In addition to that, a big chunk of teachers and students left after some conflict with the former principal. The school is now rebuilding with the new principal, Dr. Palladino, who is awesome with kids. The TK class I've experienced so far is fantastic. The curriculum is well structured and my child is engaged all day, thanks to the small class size. They even split the already tiny class to fit each child's needs. I've noticed that a few kids are doing additions and some kids are taking it a bit slower and focusing on writing numbers and counting. I've toured almost every school within a 15 minute drive and SJC had the most productive and structured daily schedule for TKs. I felt like most of the schools have too much free playtime and nap time and some have half-day classmates, meaning all the learning ends by noon. At SJC, the teachers are doing something with the kids all day, whereas many schools have several hours of mere childcare. I love that the day includes number senses, math, English and language arts every day. They also learn Spanish (the teacher is amazing btw), P.E., art, music, science once a week. The teacher follows a well-known curriculum from start to finish, rather than piecing in materials from here and there. Another point I love about this school is that the older kids are nicer in small communities. The big kids play with my child and take care of her at extended care and everyone gives my child a hug when I pick her up. I highly recommend SJC. I've seen some people discouraged to join due to the small class size but I'm seeing positive effects on my child. The kids all play well together and they don't divid into groups. The eight graders look like they are basically a family. I suggest that you at least try it out in TK and see how it is. If you decide to move, most schools expand their class size in K, so it won't be that hard to get in.

The teachers love what they do…read moreand thrive in Saint Andrew's environment because the school and community truly support them. They're encouraged to attend conferences, take classes, try new approaches, bring in fresh ideas, and leverage their networks to take learning to the next level. It's a simple formula: happy teachers, happy kids. Happy kids, happy parents. Here are just a few examples that stood out over the years: 1. The science teacher allowed students to participate in an NPR project; some of their work was even featured in the showcase library. 2. The English teacher spent incredible time and care editing students' writing. The growth and learning that came from this process were remarkable. 3. The math teachers made lessons fun, engaging, and practical. Many students who never attended outside math programs were still placed in the highest-level math class as high school freshmen. 4. Teachers prepare students for high school through thoughtful program design and daily practice. Students learn to be organized, take responsibility, know when to ask for help, and approach school seriously. 5. The athletic education team provides diverse programs that engage all students and offers life coaching based on each child's developmental needs. 6. Teachers often use their own time to help students who need extra support. At Saint Andrew's, children grow up in a community where they are loved for who they are and are taught to love others for who they are. When children know they are loved, they dare to take risks, stand up for one another, perform under pressure, bounce back from setbacks, and be generous with empathy and help. That's what real mental strength and resilience look like. As parents, it's important for us to be partners in this journey. Be kind and open with the teachers. Talk to them. Collaborate with them. When school and homework go hand-in-hand, the results are powerful. No one school fits everyone. If your child is academically far ahead or must be ranked number one in every category, you may want to explore other options. But if you're looking for a school that nurtures both the mind and heart to make an exceptional young adult, Saint Andrew's is a very special place.

Our child attended Saint Andrew's for three years. Kindergarten was outstanding. Miss Gaulden brought warmth and deep experience; our child thrived and we were grateful for her classroom. She left mid-year after more than 15 years--a sudden change that removed a stabilizing presence. First grade was a sharp contrast, especially in how concerns were communicated and handled. Our child later told us he was told he was "not a good student." We were not informed at the time, so we can only speak to the impact. We believe that phrasing is inappropriate for any young student. Effective feedback should name a behavior and the next action ("Here are the two steps to start," "Use the 'I need a break' card"), and if harmful language is used, there should be a restorative repair with the student. In addition, our child reports being removed from the first-grade classroom multiple times. The teacher reportedly told him "Out" to make him leave--sometimes after he repeated "silly" comments. For early elementary, removing a child from class for that kind of age-typical verbal behavior, without a consistent coaching plan and brief data, felt disproportionate to us. When we suggested teacher coaching/training to align classroom language and routines, the lower-school administration framed the situation primarily as a child issue and provided an extensive list of requirements for our child, rather than discussing staff coaching and consistency. We were told the expectation was an overnight jump to independence in first grade, rather than a developmentally typical, linear progression. In our current school that emphasizes written/visual directions, defined roles in group work, and strength-based language, our child is observed as empathetic, helpful, and an active group participant. That contrast suggests the issue was not a fixed trait in the child but the classroom approach and how behavior was defined and supported. this is our experiences.

