Pulling into this park, you could easily mistake it for an office building. There's a little strip…read moreof grass to the left and what appears to be a commercial office building to the right. But once you get beyond that it opens up into a very enjoyable park. There are baseball fields, a swimming pool with an amazing looking slide, and plenty of recreation area. I'm guessing that there is a school (or two) that used them, we just don't ever happen to be here at the same time. Court conditions are really nice and probably the best in the area. Courts are also kept really clean, not sure if it's the people that are using them that make sure to clean up after themselves or if they have a crew that does upkeep. But really nice to come here and not have to pick up trash after others. There are also some baseball fields and some outdoor batting cages (intended for fast pitch). Plenty of parking and very rarely more than a few people here at any time (maybe on weekend if there is a baseball tournament?).

It's been there for…read moreat least a couple of decades since my step daughter played soccer there when she was in high school. We visited the All Kids Park which is onsite at the Sportsplex last Sunday which was really nice, too. Back to Sportsplex. I did not enter the building itself; however from the exterior it was really modern looking and nice! I think it houses the swimming pool(s) which I am told are really nice, too! I explored the numerous batting cages trying to figure out how they worked because they aren't the typical ones where you put $ in and a machine delivers the pitch to you - they were *not* automated. Hmmmm. How the heck do they work? They were in nice shape, though. Also, their tennis courts were in excellent shape! Lighted, wind screens/covered changeover areas and nets, all in great shape, with excellent signage and no pits/ruts on the hard surfaced courts. They have 2 baseball fields; 3 baseball/softball fields, 3 soccer fields; an 18 hold disc golf course (which I did not see), I did see a plain ole wide open field where parents and children were just throwing balls and playing. Ball fields and soccer fields are available for rent by the public and for tournaments. Their website indicates they have 2 sub facilities: an Athens Greenway Trail and Athens Sportsplex Track; which I didn't see. Per the website the Athens Sportsplex Track is a 1.2 mile track that connects the Sportsplex to Lowes on Hwy. 72 in Athens, it is "mostly shaded" and appears to have a really cool looking covered bridge, too.

I said , I gave you a $20 bill she said no... You gave me a $10 I said I gave you a crisp $20 bill just out of the ATM. She overlooked my shoulder and yelled NEXT and dismissed me. I never did get my changed. Was made to feel like a thief , and WAY overpaid for snacks and BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Everyone around the complex was talking about her hateful demeanor. So for that reason only..... I give this a medioker 3 stars. Customer service will , make your business , or break your business ..

You can't go wrong with their concession stand with hot dogs, sodas, hamburgers, nachos, and lots of candy. Only complaint I have is there is no pets allowed, so I can't take my dog there for a walk. (and, yes, I don't mean walking the dogs in the ball fields, cuz no one likes poop on the ball field)

We had a really good time watching this baseball game; even though I refuse to go for Alabama. Food prices were higher than that of an Alabama football game and the atmosphere just wasn't there. A player had hit a ball a little past us and my son jogged over there to see if they would toss it up to him and the security guard immediately got disrespectful with my son. We continued to watch the game when my son walked over there to see if the player warming up the outfielder would toss it up and the security guard again proceeded to get nasty and rude with my son and talked to him like he was poop on the bottom of someone's shoe and then proceeded to say something again as my son was walking away and almost back to our seat. The park has a museum and mementos that display historical images and artifacts of when the Barons and Black Barons played here including Willie Mays. Seeing the old souvenir booth, gates, refreshment stand, etc was a walk back in time. If you are a baseball fan or just a history fan you need to visit Rickwood Field if you have the chance.
