Had my first buffet experience here and it wasn't disappointing. The food was really good but the buffet was small but understand that the smallness of it isn't a bad thing. Maggot in my food..... I ordered vegetable chicken and white rice with a side of egg drop soup to go. Everything was hot and seemed fresh when I got home. I ate half my soup then went to my chicken. It was incredibly salty but I kept eating. As I lifted my spoon-I saw a maggot on my celery. I turned on all my lights, used a flashlight and even had my husband very that it was indeed a maggot. I felt sick to my stomach and literally got sick. I will never go here again and I hate writing bad reviews but I can't think of a reason that justifies a maggot (or maggots) in your food. read more

A night out at our favorite local Chinese restaurant. Always have good service and the food is so good. The Generals chicken is the best around. The chicken chunks are soft little pillows of wonderfulness! Husband tried something new and had the Hunan Beef. The beef was melt in your mouth tender and the sauce was very good. I ordered Good Fortune from my hotel when I was staying in Derby for business and didn't feel like leaving the hotel and I'm glad I did! I ordered sesame chicken and fried rice with 2 egg rolls. (They actually gave me an extra! :) ) Everything about the meal was delicious. I'm a huge broccoli lover so I was excited to open my dinner and see broccoli in with my sesame chicken! MMM! My daughter placed an order for carryout as employee interrupted and talked over her. When we picked up the order it was incomplete so had to wait another 40 minutes for them to prepare the rest. Finally received our order and half the food was cold as it had apparently been sitting out on the counter while they were preparing the missing food. When we complained, not only did the person identifying himself as the manager offer no apology, he actually giggled and snickered like it was all a joke to him. I want to start off by saying, I am not usually an angry person. I don't ever complain about things when I don't feel they are up to par, because I always figure, "Hey, maybe they are going through something or just having a bad day" etc. so just know that when I take the time to sit down and right out a review like this, it had to be something significant. I called in to place an order around 8pm and I started placing my order, and then the man I was speaking with interrupted and said, "Wait wait wait wait wait, I"lol be right back." I said okay, and a couple minutes later he got back on the phone and told me to continue, and then a few seconds later he interrupts again with no warning and starts talking to someone else for at least a minute or two. When he finally directs his attention back to me, I finish telling him my order. Just to make sure he heard all of it because he didn't seem to be paying any attention to me, I repeated the entire order back and he said "ok" and said it would be 20 minutes and then he hung up. At this point, I'm slightly peeved, but I shake it off and leave right away (because it's 15-20 minutes away from my house). When I get there I greet the man there and start telling him some of the things I ordered to specify which one was mine, (there were 5 items total) and he says that he only has one item on the order, sweet and sour pork. I told him that I had a few more items on it, and listed them out AGAIN, and he just stares at me while I'm telling him, and then when I finished, he grabbed a notepad and told me to repeat it. (Again I would like to point out that I just told this man that they missed 80% of my order and he doesn't apologize, smile, or anything, just TELLS me to repeat it, not asks). So I repeat it, and he tells me it will be another 40 minutes to make the rest of my order. Now remember that I live about 15 minutes away from this place at least, and I'm really mad by now, ESPECIALLY because he was not apologetic at all, he had zero empathy about the situation. But I don't say anything and then I go home, and as I'm telling my fiancé about everything he tells me that he thinks I should complain to the manager. We aren't the type of people that complain about things just to get stuff free, and I'd like to point out that I had already paid $27 for 2 people to eat there. I decided that I was going to tell the manager about the situation, just so it can be brought to his attention and hopefully it won't happen to anyone else in the future. I go back and when I get there, a man and a woman were standing on the other side of the restaurant and they just point to the table without saying a single word to me. I ask them to come over to the door because I didn't want to shout (because of the coronavirus they had a table inside the door blocking it off so no one would try to dine in) and I calmly asked who the manager was, I asked if it was him and he said, "yes", and then I started to tell him what had happened, and they both look at each other and start LAUGHING, like not even just a little bit, but laughing HARD, like bent over a little holding their stomach kind of laughing, and at that point I am yelling a bit because I was so offended and angry. After I get done telling them what happened, I just stared at them for a second in disbelief as they just laughed. And then as he was still laughing, he said, "hahahahaha sorry it was busy hahahahaha" not caring at all. There weren't any other orders on the table either time I was there, and not a car in sight in the parking lot. I would also like to point out that he was on the phone through all of this and never bothered to hang up or anything. Also no one ever offered an apology or anything or even a kind word on the subject. I have never felt so disrespected and have never seen such unprofessional behavior in my life, from a manager nonetheless! This all happened within a span of a couple minutes, and I got flustered and left. When I got home my food was ice cold and I felt compelled to tell the story so other people know just how the people at that place are. I am certainly never going to eat there again, and I want other people to know what they could be getting themselves into and hopefully make the decision to not eat there either. read more

Really good stuff. I like their version of lemon chicken: Chicken that's actually juicy, not dry with a skin batter that's actually crispy and not soggy served with a generous cup of lemon dipping sauce. A nice change from the syrupy muck that you usually find at buffets. Their rangoons, and eggrolls are a win - not the stale crust with very little 'cream cheese' on the inside and the leftovers from the hot serving trays stuffed in greasy shells respectively. For the ultimate experience from this place, I suggest ordering for carryout or delivery. Delivery charges are so reasonable. Ordering is easy and straightforward, the guy knows exactly what you mean and doesn't say 'wha? can you repeat that please' Highly recommend. There are not too many good Chinese food options in Derby. Dillon's being the most mediocre of the bunch. You do pay a little more than the grocery store, but it's so totally worth it. read more

Good fortune doesnt look like much but it us very good. They are the literal definition of hole-in-the-wall buisness which is cool. The service was amazing right as I walked in the door I got seated and they took my drink order and had it out to me real fast. The seating was great didnt have any issues, the glass above the food was foggy but that was probably cause the glass was old. Great little whole in the wall with delicious food. Their buffet for $5 and some change is great value. It is a little small but they make up for it with super yummer food. Their dumplings are wonderful! I only gave it 3 stars though because it is a little dirty and run down. I used to forgive this because the food is so good. Then I went to the bathroom and it was disgusting. I then started noticing all the other things in the restaurant which were dirty and in disrepair. I will still go there because my husband loves it but honestly is a little gross. They get really busy at lunch time and it's hard to get refills on drinks. That I can overlook.
