Walked in to attempt to make an appointment and was immediately turned off. The "receptionist" at the front and I discussed what I was interested in and she just pointed me to the back and told me to talk to people and interrupt them in the middle of them tattooing other people. That's uncomfortable and weird and a violation of my privacy and that clients. She didn't even walk me back or tell them who I was she just pointed and had a snarky remark at everything I said. I even offered to call later or come back to discuss an appointment and her reply, ughh that's never gonna happen. And the guy I did get to interrupt seemed uninterested anyway. Very uncomfortable. I'm not going to assume it's anything racial as this shop isn't diverse and I'm a black woman. First of all anybody who has anything negative to say about GCF (Good clean fun) is a fu**ing dumb @ss! If you want beautiful custom work done then this is the place to come to. This is the oldest tattoo shop in Gwinnett county and has earned a great reputation. My favorite artist is Dave. Dave also is the owner. He does amazing custom work. I've been coming to GCF since it was off hwy 29 in lilburn. The shop they moved to in Snellville is awesome. Dave and Anibal both have inked me here, and I am extremely happy with their work. Dave's is the largest and most expensive. I did have a little sticker shock, but I truly believe you get what you pay for. This is art, and their valuable time. The colors are amazing. Anibal's work is a simple walk-in tattoo that is my favorite, for what it is: my deceased mom's name in her handwriting, and a daffodil, on my wrist. Not sure how they set their prices but my son's 2 inch, 2 block letters that took 18 minutes and no artistic interpretation that was printed at the front counter by the receptionist using MS Word cost $90! Between myself and my boyfriend we have 12 tattoos (full sleeve, to small calligraphic writing), done by various ACTUAL Atlanta artists that did not cost that "rate"! Beware. Ask the price first. I walked in with a concept for a tattoo... Even had a few sketches in hand. I had a good idea but needed someone with an artistIc eye to really bring it to life. I spoke with someone and they said they would take it on. Happy, I tried to explain the concept. I was told that it was irrelevant. Warning sign #1. I was asked to put down a $20 deposit as "good faith" while the artist worked on the idea. Apparently, they get "flakes" who waste their time. Despite being warning sign #2, I put the money down since I wasn't wasting anyone's time... Most importantly, my own. But here's the thing: good faith should be a two-way street.They never got to me. Serious about the tattoo and the progress of the sketch, I went back a week later.... Looking for the artist. I was told that he was out that day. I left another iteration of sketches. The owner took them and said that his artist would get back to me. They never did. Warning sign # 3 and the proverbial "last straw." I'm not sweating the $20 dollars. I consider it money well-spent as I dodged a bullet that would have ended up with me getting work done by someone who probably lacked the skills that I was looking for. This is coupled with the serious doubt that his lack of integrity could have been balanced with any true artistic skill. To the person who gets tattoos with their mom: I am happy that this place works for you. But despite the advice you gave, this place didn't provide the great experience that you described. Those two at the bottom are ridiculous... I only have a couple tattoos, one of which came from Good Clean Fun, and my wife has two, one of which came from Good Clean Fun. Both of them were done by Dave, and he did 'heckle' me about my original tattoo.. but it's cool, I probably deserve it.... My wife's first tatto from him was on her foot, it's a Sailor Jerry Sixtopus, and the design of it caused one of the legs to go down the side of her foot, which she liked, and Dave flat out told her 'it'll look good there for maybe a year, and then bleed out and look like sh....', which we GREATLY APPRECIATED. He then gave his recommendation on where to have that last leg go for longevity of the tattoo... and it's been great ever since she got it... going on three years now... And mine looks great too! If you think a little 'arrogance, heckling or judgement' is rude from the guy that's about to put the tattoo on you... then what do you think you're going to receive from your 'friends' that are going to have the same thought... like Eowyn said "If you can't defend your tattoo, frankly you shouldn't be getting it." Dave's place is awesome, all his equipment was sterile and came out of new bags, he's got tons of art to choose from, plus pretty much put together whatever you want... My first tattoo was 22 years ago. Dave Attonito was working at a shop somewhere in Gwinnett where I lived at the time. Since then, I have followed Dave where ever he went. (Even though I live an hour away now) He ended up opening his own shop in Lawrenceville for a while, and now the shop resides in Snellville. I have been tattooed by Dave numerous times. From traditional style, Japanese style, color, black and gray, animated, lettering, etc...The man can do it all. Every spring/summer (short sleeve or no sleeve season) people I don't even know always walk up to me and compliment my tattoos and ask where and who did the work. I got so tired of explaining where, when, and who, that now I just carry a handful of Good Clean Fun business cards in my purse and hand it to them. (no lie, ask my mother) They say "you get what you pay for" and tattoos are permanent. Just because you can draw, doesn't mean that you're an artist much less a tattoo artist. I have been to other shops. Shops closer to my house. I have looked at other portfolios. I've seen good work, but not as good as Daves. My gut has never EVER trusted anyone else to tattoo me. And you should always go with your gut. So, if you want good work, honest answers, in a clean shop, make the drive to Good Clean Fun and ask for Dave. You won't regret it...EVER read more

He came up with a few ideas to make the design better than the original (asking my permission first) and he took his time, even though the shop was about to close. This was my experience there, 3 days ago. Not a pleasant one Me being a newbie to getting tats(1st one), I came in with a notebook with ideas and one black&white copy paper google image of a 6 inch 9 letter word in arabic. Nick was behind the counter. I told him I was a newbie and can he assist me. He looked at his watch an told me yeah. But when i showed him my notebook with ideas. He said People usually come in here with an image so he disregarded all the ideas i had drew up, and just looked at the paper with the image. An said i can do this one. I said OK, so I gave him the $90 for a 5inch 9 letter word. but I asked again abt the other handdrawn stuff and he said leave 50 deposit and after this Tattoo, we can seat down a look at idea. So he beings by stenciling the image. I ask can he curve it similar to rainbow(concave/convex). He said no if the image is straight, he has to do it straight. So im asking myself does he have any editing software on his computer. Maybe hes not an Artist. Moving on in the story, he does the tat. Its decent. Never talked to me while doing. Never setting a newbies expectation of pain, or the process. It must have only taken 20mins. Afterwards i says thank you and do we look at my art in my notebook now so we can design something an leave you the deposit. He says he has a 1 o"clock appt. coming up so just take a card an call back another time. NOT COOL, After telling me we'll look at it after tats. I felt rushed, like he was carving through my chest quick enough to make his other appt.. i felt he was insensitive to a newbie. and i felt dismissed. I know he doest remember my name, bc he never asked. Needless to say i wont be going back..... I have 6 other tats in my book that i'm ready to do. Just not with them.
