Ordered carry out last night. Picked up order and got back to Hotel and no utensils and no napkins, so I had to go to hotel lobby and ask them to dig out some utensils. I ordered the kung pao chicken and egg roll with fried rice. Egg rolls were soggy and cold. Vegetables in dish were raw and it was very bland to taste. Would not recommend them to you. read more

Ordered for pickup last night. Was told by my son it was very good food. For the most part it was, but 2 items out of 8 items we ordered dragged it down a lot and prompted this review. This included the son that told us it was very good, and agreed afterwards, these two items were not enjoyable. If we had ordered without these 2 items, I would have given it a 5, and if we had ordered just the 2 items, it would have been a 0. The 2 items were chicken fried rice and the egg rolls. 4 of us eating. 3 of us had the chicken fried rice, 3 of us ate maybe a quarter, to half of our serving of the chicken fried rice, kept thinking it wasn't right and looking at each other, and 3 of us said it tasted nothing like chicken and wasn't sure what it tasted like, but it was enough to push the dish aside and dumped out afterwards. Chicken not only didn't taste like chicken, but have never seen chicken in 1/2" x 2" x 1/8" thick strips, all exactly the same, all with zero chicken flavour, all with a rubbery texture. My wife thought it might have been tofu. Maybe we got the wrong dish. Second item was egg rolls. The stuffing was balled up and it was impossible to eat without a knife, as soon as you bit in all the stuffing would not break apart, everything came out on the first bite and was tough to chew. Almost would compare it to a cheap rubbery steak with fat that eventually you have to spit out, and it also had an odd taste. One that I can't point my finger at, maybe like dirt. There was nothing pleasant about the egg roll flavour, even plum sauce couldn't cover it up. This time, 4 of us had it. I was the only one who finished mine, and afterwards was sorry I did. The other 3 spit it out on the first bite. It was a taste I couldn't get out of my mouth, and definitely ruined the rest of the good flavours I had had from the dishes that were very good. Was going to e-mail them and let them know, instead of reviewing online, but no e-mail that I could find. read more

Never thought I would find decent chinese food in Winnipeg. Pleasantly surprised! Price point isn't that great but the friendly customer service makes up for that. read more

We've been ordering from a different Chinese restaurant until recently. We were exclusive with that one because we thought it was great. However, it was closed one night when we decided to order so we looked for somewhere else in out area. We settled for Good Earth, not expecting much...but we were blown away by fantastic it was. It even smelled amazing before we opened the bag. We ordered the beef in black bean sauce, the Cantonese style chicken chow mein, and the sesame chicken. All three dishes were amazing. We also added a few egg rolls simply to avoid the delivery charge. Those tasted similar to frozen ones you would buy at a grocery store, but as those are not really the main event, it was forgivable. The rest of the dishes were very fresh and flavourful. Another bonus is that I react very badly to MSG. It is always a concern when I order from Chinese restaurants. Sometimes even when I request no MSG, I still end up sick and know they ignored the request. Here, I forgot to even ask if they used MSG, let alone asking them not to. It was a very happy surprise to discover they did not use it. So overall, clean, fresh, delicious, and MSG free. read more

Service was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere is comfortable and clean. Large portions. The spring roll was good. However we have to give the Lemon Chicken a failing grade. It was tasty but pretty tough. The Good Earth Chow Main was good. All and all this place is ok but cant recommend this place as a must try. read more

