The teachers have been patient and thoughtful in helping him build structure and routine, and we've watched him grow so much since starting here. The classrooms are always clean and well-organized, and the parent volunteer program is something we especially appreciate, it gives us a real window into the classroom and keeps us closely connected with the teachers. A special shout-out to Mrs. Lin, who is truly exceptional at what she does. She's warm and kind with the children while also being firm in the best way, gently guiding them through the Montessori approach. You can tell she genuinely loves the kids and the work. Villa Montessori is the best thing that has happened to our family. This is my 4 year old's second year at Villa and he started as an extremely shy and sweet kid with no previous day care or school experience. In the past year, he has blossomed into an independent and assertive child, and he has learned a lot both academically and socially. Villa has an amazing ratio of 1-8 (3 teachers per classroom of 24 kids) that sometimes falls to 1-6 or 1-7. They are a true Montessori school, and the child stays with the same teachers for all the years. My son's two main teachers, Mrs. Fan and Mrs. De Silva, have been with the school for over a decade. My son has received a lot of individualized attention and loves his teachers. I think he would like to live with Mrs. Fan if given the chance. :) The teachers at Villa are extremely good at what they do and very passionate about Montessori education. When I went in for "observation day," each child was doing a different "job," so the teachers were managing 24 different activities, but everything was still very orderly. Even the tiny 2.5 year olds knew the rules and everyone knew to clean up. We really appreciate how diligent our son has become with washing hands, tidying up spaces, and wiping surfaces! Director Lin's leadership is also really exceptional. She is extremely organized, responsible, and sets clear expectations for the kids and parents. I love that the handbook, documents, twice-a-year report cards, and paperwork are all in good order. She is also very hands-on and I have seen her consoling a crying child in her lap, spoon feeding another child during lunch, and taking the time to talk with the kids individually. I am so impressed that she takes the time to get to know every one of the forty-some kids at Villa. She works many many hours at Villa and commutes from an hour away. Villa is not just a job for her - this is her life's purpose. Everyone at the school is very responsive and excellent with communication. Karen (who manages most of the administrative tasks) and Director Lin will usually respond to messages on Brightwheel within a few hours. We really appreciate how they take parent concerns very seriously. The flexibility of programs at Villa is also great - they have AM program (9-12 pm), PM program (1-4 pm), PM plus extended care (1-5 pm), full day (9-4 pm), or full day plus extended care (9-5 pm). I feel very lucky to be able to enroll my child in a half day program so that he gets a few hours of school every day, and we still get enough hours to go on an adventure together outside of school. One really brilliant and unique thing about Villa is that their after-school program (school ends at 4, there is another hour of after school until 5 pm) teaches the children Mandarin Chinese! I enrolled my son in the after school hour just for the Chinese class - Mrs. Fan and Mrs. Liu are both excellent Chinese teachers from Taiwan. I sat in on one class to see what it would be like, and was astounded that all of the kids had excellent pronunciation. Chinese tones are very difficult so it was really surprising to see a room full of non-Chinese kids speaking perfect Chinese! Lastly, the other Villa families also makes this place special. Villa is a non-profit with a governing board that is made up of parents. We really appreciate the parents that have taken on this responsibility. We have also made many friends at Villa, and really appreciate the sense of community. Two of our kids have been attending this school for approximately 6 months and so far, it has been amazing. The teachers and director of this school really care for the kids, provide quality teaching, and it shows. They are helpful, responsive, detail-oriented, considerate, caring and plan/provide an excellent program for the kids to learn and grow. The curriculum and photos of our kids are shared regularly with us. When our kids first started preschool, they understandably needed a little time to adjust to the new environment. Now it is pretty seamless for them, they are excited to be there, and I can see the growth in new vocabulary, concepts, and learning. The parents are involved in activities and some stay after school to hang out and let the kids socialize/play with other kids. It's evident the overall culture supports growth, learning, and everyone cares for the little ones. Villa Montessori is a great school and has been exceeding my expectations. My son went to Villa for 2 years and it was amazing. It was his first time being in a structured environment away from home and the staff was very patient with him through the adjustment period and very communicative with us on how to set him up for success. Our son has been here less than a year but the experience has been great - he did not cry at all from day one (vs right before this at