The office manager was excellent and very efficient with my insurance, scheduling and follow up. The technicians were very professional and extremely accommodating getting me in and out of the machine with my painful back. They provided me a disc for my back surgeon immediately and said it would take less than 48 hours for the radiologist to do the report. I left to bring the disc to my back surgeon and by the time I got there, the Rayus radiologist had already read the MRI and sent a comprehensive report to my doctor!!! I had to go back today for another copy of my disc for the pain neurologist and they had it ready and waiting for me! I highly recommend the staff at Rayus Radiology in Haverhill! As I do when scheduling all my appointments, I always ask the scheduler on the phone to please ask if the technician, medical staff, etc. would be willing to wear a mask for my appointment and to please make a note of it on my appointment. They said yes to all. When I arrived for my very early appointment, I checked in and asked the receptionist to please confirm that the tech would wear a mask during my appointment. She checked and came back to tell me that the tech declined. I said that I'm undergoing chemo and I'm severely immunocompromised. She said he doesn't have to because of their facility policy, so he won't. I walked out as this would not be safe for me. Seeing that this is a medical establishment, this is totally outrageous that a health care provider would not do something as simple as wear a mask for 45 minutes in order to keep the patient safe. Before covid it wouldn't even have been an issue, but now, I have to go through all this hassle just to get a medical test completed safely. I called another facility and they said "of course, no problem at all!" Shame on Shields MRI for not protecting vulnerable patients' health and I encourage anyone with a problem with their immune system, or if you live with someone with a problem with their immune system, to steer clear of Shields. If that's their attitude, they are just awful. I would write directly to the owner/CEO Thomas Shields, but I cannot find any contact info for him online.

After a not-so fabulous experience the week before at University Orthopedic MRI Center, I was…read morereferred to the Imaging Institute for an open MRI. An incredibly clean, modern facility, equipped with couches, a flat screen television and plenty of setting in the waiting room, it's a stark contrast to what I had been anticipating. I was seen on time and was taken back to a maze of dressing rooms and lockers. After a brief wait (and one hilariously giganticous hospital robe later), I was brought into the imaging room by two friendly and accommodating technicians. A little nervous and totally terrified after the last MRI, they reassured me this would be completely different and made sure I was entirely comfortable before starting. The full procedure took roughly 50 minutes and I was able to choose music to listen to during the process. The MRI itself was definitely a lot more comfortable than the closed machine we had attempted previously: I will warn you however, if you're claustrophobic and pick the open MRI, definitely snag a blanket 'cause it was frigid up in there. My only issue was after being told there would be no copay by both the referring physician's office as well as the previous imaging center who set up the appointment for me, I was charged $140. Which.. surprised me (and not in the good way). When I inquired about this, the receptionist informed me that my insurance changed and no longer covered MRI's copay free (which was also kinda strange since the difference in appointments was just a two day weekend). Later when I called my insurance they insisted there was no copay and claimed they were sending me payment. Overall, still, a good experience and totally recommended for those needing imaging done.