It is a small school with a true family feel. Every teacher knows the students by name, and that sense of care is felt daily. The office staff is very responsive. Any time there has been a question or issue, we have always received a quick response and prompt action. The elective teachers deserve special recognition as well. Ms. Jeannie (Science), Ms. Edith (Spanish), and Ms. Zoe (Music) have all done an amazing job creating hands‑on, engaging lessons that truly keep the kids excited and involved. Most importantly, we cannot say enough wonderful things about my daughter's TK teacher, Ms. Weiss. My daughter absolutely loves her, and when I asked why, she said, "Because she listens to everything." That alone speaks volumes about the level of care, respect, and attention Ms. Weiss gives her students every single day. She is incredibly engaging, warm, and thoughtful, and she goes above and beyond to make learning fun by celebrating all kinds of occasions, decorating the classroom with her own amazing props and costumes for all the children, and going all out to make the school year special. Ms. Weiss is truly one of a kind. We have seen tremendous growth in our daughter under Ms. Weiss's guidance. Academically, she is excelling in reading and math, and her writing and reading skills have made huge strides. Even more meaningful is how genuinely interested she now is in reading and writing outside of the classroom. We have also seen amazing growth in her interpersonal skills such as confidently greeting others, engaging with new friends, and learning how to reason and communicate thoughtfully. All of this is thanks to Ms. Weiss and the strong foundation she has helped build during these critical early education years. We are incredibly grateful for the lasting impact she has had on our daughter's growth. While we are so sad to be leaving Ms. Weiss's class soon, we know the lessons, confidence, and love of learning will stay with our daughter for life. I also want to give a special thank you to my daughter's Pre‑K teachers, Ms. Sonal and Ms. Gauri. They did an incredible job setting a strong foundation in phonics and helping her transition from daycare into a more structured school environment. The early support was crucial to her confidence and success at the school in the beginning, and we are so grateful for the role they played in shaping her learning journey. Lastly, we are also so grateful for the extended day teachers who have been such a big part of our daughter's experience. Ms. Holly during Summer School and Ms. Hibah during TK have been absolutely wonderful. They keep the extended day program fun and engaging with creative arts, activities, and fresh ideas, which makes it feel less like "extra hours" and more like an extension of the school day. As parents, it gives us so much comfort knowing our child is in caring, creative hands even after regular school hours.

Ms. Weiss makes learning fun and engaging with weekly themes and celebrations (Mickey's birthday, Curious George, Harry Potter, Halloween etc.), plus impressive decorations and activities. You can tell she genuinely cares about every kid, and she makes it super parent-friendly too - she'll even provide costumes for events, and the birthday celebrations for each child feel really special. We've also seen a noticeable improvement in our daughter's early reading skills and art work. Extended care has also been a big plus. Ms. Hiba is hands-on, keeps the kids motivated, and uses little rewards (like stickers) that actually get them excited. The office staff is always friendly, and the leadership is very present. Ms. Swathi (Head of School) and Dipali (Assistant Director) greet families at the gate daily - sounds small, but it makes a huge difference and really shows how engaged they are. The school feels small, tight-knit, and perfect for young kids, and events like Winter Wonderland (Santa), the winter program, and Diwali are always well run. Overall, we're really happy and excited to have our daughter continue her learning journey at Stratford Winchester in the coming years.

One thing we've really appreciated is the balance between strong academics and social-emotional learning. Our child had a bit of an adjustment period coming from a different school environment at the start of summer camp, and Program Director Ms. Karwa was amazing in helping with that transition. She's thoughtful and supportive with younger children during big emotion moments and does a great job building strong relationships with parents. Teacher Ms. Chaudhry and Ms. Suresh have been caring, kind, and dedicated teachers who create a warm classroom environment while helping children grow both academically and socially. Another thing that really stands out about Washington Park campus is the sense of community. There's a strong connection between families, students, teachers, and campus leaders. The family engagement efforts are wonderful, and the campus leaders and admissions put a lot of effort into creating opportunities for families to connect and feel involved. You can feel the heart and intention Ms. Sandeepa brings, and how thoughtfully she uses parent feedback to make the learning journey even more special. I've been impressed many times by the activities she intentionally designs to support children's social-emotional growth, something that matters so much to young kids and might not be emphasized in every Stratford setting. Our daughter enjoys her learning through art, singing, games, and hands-on experiences like exploring the garden and different materials. We also LOVE the Mandarin afterschool program and the teachers. A good leadership team matters so much for a campus. We are happy with our choice and would highly recommend Stratford Washington Park to parents who seek an inclusive learning environment with natural greenery and professional while caring faculties to be with your children 80% of their awake time during weekdays.

Every time I pick her up, the teachers take the time to share how her day went, what milestones she is reaching, and offer thoughtful advice on how we can support her growth at home. One of the things I appreciate most is the school's meal program. They have an on-site chef who prepares healthy lunches and snacks--my daughter absolutely loves his cooking! I never had to worry about her comparing her lunch to others or eating unhealthy, processed snacks every day. In fact, the school's broccoli soup is such a hit that many parents, myself included, have asked Chef Jacob for the recipe. :) The school also maintains a high academic standard. While I focus on playing and bonding with my daughter at home, I feel that what she learns at school is more than enough. I am constantly surprised by how much her knowledge is expanding and how her questions are becoming deeper and more diverse. As my daughter finishes TK and prepares to move on to Kindergarten, our family will miss this school dearly. I am confident that this school provided not just an education, but a foundation of love, social skills, and manners. One of the most remarkable aspects of Mandarin Academy is the speed at which our son has started speaking Chinese at home. We are a non-Chinese family. In these intimate settings, every student has the opportunity to actively engage and participate in the learning process. This focus on individual attention and participation is invaluable when it comes to mastering a new language, and we've seen firsthand how it has benefited our child's language development. We also got a spot offered by Cupertino Union School District (CUSD), but after experiencing what Mandarin Academy has to offer, we made the decision to withdraw and stay with Mandarin Academy. Main reason was the big class sizes at CUSD (20+ students) which makes it hard to learn a language.