summer school even 1 month in he would cry) and comes home happy. Many of the teachers have been here for a very long time and one of the parents on the board apparently studied here decades ago - this continuity helps keep the quality consistent over the years. The Montessori Birthday celebration for kids was a highlight (Birthday Walk combined with pictures while growing up) as was the winter performance (including the children singing Twinkle Twinkle in 5 languages). He has also picked up a lot of small good habits - I was shocked when a few months in, he started knocking on doors before entering a room (instead of barging in like the in-laws on Everybody Loves Raymond). We found this place on Yelp in 2023 since it was the only 5.0 rated Montessori school in the area with more than 10 reviews at the time (and still is in Dec 2024) but unfortunately they did not have openings then - after moving to the new campus more spots opened up and we got in. read more

My kid is an introvert, so we were a bit worried about his school life and hesitant to change schools after we moved when he was 3.5 years old. However, after meeting with the teacher and director before he started, I knew I had found the right place. Now my child is 5 and about to enter Kindergarten. During his year and a half at Villa, he has grown a lot socially and academically. The teachers and director are warm and supportive; they always consider parents' perspectives and treat the kids with love and care. I feel at ease sending my child there. He has also developed a strong attachment to the teachers and still talks about them after graduating this spring. This is our first year for our daughter who started Villa the summer of 2024. She was 2 years old and 8 months when she first started. I will preface by saying I am a teacher within the Cupertino Union School District, and I am incredibly happy with my daughter's new community. Her teachers, Mrs. Dhruva and Ms. Sunita, have had many years of experience with teaching the Montessori philosophy, and the way my daughter comes home happy every day reflects the warm, caring, nurturing environment that Villa Montessori provides. In less than one year, I have seen her grow both academically and socially, and the pictures they provide of her in school are evidence that teachers and staff care about the well-being of each student. Villa Montessori is truly a hidden gem in South Bay. Our son started in TK this year, and his teachers have been amazing in making sure his transition was smooth and comfortable. While this review focuses on the extended care program, we feel the same way about the whole day program as well. Extended care at Villa is a wonderful, structured learning environment where kids get to learn Mandarin. There's a circle time where they sing songs and listen to stories, and the day ends with a fun craft session. Whenever we ask our son about his favorite part of the day, he always shares exciting stories about extended care. He's now teaching us Mandarin with so much excitement and confidence. One of the things that stands out the most is how much my daughter loves going to school every single day. She eagerly wakes up in the morning, excited to embark on another day of fun and learning. One of the highlights of the week is definitely "Sharing Day" on Fridays. The children bring a project of their choice to present to their classmates. I feel this helped my kid in getting creative and promoted her self-expression. Also helped enhance her speaking and presentation skills. My daughter has grown tremendously in her confidence and communication. My daugter's teachers are Ms. De Silva and Ms. Dhruva and its a joy to interact with them. They are outstanding educators who truly care about the well-being and development of their students. I was at school with my daughter on the mothers day event and I saw first hand how they were so warm and nurturing .The kids were very confident and would ask for help when needed without hesitation. You could see that each child feels valued and supported. They are honest with feedback and I really appreciate it e.g once I was informed to send more vegetables and fruits for snacks instead of cookies. I appreciated this feedback. I have witnessed firsthand how my daughter has flourished under their guidance. Another thing that I liked was that there are no excessive volunteer hours or extra expenses; all-inclusive monthly fee. Lastly, I must mention the pride I feel every Friday when my daughter brings home the work she has accomplished during the week. It's incredible to see her artistic creations, writing samples, and other projects that showcase her progress and growth. At the end of the year they get a performance evaluation and we are called in to discuss with her teachers. Its a learning experience for me to see what my child needs to work on. I get weekly email from Mrs Lin about the study points for that week so I can reinforce them at home. Emails are replied to promptly. If any injury happens we are notified. On multiple occasions when I have been running late for pickup, I have been able to pick up my daughter without any disapproval or warnings from the teacher. This school has been the best decision we made for our son. Just in 1 year, our son has become very independent, thoughtful, and confident. He was quite shy to begin with but under the care of the best teachers here, he has really opened up and loves