Both my kids have been to Good Sam (one is still there; one has graduated). I looked at various schools prior to deciding on Good Sam, and I'm confident I made the right choice! The teachers are amazing, and you truly feel they care about your child. It's also small enough that your kid (and you) know all the teachers quickly, no matter what class they normally teach. The class sizes are also smaller than a lot of other locations, and every class has its own individual classroom and outdoor space, which is really nice. For those younger than 2 years old, you get a detailed daily report (milk, meals, diaper changes). For those 2 and above, separate gym and music classes are done weekly with a dedicated PE and music teacher. At 3 and above, an optional Mandarin class is also offered, and my older child actually learned a lot from it! They also start doing rotations such as Spanish, social studies, etc, so they start learning about a variety of topics. For all ages, you get frequent photos and videos sent on the Brightwheel app to keep you updated. In the summer, they have a daily schedule with fun activities that include things like various dress up themes, water play, bike day, and different activities on campus (foam party, magic show, petting zoo, etc). It's a blast for the kids! When my older child started elementary school, I actually again visited some other schools that would have been more convenient for now a daily two location drop off and pick up, but in the end, we still elected to keep our younger one at Good Sam. There aren't enough words to express how grateful I am that Good Samaritan Preschool exists! Since I enrolled my eldest child back in 2022, I've watched her learn, grow, and thrive under the nurturing care of so many amazing teachers and staff. The school offers regular gym activities, Chinese lessons, music and dance classes, and even extra special programming during the summer months (foam parties! bounce houses! bike days! it's fun galore!). When it came time to find childcare for my second child, there was no question that I'd be enrolling him in GSP. Within the first two weeks of starting, he developed so many skills, just from being immersed in such a stimulating, interactive, and supportive environment! The front desk staff are professional and friendly, the teachers go above and beyond to educate the children in creative and fun ways, and the broader network of parents is close-knit and mutually supportive. In fact, we have made many friends with other GSP families and often arrange playdates even outside of childcare hours, just because my children miss their classmates so much! I trust this community whole-heartedly to be my children's home away from home. Every staff member here is committed to caring for the whole child, and the GSP community really feels like a family. This place is a real gem, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who is looking for a loving, nourishing place for their child to grow in the crucial years of early childhood! read more

There is no question as to the quality of the teachers and how they will help raise your kids to be great human beings. I was a former student here many years ago, and while some of the staff were kind and supportive, there was a teacher named Miss Mazlyn (or Miss Lyn) who was psychologically abusive towards her students. She would punish us by making us sit in time-out corners, and she would pull our ears and hair. Many other students and I will never forget the abuse we experienced at this school. Despite this, I am still grateful for the few good teachers who made a positive impact on our lives. This review should be a reminder for pre-schools to do a serious background check on the individual they tend to hire. Again as a community schools need to do a better job in protecting children, and keeping them away from dangerous situations. Please do better next time schools. read more

I brought my son here as a very anxious first time Mom whose baby wasn't napping and would not take a bottle at 5 months. First day I am sitting in the parking lot calling to let Ms Laura (the baby room teacher) know that I'm there to nurse and she informs me he already took a bottle and is napping! My son loved going to this school and loved Ms Laura, in fact even when he aged out of her class he would always get so excited when he would see her. She's great at keeping the room spotless, takes them for lots of walks in this cute baby buggy they have and is truly a baby whisperer. Thank goodness for Good Sam and Ms Laura! read more

This is my experience as mom with a child in the infant room that still haunts me to this day . I witnessed on two occasions children being forced to go to sleep on the crib. Another occasion the teacher picked up the child and slammed them on her lap, because the child did not want to go to sleep. The infants are in a small room for more than 6 hours a day with no outside play which they lie to parents about . The only outside access is through the back door which is gated. All of these concerns which I immediately voiced to the director , all too which she responded " yes I have noticed the teacher being over whelmed by teacher turnover in that room" . " she needed to catch her in the act " . Please take the time to really look around and see what's really happening there. I pulled my child out immediately . read more

