As a new doggy owner I was super anxious about finding a good veterinarian clinic around town. They have exceeded my expectation and then some. Hands down the best vet around! They treat your pet like their own and are all so sweet and friendly in the office! We left my Golden Retriever puppy with them for a week during our vacation and she got so much love while we were gone. The staff was so attentive to her even though momma (me) was so sad to leave her I knew she was in good hands! She gets so excited to come to Good Hands every time we come. We used Good hands for 15 years. It was a good and caring practice. Unfortunately after the death of founder Monica Kucher it was sold to a corporate practice. The personal care disappeared and it became more focused on the corporation than the patients. We have have had to go elsewhere for the care of our pets. read more

We won't be going back because of their COVID policy. They still require masks (which is ridiculous), but the reason we are switching practices after 7 years is because they will only allow 1 owner to go in the exam rooms with the animals. We brought 2 dogs for a check-up, and they would only let 1 person come back. This is an outdated practice. The hospitals allow more visitors than a vet practice?!?! Change your policy or continue to lose patients. The staff was kind, but couldn't tell me when their COVID policy would be updated. We won't be back. read more

I would not recommend this vet to anyone that actually loves and cares for their pets. An improper diagnosis and lack of care led us to enabling cancer to spread in our dog and ultimately having to have him put down by another vet that actually took the time to properly diagnose our sweet baby. Good Hands Vet is only good for referring you out to more expensive doctors and hospitals. Their vets, particularly, Lathrup, simply take best guesses. Definitely not worth the money you pay and is dangerous for the pets. read more

I've been a customer at Good Hands since 2003. I trust my animals with all of the doctors here. Not only are they good at what they do, but they take the time to explain conditions, treatments options and answer all your questions. Even if you think of another question after you leave, you can call Good Hands and someone will be able to clarify or leave a message for your vet--to which you'll always get a reply. They have a lot of resources at this facility and can do most procedures on site. When it is decision making time on what procedures to do, I get honest, comprehensive information from them and don't feel pressured or price gouged. You get the sense that they love what they do, really care about what's best for your pet, and want to have a good relationship with you. Also importantly, the support staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Everyone is on the same page here and the quality of service is consistently excellent. read more

I am originally from the Athens area and my family still resides there. Anytime we are "back in town" we take our 2 pups for their shots and check-ups. The receptionists are always very personable, the techs are knowledgeable, and the advisement of the doctors are always spot on. Long, but I feel like important. We have used this vet for years, and slowly transferred our blended home animals over there because if it's convenient location. Although it has seemed in the past couple years that they were operating in a more corporate fashion, they took good care of our animals and were friendly, so we let it slide. However, after a recent experience we will be finding a new vet for all of out animals. Our elderly mixed lab has had an ongoing skin infection and has tried a couple different antibiotics. A month ago, he came in, got a full check-up and lab work (which they were late in getting the results back, and followed up with an e-mail instead of a phone call like we were told would happen). Lab work was ok, and his skin cleared up. A couple days ago, I noticed the same infection looked like it was coming back - since we were going out of town this week, I wanted to see if we could get some more of the same antibiotic so it didn't worsen while we were gone. When I called, they said that our dog would have to come in again because it had been more than a week since he had been in to have his skin checked. I told them that we were going out of town and asked if they had any availability tomorrow - and was offered an appointment the next week. I again explained that we would be out of town and asked why we couldn't just try another round of the same antibiotic and follow-up next week after we got back in town if they have no availability tomorrow. I was then told that that would be "unsafe" and that the vets "don't feel comfortable" prescribing without seeing the animals first. I never talked to a vet. I told her that bottom line, demanding a visit when there isn't one available for more than a week feels greedy - and not in the best interest of my pet (remember he was there a MONTH ago). The final straw was this comment "the vets stand up for themselves more than Monica did." I will not be going back. read more

My wife Jude and I have been loyal customers of Dr. Monica Kucher since the day she opened Good Hands Veterinary Hospital. As we are supporters of several canine rescue groups, we tend to have an assortment of dogs with health and aging issues, all of which have been tended to and cared for by all of the Good Hands staff members when the need arises. Our 18-yr. old, one-eyed, deaf and nearly blind pug, Miss B. has regular visits at Good Hands to receive her Laser Massage Therapy. I never planned on using Yelp to write reviews, really only to read them (I know, how selfish of me)... but when I saw that Good Hands did not have any, I just couldn't help myself. This place is fantastic! My dog wasn't even a patient of theirs, but when he needed to be boarded overnight they did not hesitate to take him in. The price was very reasonable ($20 for 24 hours) and they were flexible with the pick-up time. They even gave him a vaccine that he was due for and did not make a fuss about him not having a full examination there. They listed him in their system and sent me a reminder when it was time for his booster! Now thats what I call service! The women at the front desk are always kind and curteous and will do whatever they can to help out... and they love animals! If you email them, they respond right away and will even call you if you have more than just a simple question. All of their information is listed on their website, including a tour of the facilities. They have a small pet store and groomer on site. My dog now lives with my parents up in Maryland- that was always the plan- but I have since gotten a cat of my own and will definitely be taking him there! read more

Have been taking my 2 dogs for grooming for a few months now. Today when they came home there was blood everywhere. On our white beds, huge drops on carpeting. On further inspection Avery had a huge cut under his tail. I understand things happen but TELL ME. I called explained and was asked if I wanted to speak to the manager. I said no, you tell him. Apparently that did not happen, no call. If you can't be honest about a mistake then I have no use for you. Avery is now wearing a diaper. If the bleeding doesn't stop we'll have to see a vet tomorrow. Not that one. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the doctors and staff at Good Hands. It is the perfect name for them. We brought our dog there for a second opinion nearly two years ago, and never returned to our old vet. The vets at Good Hands understand that your pet isn't just an animal, they are a part of the family. Dr. Kutcher and Dr. Cox have been our main doctors there. They take time to talk with you and answer questions, and are very knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. Dr. Cox performed surgery to remove cancer in our dog, and helped to give her an additional year and a half with our family. Words cannot express my gratitude for that. She is a genuinely caring doctor and never makes you feel rushed. I have been extremely impressed with their staff as well. I wish there were more starts to give. read more

Good vets and friendly staffs but worst grooming experience. Grooming staff were really rude. Their previous sweet groomer Julie left, which I learnt only after they messed up my little ones hair. I will still use the vet service but never their grooming service again. read more