talking about his school and his teachers all the time. Location- About the facility, the school is located in West valley elementary school and the location is just amazing because my son (only child) gets to see other older kids attending the school which fascinates him. Villa's classrooms are beautiful with all wooden furniture and montessori materials. Each room has its own bathrooms as well. Most importantly, I would like to talk about the amazing culture at the school. The teachers have been associated with Villa for many years now (some even for more than 10 years) and have created a happy and warm atmosphere for themselves. It is a non profit school that is run by parent volunteer board of directors. The boards' involvement along with the teachers ensures that the school is run efficiently, the kids get the best quality education and the community is strong and tight knit. Our son started Villa Montessori in the fall and it's been great to see him grow and be challenged in new and different ways. He was previously at a home daycare setting so we wanted to expose him to a more structured school setting to prepare him for TK next year. Villa Montessori has been a great transition for him in this way. He's grown incredibly independent during the last few months and we know it's thanks to the Montessori method and the support his teachers provide for him. The staff at Villa Montessori are wonderful. They're warm and caring, and you can tell that they care a lot about providing an enriching environment for the students. The program they have created for the students is fun, engaging, and super creative. I'm always so excited to see all of the projects that are brought home at the end of the week and hear my son share about what he learned. The teachers also send biweekly reports for each student, in addition to monthly newsletters about the upcoming month's program. I'm sure I've been thinking the best decision we made to send my daughters to Villa. I sent my daughters to Villa for 3years in total. Teachers are always warmhearted and very supportive. I loved to have short conversations with teachers when I drop off and pick up my kids. Even though I stopped by within a couple of minutes, teachers let me know how my kids spent time at school, what they work on and how they made a progress. It's not only that I've felt so much improvement in their speech, fine motorskills and academic skills but also they got tons of knowledge such as culture from all over the world, how veggies grow, solar system and so on. My kids couldn't stop telling me what learned today and I loved to listen to. There are conferences twice a year with our classroom teacher. It's absolutely helpful to get the information about my kids. They tell me their improvement, recommendations what I should work on to kids at home and also they ask me what I want them to make a progress. Since I used to involve a lot with his older two siblings but then I had to work full-time, I had been really careful with choosing schools for him. Because of covid and having older siblings, my son is cautious and had no desire to a new place or play with new people. I was so happy and feel blessed when I saw he transitioned to Villa without any struggle. Teachers care to build trust with him and he treat teachers as friends which I care about most as a parent. Our daughter enjoys going to school everyday and interacting with her teachers and friends. Every Friday she brings home a bag full of projects she has completed during the week and she loves showing off all of her hard work. The teachers are so caring and gentle and every day at pick up you can always see one child or another giving big hugs to their teachers. We found the school is very authentic Montessori school with skilled and fantastic teachers. They encouraged us the family to get involve as much as possible (although I believe it would be difficult under COVID19 situation but) and I liked that because, at the end, the children can learn not only from the teachers, but also friends, friends' parents and people in the community. My 4 year-old boy and girl twins have started at Villa in August this year. I'm so happy because they love to go to their preschool every single day! That means a lot to me! Besides that why do I love this preschool? - The classrooms are clean, spacious, well-organized, and full of natural light. It's important to me. - Villa nurtures my children's curious mind through their authentic Montessori curriculum and materials. Right now my children are learning about the Big Bang, solar system, land/water/air. It seems abstract and complicated for that age, doesn't it? Well I was very surprised when my 4 year-olds "taught" me (while having dinner) everything about the gravity of the sun, and how the planets (in their order!) orbit around the sun! We often underestimate young children. When they're taught in a concrete and intelligent way, they learn easily! - I love Fridays because it's the day my twins bring back all the work they did during the week. I'm so touched because they're so proud to show me and explain to me their projects in language, art, math, practical life etc... one by one. It takes a while... but it's good quality time ;) I noticed that my twins' learnings are personal and individualized because they don't bring the exact same projects. - Most of all, I trust the whole staff to take good care of my precious ones! Not