My son started here when he was 6 months old - 27 months and the love and genuine warmth of the staff has significantly impacted his emotional growth and development. My personal belief is that from infantry to toddlerhood the most important factor is emotional awareness, understanding, and support of those unknown feelings. My son is so happy all the time, super social, and loves to participate in all activities. It may be personality, but the fact that he remembers all his teachers'/friends' names and fun activities he enjoyed with them reinforces the genuine warmth he felt from the staff at Good Samaritan. I love their intimate setting with the kids (not too spacious) so it encourages teachers to be more attentive to all the kids. They don't have big sized classrooms, so my son has always had lots of attention from his teachers and of course it helps improve his overall attentiveness. We moved from San Jose to Orange County which is the reason why we had to depart, but I would love to have stayed at the same school because he definitely considers the GS staff his second family. I've physically toured 6 different daycares in Northern CA and 6 different daycares in Southern CA, and I can't say that I've felt more kindness and genuine love for the kids than at Good Sam Preschool. Update: I received a voicemail from Stacey basically defending herself for name dropping in my original review. My review is is based on my own experience and opinion, which I'm entitled to just as anyone else. I'm not denying they can probably provide quality education but now this is based on my personal interactions with them. I called back to see if there was an actual resolution to the main problem. It's a matter of principle, my husband and I asked multiple times to make sure we'd get a full refund, Janette kept saying yes so we thought they were being nice enough to give us time to make arrangements. That's what we were expecting. Stacey calls me back saying I put false information in my review, and I'm slandering them. I don't have foggy memory and everything I wrote is actually what happened and my opinion of it (again I'm entitled to it just as anyone else). She kept insisting that I was being unprofessional, but what do you call it when an administrator makes a personal call to the client getting emotional about a yelp review? And evidently talking to other parents to counter with a 5 star review (case and point Mark H's "response"). I am so disgusted with this place! Again: this 1-star is based on their quality and handling of this situation. ===================================== If you don't want to read my rant/review, to keep it simple, the program enforced by this preschool is meant to filter out children that don't meet their standards. By that, 2 year olds are already expected to sit still, stand in line, wash their own hands, and master any other skill BEFORE enrolling. If not, they will slap a label on your child and try to use any means necessary to give them the boot. As a parent warning other new parents, you know your child best and don't let anyone tell you what "normal" is. They'll use their "policies" as reason to alienate your child and make you feel that your child is different. Let's just be real, every child is different and there's nothing wrong with that, but it shouldn't be used to deny quality learning. The teachers are passionate about kids, but the administration is very small minded about this. Just my opinion, but if you want more details keep reading. Good Samaritan also has 12 children per classroom with 2 teachers each. I wanted to work closely with his teachers so we could help my son progress and grow. I told one of his teachers, Miss Nazia, that my 2 year old may need some time adjusting because home daycare isn't as structured as preschool, he may still be jet lagged, and it's a completely new environment all together. He also has a speech delay so he can't communicate well. About 4 hours into his first day, Stacey, one of the administrators, called me, which immediately put me in panic mode that something bad happened to my son. She actually just wanted to chat about my son's development, said he was a special needs case, and that they were understaffed and unable to provide that kind of care. Note that my son was not even diagnosed for anything other than delayed speech, but he is able to communicate by sign language or gestures. My husband and I spoke to the director Janette the next day, because it seemed they were already wanting to kick him out after a rough first day. We asked if kids are given time to adjust, but they already labeled him special needs and they're not able to provide the care he needs. We asked for a refund in full, to which they agreed, but as of now they only want to give us half. We wanted to give him time to adjust, and time to make arrangements with other daycares, but my husband works full time and it's also the last few weeks of the semester for me. We decided to pull him out, because most of the teachers didn't want to deal with him (nor did they know how to work with him). Keep in mind that most of the teachers do not have education or child development degrees, but just experience and passion for children which could be enough for some, but not suitable for all. The director is now going back on her word and saying they will refund us half, because they did provide care for him. But what kind of care is labeling him special needs and leaving only one teacher to actually work with him? Miss Nazia hasn't even said anything to us since that first day and has generally been avoiding my son. There was one day I picked up my son from the playground and the teachers were standing around, NOT playing with the children, and they said I could find my son in one of the slides, where he has a mouthful of chalk that no one bothered to check on him. The director needs to keep her word about our full refund, just as basic customer service, even if she mispoke. But no surprise, we were also expecting an opportunity for quality learning environment, and a lot of promises they made also came up short. read more

