of prompt appointment times having turned into three weeks or more, I was told they have plenty of long time customers and I should go elsewhere. So I will be unfortunately. My best to your business going forward. read more

My neighbor recommended this pet spa to me and taking my dog to this place was the best decision I ever made. From the moment I walked into the front door I was impressed, I was immediately greeted by Judy, the office manager. She was very personable, charismatic, and I truly feel that she had only the best intentions in mind for my dog. The check-in process was quick and easy and I left the spa knowing that my dog was in perfect hands. When I picked up dog, not only did he look gorgeous, I couldn't get him to leave the place!