only the teacher to children ratio is great, but all of the teachers are Montessori qualified and experienced. Most importantly: the teachers are very nice people genuinely dedicated to the children. I'm so glad my children get the chance to meet such good role models of kindness, patience, and encouragement every day! One special word about the director: Mrs. Geetha is amazing and very involved the school's life. I could be friend with all of them because they're so nice! One last word to finish: I like that it's a non profit school run by parents because it takes a village to raise a child! Villa is a community where the parents get the chance to participate in the school's life of their little ones if they can. We are delighted that we chose Villa for our daughter last year. She has grown so much during her time at Villa, and she absolutely loves the weekly circle time discussions on different themes, where they teach the children a lot. When deciding on a pre-school for our daughter, we knew that we wanted to go the Montessori route. We evaluated several Montessori schools online and visited five schools in person. Villa was the first we visited and the one we ultimately chose. It just felt right. The staff was wonderful. Each was committed to continuing the work of Maria Montessori and it was clear from talking to them that the program was firmly rooted in the Montessori tradition. They had all of the requisite tools for the children and the program was structured for the individual to explore and grow. Beyond the staff, the parents were heavily involved with the programs and dedicated to the school's success. There is a true sense of community at Villa and everyone is there to support each other. Our daughter attended for three years and transferred to first grade from the kindergarten program. She was ready emotionally, mentally, and socially. This program is committed to the success of the child and the teachers ensure no body is left behind. Our daughter is now doing extremely well in first grade. She has the inner confidence to help her tackle any obstacle presented her and I attribute a lot of this success to Villa. Our son's kindergarten teacher had one more student from Villa as well as knew of another in another kindergarten and said she was amazed at how well kids come out of Villa. Long overdue review for Villa Montessori School. We've attended Villa Montessori since 2015 and this is our last year at this wonderful school before my youngest goes on to elementary. We've many wonderful years here and here are some of points on why we chose this school: - Authentic Montessori curriculum: we looked for both a play-based school and a Montessori school for our kids so they could have some free play time/growth, and also some structure (we attended both Villa Montessori and another play-based school at the same time, staggered times). However, after much searching we realized that most of the Montessori schools were not authentic (maybe one Teacher in the whole school knows Montessori). For those schools, since only one Teacher knows Montessori, more often than not, it's not practiced well (if at all), because all the other Teachers don't know it, the materials are expensive and they may not be willing to invest in it, etc. We discovered there's two official organizations to locate authentic Montessori schools: https://amshq.org/School-Resources/Find-a-School and https://amiusa.org/school-locator-2/ So Villa Montessori is one of the rare schools in the South Bay that is a Full Member Montessori School - Non-profit school: Montessori philosophy should be practiced in a non-profit environment because all profits made should be funneled back to the school and the children (aka better Teachers/Director wages, investment in Montessori materials, continued Teacher education) with focus on maintaining high quality and healthy operations, as opposed to for-profit schools where the goal is to maximize profits often at the cost of quality. Non-profit school also needs to be run by a Parent Volunteer Board of Directors, so the level of transparency, integrity and community is much stronger at this school than elsewhere. - Montessori methods: I am highly respectful of the Montessori method having gone through the observations and parent orientations at Villa Montessori. I see it in my children when they come home, how they independently pick up a rag and start wiping their spills, they independently pour themselves water and other acts that though I did not teach them, they seemed to have picked up at school and exhibit it confidently at home. - Staff: Over the years I've come to really adore all the staff, Directors and Teachers at the school. I can see they are all high caliber educators and truly care about the children, and the school. I've brought ideas and suggestions to Villa before and it's all been respectfully received, brainstormed and, if appropriate, was introduced/included to further enhance the children's growth. (I'm a pretty involved parent that does a lot of research on child development and very focused on my kids, especially their social & conflict resolution skills, as well as their confidence/independence/being flexible. So I sometimes have ideas to share with the school.) All in all, we highly recommend Villa Montessori and feel so lucky to have found this school, spending our most formative years here. I was looking for real, authentic Montessori