We've recently received a letter from Good Samaritan Preschool. They sent us a reimbursement for the rest of the tuition we payed them. They wished us well, and wished for a bright and loving future for our son. Although there were a couple of things that they could have done differently before, this gesture was much appreciated. We have been sending our kids to Good Sam for a little over 3 years. I am a working mom that wanted to send my infant to a place that I felt was safe and loving and where my child would learn and grow her skills before going to kindergarten. I looked at several daycares before choosing Good Sam and it was a no brainer when my second child was born that she would go there as well. I liked the fact that they had a classroom environment and that my child would be in a room with kids of the same age and skill level. I feel that my children are learning age appropriate things if not learning things even faster than usual and advancing at an appropriate level. My oldest child seems to catch on to things quickly and when the school has felt that she is not being challenged anymore they have recognized that and together we all made the decision that she may need to move up to the next classroom where she may be challenged a little more. I like that they know my child well enough to know what is best for her and while they have a system in place for when the kids should go to the next classroom, ultimately they will do what needs to be done based on what is best for the child. The teachers at Good Sam have been wonderful and are so loving. I love coming to get the kids and hearing from the teachers all of the interactions of the day. The under 2 year olds get daily reports sent home of how the day went and when they sleep, eat, etc so that I know what to expect when I take them home and I can keep them on a similar routine on the weekends. The older kids have set themes and lesson plans for the school year which have been great. I can look at the calendar and ask my child about the topics of the month which I can usually figure out myself based on what she is singing or talking about at home. They also usually have a weekly calendar posted in the rooms of what specifically they are doing every day that week. We can't say enough about the awesome office staff that is the glue that keeps this preschool together. You can tell that they genuinely care about these kids and help to take care of the teachers that work for them and show their appreciation for the hard job that they have. We have to factor in an extra 15 minutes during the morning drop off so that my kids can go in and say hi to the office staff before I take them to their classes. We love this school and the staff so much and it feels like they are family to us. My kids are excited to go to school and see their teachers and friends everyday and nothing makes you feel better about the decision you have made for your kids than hearing them say "I want to go to school/I like going to school!" read more

Sent our son here from 15mo - 3years old. He had a hard time with the new environment, but the teachers and staff were so caring and helped him adjust quickly. His teachers were great, especially Lupe, who helped with potty training, in addition to structured learning activities, while still having fun and allowing for free play. Loved that they offered parents night out once in a while. Their summer program also offers a variety of activities for the kids - bugs, bubbles, bike days, water play days, petting zoo, park field trip walks, etc. They also have mini celebrations for mother's day, father's day, Christmas show, Easter egg hunt, Halloween costume party, end of year fair, and more. Also pricing is more reasonable compared to some of the other "well-known" or large daycare/preschools in the Sunnyvale/Cupertino area. You get what you pay for, but it also must be reasonable, especially considering the cost of living in this area! Half days or part time schedules make it easy for working parents to find what works for them. Very convenient to 280 and 85 highways. Curious how traffic will be affected with new Apple campus right across the street. Our son gained a lot of confidence since attending Good Sam, we were sad to leave this community. Also met some wonderful families here. Some of the teachers are available to babysit on weekends, no need to find another caregiver! I would recommend Good Sam to anyone looking for a great community for your children to learn and grow in. read more

My kids attended this school when they were just a few weeks old through a couple years old and loved it! The teachers are incredibly kind and caring and the administration is organized and fantastic! The GSP community overall -- through dinners and events -- is great. For my second child, I even commuted for about *2 hrs* each day just so that my kid could attend this school. Highly recommend! read more

We LOVE Good Sam! My son is 15 months old, and has attended GSP since he was 10 months old. A few things that made us choose GSP were that the infant/young toddler classes are relatively small AND they group the babes by age/ability rather than putting 6 week - 2 year olds in the same classroom. This really set GSP aside from other places we toured. That along with the super responsive and friendly admin folks + the glowing recommendation we received from a friend made this a no brainer. And what keeps us loving GSP is how happy my little guy is. When I say "it's time to go to school" in the morning he excitedly runs to the door and says "go go." He comes home with a bunch of new skills all the time - signing for "more" and knowing where his nose and other body parts are, etc. They use a sign in/out/billing tool called BrightStar, which allows teachers to post photos - I recently received photos of my little guy exploring a "sandbox" made of ground cheerios (taste-safe sensory play FTW!), and one with a live duckling in the class. The admin staff is clear in the their communication with parents, teachers are happy (they all know my babe by name, even if they don't interact with him every day), and other parents are friendly. I highly recommend GSP! Your babe will thank you. :) read more

