The service here is great but I just wish the waiter/owner was a bit more attentive to the table's needs like refilling water in glasses or checking in etc. I know that this place has Vietnamese influence as well as Chinese but I feel like it has a stronger Chinese presence, which is completely fine, It's just my observation. I ordered the steamed shrimp and steamed rice with vegetables dish and it was yummy...The food was kind of oily but tasty nevertheless. My friend had the fried shrimp with vegetables in an onion sauce with rice on the side. He liked it. I also tried there banana boba juice drink and it's really affordable and well priced. Around 6$ for a juice slush with tapioca balls. Some of the flavors are actually made with real fruits. The banana flavor was not made of real bananas but it was still good and sweet. One more thing I'd like to add is that on the day my friend and I ate there a homeless person walked in and didn't have a lot of money and the owners were very polite to her. I think it's nice that they were willing to take 7 or 8 dollars to feed her some egg rolls and rice. read more

The place wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon, and the only reason I chose this place is cause Viva across the street was closed. Oh well, good thing it's Pho alley down here. Either way, I had my go-to for most Pho places I eat at, which is the beef stew noodle soup. They do their noodle soup really well. The broth is flavourful but not overly oily, and the beef stew is chewy but not hard. Definitely one of my favourites I've had so far in this city (and I've had a lot already). Service was also very good; you get a really nice family treatment as well. I'd certainly recommend this place to others. read more

Been eating here for years...it feels like it's under the radar a little bit as everyone seems to know more about Viva (on the same street). But they've been around for a long time and their food is legit - great flavour, generous portions and decent prices. At first glance, their prices seem higher than other places but they offer larger portions so it all works out. I've always stuck with the Vietnamese dishes here but there are the tons of other stir fried dishes that I have never tried. Their vermicelli (bun) bowls are great all around $9-$12. I like #33 which has egg rolls, grilled pork and grilled ground pork with the veggies and vermicelli ($9). I always get #11 which is the pho tai - medium rare beef slices in the pho ($8) - big bowl filled with lots of thin vermicelli that have that perfect consistency and lots of beef. Hands down the most generous beef portions in the city. And of course the pho comes with the plate of veggies - bean sprouts, lime and thai basil but no chilies. The soup is delicious though it is a more oily that I prefer but great balance of flavours. I love ice coffee ($4.50) but I don't love their version as much. A little too much condensed milk which made it really sweet and the coffee isn't as flavourful. Food service is extremely fast and lunch isn't packed so you can eat your meal fairly quickly. They are probably one of the hardest working Vietnamese restaurants out there as they are open DAILY. Had a late lunch here and it surpassed our expectations. We're new to the province so we are still adjusting to different parts of town, it can be hard to know where to eat! The staff here was friendly and the vermicelli was so good. I got the charbroiled pork and my boyfriend had the charbroiled beef. It was very "hands-on" but we enjoyed it, the waiter even gave us a short tutorial on how to roll the rice paper. Desert was egg rolls with banana inside. AMAZING. I had two and I'm not ashamed. I eat their tofu satay soup numerous times a week for lunch. Although very spicy its very flavourful and always steaming hot. It comes out in like 3 minutes, the tofu pieces are wonderfully golden and crispy. I get mixed veggies added for an extra $3, very worth it. My dad gets the deluxe wonton soup and claims they have the best wontons in the city. The vermacelli bowls are also delicious, i find the vermacelli more al dente then other restaurants where it sometimes sticks together like a ball. Service is consitent, fast and capable. read more

My favourite Vietnamese restaurant (Ha long Bay) was closed for holidays, so I poked around online and found this one. I was interested in picking up one thing: salad (summer) rolls. I saw the menu posted here and even though it was more expensive ($8) than what I was used to ($6.50), based on the reviews, I decided to place an order. Well, first of all, when I picked up my order, I almost fell over. The price had gone up to $11.00!! READERS NOTE: MENU PRICES ARE OUT OF DATE!! Now it is almost double what I normally pay. I expressed my shock and dismay, so they reduced the price to $10. Then he explained how they only use quality shrimp and chicken: Not like other places that may get their stuff from "China". Secondly, when I opened the package, they were not even wrapped, so they had started to dry out and we're stuck together. It was difficult to eat them because the rice paper wrap fell apart in the middle. Plus, the peanut sauce was not as good as what I was used to. It was thick with green onions in it. I ended up using superstore's brand that I had in the fridge. All in all, it was a bad experience. Even though I only ordered the one item, I will think hard about returning. Incidentally, I made the mistake of ordering 3 orders because that's what I usually do, so I can have leftovers. Big mistake if you are trying a new restaurant! read more