for my son in the South Bay and finally found Villa. This is my son's second year at Villa and I have been very pleased with the school. The school is a full member school of AMS and all teaching staff are Montessori certified. From the class structure to curriculum, the school truly follows the Montessori methodology to provide a well-rounded education. I feel that the teachers at Villa are gentle, warm, encouraging, truly care about the kids, and want to be there teaching the kids. This observation still stays true after nearly 2 years. As for teacher turnover, there has not been any turnover during school year in my son's class room both years. The administrative staff is very professional, everything is clear and organized. The school's board of director consist of parents of current students which is another added comfort. My son has learned so much in the past 2 years - to count and add, to read and write, practical skills such as sewing and cutting, using his five senses, caring about environment, etc. He has grown into confident, inquisitive, and social preschooler. He loves going to school and tell me about his day when he comes home. The school has its own vegetable planters which the kids help taking care of and get to harvest the veggies to take home. The school also has sharing days for kids to start getting used to public speaking. One thing I observed in the numerous preschooler birthday parties I attended with my son, is that Villa kids are well behaved and respectful, are friendly and take the initiative to help. ​I highly recommend Villa if you are looking for an authentic Montessori preschool in the South Bay. read more

Excellent school. Wonderful to see my toddler grow up to a confident kindergarten kid with the well planned nurturing of the villa teachers. This school is a perfect combination of fun and learning. April 22nd, a special day. It is the Earth Day and it is Bring Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day (http://www.daughtersandsonstowork.org/wmspage.cfm?parm1=936) But what was special for me on that say? I got to go to "Father Day at Villa Montessori" What a great idea that Mrs Asche had from many years ago. I got to experience what my son typical through in school every day. You know what? It is one of the best days I have in a long time. I have my son going to Villa Montessori because I do not believe in cramming academic facts into him at this such young age. I believe in learning about things from things surrounding him. Although I have heard how Villa works and have gone to their open sessions for parents, I finally got to be one of them yesterday and did everything what they did. If there were any doubts in my mind, it is completely gone now. I think all fathers (and mothers) should go experiencing this and I won't give away all the details of what they did. I enjoyed immensely all the friendliness of children (and staffs) and learned something while I was there (such as yesterday was the Earth day.) In the last few months, I have observed that my son has knowledge about many things that I haven't taught him and the knowledge is useful for everyday living. I can definitely see he must have learned it from there. I have always wanted him to be curious about things and Villa encourages that and opens him to many of them--it is wonderful. We should nominate a day to be "Take Your Father to School Day". Well, it would be hard to be on the same day as "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work", just a little bit of logistics problem but it is worth to make this a National Day. Our first kid went to this school couple of years ago and now the second one is attending it. We zeroed in on this school after talking to many such schools. Firstly we wanted a Montessori since both our kids are fairly hyper and we wanted a system that would calm them down in a constructive and positive manner. Secondly we wanted a school which was very caring and provided individual attention. On both of those counts this school stood out. This school has been great for both our kids and teachers are almost like family to us now. My older kid still remembers them very fondly and keeps in touch with them. Even my niece is now attending this school. Overall this is a great school that helps kids develop in the right way in the formative years. read more

WARNING: Although this is an excellent school,there has been a recent change that may be detrimental and a calamity for the students. The Board has terminated the director and as a consequence the senior teachers are quitting. This may result in a lower level of excellence from the high standards that have been the history of this school,. It would be wise to question the Board regarding these changes. read more

However, WARNING, the Board of Directors is changing the current Director/Head Teacher, so BEWARE. Ask lots of questions when you attend OPEN HOUSE or observation. This is a very special place for my family. Our daughter was with Villa for 2 years before she started public school. She loves the school from the very beginning. The teachers are great educators. Loving and care, but they also did a good job teaching the kids routines and disciplines. I was amazed to see how well the kids behaved in the classroom when I visited my daughter's room. The curriculum and activities are all well planned. I also made a lot of mom-friends here. I am grateful for Villa. read more
