I had completed an intake form prior so they already knew about my pains and problem areas. Lisa, my masseuse, quickly clarified my needs and comfort levels. Massage table was heated, which I had never experienced before and it really added to the relaxation. OH and the music was so good! Not your typical zen spa music but so so lovely and calming (I remember some soft jazz, soft nature sounds, etc) Lisa did an amazing job. I have a lot of tension and pain in my body and asked for a massage style that combined relaxation and tension release. She did this beautifully. Swedish (I think?), deep tissue, and pressure points without it being a torture session like many places LOL. She was very skilled in not only finding the tension in my body, but locating points that I don't feel any daily pain, and massaging them in a way that released nagging pain/tension in a different area. Their massage technique is attentive to the areas where I have been experiencing muscle pain. ( neck and lower back ) The bedding was bleach white with no chemical smell. They play a relaxing soundtrack with a light fan breeze, with the scent of fresh epsom salt. Neutral and clean. The massage lotion is unscented without any additional elements that could potentially affect my skin. There was little to no conversation during the massage, but they consistently checked in asking if they were adding too much pressure to the areas that were tense. As a NYEr that has been looking for a drop-in massage spot, this place completely surprised me and I will be going back and recommending to friends and family.

I asked if it was possible to make a same day appointment for an aromatherapy massage and she booked me for the next hour. I was so excited. I entered the cozy and quaint parlor and there was another customer in there, who was on his way out. She then greeted me and asked if I was ready. I said of course. The massage experience was definitely what I needed. I was definitely tense in certain areas (which she paid close attention to). She used one of her body butters and let me tell you...I noticed a huge skin difference. I had some scars from being in the hospital (bandaid and electrode scars from the EKG leads) and they literally look lighter! I observed this when I got home. I was trying certain products from Duane Reade and Walgreens and nothing worked except for the body butter she used during the massage. Wow. I was checking out the website for the skin products and the ingredients are super natural. You can pronounce all the words; no synthetic mumbo-jumbo. I am making plans to purchase a few skin care items this week. The aromatherapy massage was priced in a standard way and depending on my budget, I might incorporate it into my pampering routine now and then. But as far as the products go, I am definitely becoming a long time customer.

In the buying process, the Face Fix does not have a description of what it includes/excludes. I only discovered that it included 2 services/month when I tried to book a third service in the same month. Sure - ok maybe just a website issue... so I emailed them and have not heard back for a week+. But then, on top of that... 2. I canceled before my billing date (a day or two before), and for some reason, it's locking me into this membership until THE END OF SEPTEMBER - TWO months from now. I will obviously be disputing this with my credit card company, but it's pretty sus to me that it takes a month to "process by cancellation request." I've checked my confirmation email and there is nothing about a membership cancellation notice. There is also a "processing fee" of $15 to get your membership set up, which I accepted when I bought the membership. Anyways, my advice is to use the services at Uni Wax, but be very careful about what you're signing up for because they are employing some pretty sketchy practices.