My three year old and four year old have both attended Good Sam since they were two. This is an excellent facility both for those who need full time care as well as those who only wish to have their kids in part-time. They include an option for 3/4 days. Over the last two years the school has gotten even better in the sense that they have added specific programs like music where they bring in outside "talent" to supplement the capabilities of the staff. They have also recently upgraded the specialized playgrounds for the youngest children. Although the school is in a church, we have never felt left out even though we are not associated with the church. The location is very convenient for getting on 280. We will kept coming to Good Sam even when my 4 year old started co-op preschool, alternating co-op mornings with Good Sam full days. read more

We have two daughters that we have been taking to Good Sam for full time care. Our oldest has been going there for 4 years and our youngest 2. I can say that they have the best teachers. Theyre very caring and they formed strong bonds with our kids. There is very little turnover in the staff and most of the teachers have been there throughout the years that our kids attended. The facilities were great, especially the new playgrounds. The school has a strong budget to maintain and install new equipment when needed. They have parents night out which we have taken advantage of every time. Lots of activities to keep the kids entertained and happy. The community is also great, as we've made friends with many other parents and organized play dates and birthday parties. Highly recommend this day care! read more

We have had our kids here for the last 5 years, and it has only gotten better over that time. My son is about to start kindergarten, and he is completely prepared and ready to go -- can write his first and last name, count to 100, and do simple addition problems. My daughter loves her teachers in the Butterfly room (new to the school this year) and loves being with her friends, with whom she has been here with for almost four years now. The biggest advantage they have now is the director. After a few came and went through a revolving door, she has been there for three years now and is absolutely top notch. She's gotten a new playground installed, brought gymnastics and music enrichment programs, and is in the process of installing security cameras based on parent feedback. My husband and I enrolled our daughter at Good Samaritan Preschool when she was 4 months old (January 2018). She's our first child so we were very nervous about taking her to daycare. We absolutely loved this daycare. The front office staff is amazing (Stacey and Janette are fantastic). The infant daycare instructors are very sweet and very accommodating. From day one we felt completely comfortable with our daughter being there - we knew she was safe and very well taken care of. In a very short period of time, our daughter was enjoying her time there and would even get fussy when we came to pick her up! She'd rather be there to play with her new friends! Unfortunately I got a new job and was no longer close enough to this daycare to keep our daughter enrolled. It was very sad for us to leave as we wish we could have kept her there for years. My 5 year old has been attending Good Sam since he was 4 months. My toddler (2nd child) started at 4 months lasts year. My wife and I love Good Sam. We have seen unbelievable growth in my oldest son. Everyday he seems to come home knowing something new that he learned there. As others mentioned, the teachers are awesome! They get to know all the kids not just those in their class rooms. The school has science class, P.E., religion based time (once a week) on top of the regular preschool/pre-k course work. The Pre-School is great. The day care side is awesome too. Both my sons adjusted great there and never were unhappy when picked up. The infant teacher Ms. Laura is awesome. She figured out all the tricks to get our sons to take bottles, nap, etc. I highly recommend Good Sam. If you want to your children to be happy, well looked after, and be well prepared for Kindergarten, then you should pick Good Sam. read more

I currently work at a preschool and because of it, I am extremely picky with where my own kids go. I have been extremely happy with the care my son has received in the infant classroom. The teachers are very caring and work well with the the kids needs and parent requests. The office stay is very communicative and organized. Good Sam is a special preschool, my three year old thrives in their nurturing environment. The balance of gym, music, art, story-time and play have a very positive influence...which I can hear at night as he practices a new song falling asleep, and see as he looks forward to the new school day each morning. And more importantly, he has a warm connection with all the teachers -- in the playground, in the classroom and passing in the hall.