If you want a great meal at an amazing price, check this place out! Their lunch buffet is just amazing and so tasty for the super low price of $6.99. This place is always packed, so come early to get a spot because it is a fairly small place. Even though it is a buffet at lunch, the staff are not hiding and are more than happy to help serve you something other than water. Ordering out from this place is just as swell. Our last order was a terrible experience. We ordered seven dishes (a close to $80 bill), and every single dish had hair in it. Seriously, it was BAD. I'm not sure if they had a big dog in the kitchen that evening, or if every single person working wasn't wearing a hair net, or if they had just decided to add hair to their dishes for kicks. This wasn't just a hair here and there, there was so much that there must have been a cause. Everyone eating the meal experienced the same thing with each dish. It was pretty disgusting. We contacted customer service and spoke with the manager/owner. He didn't seem like the type that strives for his customers satisfaction. In fact, he didn't really care much at all. He said the most he would do is give credit on three dishes. Three of the seven dishes! So, after ten years of being a dedicated customer, I've decided I will never give them my business again. The food is good, yeah. But there are TONS of other chinese foods restaurants. I draw the line when a business doesn't care about their customers. It's a shame because one of the things I do in my line of work is recommend restaurants in the city to clients. Ouch. read more

Being new in the neighbourhood, we have been asking our neighbours for the best places to eat nearby and this one didn't disappoint! We ordered delivery and were told an hour wait and got it in about 30 minutes. And the amount of food! It was filling and made for a couple of late nite snacks as well. We tried several dishes to appease the whole family and still only spent about $80. My only complaint would be that the chicken fried rice was a bit dry. Otherwise, great food, ample portions and reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend! read more

In our quest to find great Chinese food in Winnipeg again we ordered from Good Earth last night as it is in our new neighborhood. We had heard Good Things about Good Earth (lol) and were looking forward to the experience. The phone service was excellent, delivery prompt, faster than they had quoted which is always a pleasant surpise, but a couple of the dishes fell a little short. The two that were outstanding were the Chicken Soo Guy and Sub Gum Chow Mein with crispy noodles. Both were super fresh tasting with beautiful white chicken meat, crispy veggies that weren't soggy and laden with sauce and had tremendous flavour. We were disappointed in the two other dishes we ordered however. The Shanghai noodles were far too oniony tasting, which took away from that great thick noodle experience and the ginger beef just wasn't flavourful enough and could have used double the amountof ginger. For a first go around, it was a decent experience and better than some other Chinese take out we've had since landing back in The Peg. We will indeed order from them again, trying different dishes, hoping for the stellar results of the first two we enjoyed so very much. The prices were reasonable as well, with four dishes, two spring rolls, rice and delivery comng in at $45. We may even decide to make it an in house experience next time as I do feel you get a better idea of food quality when you eat in rather than getting delivery. You know how it so though, sometimes the in home experience is just what one needs, and that was us last night after a full day of sorting through all our earthly belongings that were delivered last week and dumped on our door step :) So, we will give Good Earth another Good Shot and look forward to finding more dishes becoming favorites. Good Earth is our go to place for Chinese food. Having being loyal customers for many years, we must have picked an off night. Upon returning home with our order I found that an error was made and I called them back. They apologized and agreed to a credit on our next order. Maybe they have some new staff or something, but our food just wasn't as tasty as usual, the breaded shrimp were as usual delicious. Our beef fried rice, had an off taste as noted by both my husband and I. We will go back, as I said before, maybe just an off night. read more

I don't know how they ruined Chinese but it was tasteless and tough . The fillings of the egg rolls were solid and came out in one ugly chunk The egg foo young was the same way , tough, stringy and tasteless. The shrimp in black bean sauce smelled bad and tasted foul. The deluxe fried rice was dry and tasteless and the lemon chicken and dried pork were passable but barely. No one had second helpings and the normally delicious leftovers went in the garbage. read more

Love this little quant restaurant. Not much on décor but sure makes up for it in the quality and quantity of food you get. Sister took me here for my birthday tonight and as usually it was simply awesome! They are open to allowing you to substitute a menu item (in the combos) for another selection. We love their combo #7 (shrimp (2), dry breaded spareribs, rice and chop suey (which we ask for instead of the Chinese Greens)). We also order the Cantonese Egg Foo Young, loaded with shimp. Whenever someone asks me out for Chinese food, its a no brainer I want to come here. What you can't eat they will package up for you to take home. Their prices are quite reasonable and the staff including the owner are very friendly and always coming by to check on how things are going. The food is prepared fresh and piping hot to your table.
