It took us a while to find the right DJ, so Thomas was one of the later additions to our vendor team. If I had it to do again, he'd be the very first. Musical talent aside (I'll get there!) his professionalism and amazing organizational skills spilled over into the rest of the wedding and made the day so easy to plan. He coordinated with our venue and other vendors, and even created a timeline of the day for us. All of our planning documents were available in a Google Drive folder he created, so everything was accessible and editable at all times. He noticed and troubleshot anything in our planning that might have interrupted the "flow" of the day, and made sure to smooth it out to perfection. We planned a relatively simple ceremony and casual reception, but Thomas was ready for any particular detail a couple might want to include. Need a special song played at the perfect time? Want to play musical bingo? Planning a coordinated dance off at your reception? He's got you covered! We hired Thomas to DJ our wedding. It was important to us that we hired someone 1. Reliable 2. Professional and 3. Not Cheesy and 4. Who could understand our personalities and style of music... From the initial inquiry all the way through to the event, Thomas exceeded our expectations. My initial inquiry received a prompt response with pricing, details and availability. And shortly after we were meeting him in person to discuss details and sign a contract. When we met, he got to know the type of music we like and don't like... he helped us with song selections in areas we were not sure of. And for a very unique song request for the Mother/Son dance which was the only song he didn't have in his library - he had no problem downloading it. He even checked with my mother in law day of to make sure he had the right version! We spoke with him and met with him a few more times leading up to the event and he was always very responsive and flexible...which ended up meaning one thing we DIDN'T have to stress about leading up to the wedding! On the day of our wedding, Thomas showed up nice and early to make sure he was properly set up. He was professionally dressed and very respectful to my family, guests, and the other vendors. Thomas's set up had a very small footprint, it was classy and nicely lit with coordinating colors. His announcements were fun and energetic, yet professional. He kept the crowd on the dance floor all night, perfectly picking the timing of his song selections. Which by the way, for us was a perfect mix of the old and new and not all of your boring expected wedding music :-) He stuck to the do not play list, and was very respectful when guests had requests that did not fit in. Thomas was the DJ at our wedding and we (and our guests) could not have been happier with him! We had to do all of our planning remotely since we lived in a different state and wouldn't be back until our actual wedding; he made the process very easy. We had a backyard wedding with the ceremony fairly far from the tent/dance floor and Thomas was happy to play music in both places. His main setup was under the tent and then for the ceremony he brought a portable speaker which sounded great (I'll try to attach some pictures to give an idea). We had a food truck for dinner & no assigned seating-we tied numbers (1-6) to mason jars and when the ceremony was over everyone picked a jar with a number & that was the group they would be in to eat dinner (so that not everyone would go at once). I texted Thomas the morning of the wedding to see if he would be willing to work with the food truck folks (which was also farther away from the dance floor) to call up the group numbers when it was time. He was more than willing to do so and it worked out perfectly (I gave them each other's contact information & I think they texted him when it was time for the next group) Anyway, his announcements were great-with everything not just the food- and never got cheesy or showy or annoying. After the ceremony he was right on top of the music for games/dinner. He was very professional & approachable (a difficult balance to find in a DJ). We were open to guest requests except for a few songs we put on the do-not-play list (which Thomas made sure to keep off-even after my sister-in-law asked him to play one of them & then begged me to change my mind haha.) Our guests actually thought he was one of our friends that we hired since he was so friendly to everyone who approached him. Thomas did an amazing job at picking up on the changing energies of the crowd and keeping people engaged and happy. In the beginning when the dance floor was mostly used as a play area for the kids, he had them tearing it up-it was great (& made for some awesome pictures.) He had asked for a list of songs prior so that he could get an idea of what music we liked & what songs we had to hear. He did a great job at piecing it all together. He also asked for a timeline/flow (what songs to play for the major events-so the ceremony / first dances, etc). The only minor hiccup with the music was during the ceremony. The groomsmen came down from the hayloft to line up in front of the barn and the bridal party was to start walking down the aisle from the back after they were lined up. The entire wedding party was supposed to be coming in to the same song, but after the groomsmen lined up the song switched to the one that I was going to walk down the aisle with my dad to. It wasn't a huge deal as the song was long enough to accompany all of us. I also take partial responsibility for this as my husband and I were extremely relaxed about the wedding-including planning/rehearsing/instructing (there wasn't even a rehearsal haha). So essentially if we had wanted to quickly run through it with Thomas before I'm sure that wouldn't have happened. Obviously no one other than the bridal party knew the difference and it all flowed just fine. Plus-along the same lines of us being perhaps a bit too relaxed about the wedding-I had forgotten to write down the song that my husband and I were to dance to. However, after I told him what it was Thomas was able to quickly find the song & save that moment. All the other planned songs went by perfectly & he was a huge help with the timing and corralling. When the time we planned to close the dance floor came, he found my husband and I and asked if he wanted us to play the song we had listed for our 'closing' song or if we wanted him to stay longer. He was already there for 5+ hours and offered to stay longer! We were so appreciative but also exhausted so we just opted for our original plan. In summary of my novel-long review, Thomas was awesome. He did such a great job and was a pleasure to work with. My cousin-in-law texted me the next week and asked for his information since she is recently engaged and wanted to know his information for her wedding. Thomas was just visible enough to the guests that everyone recognized how great of a job he did (and said they wanted to hire him if they ever needed a DJ), but still remained low key enough to let the guests focus on the party. When we were speaking about logistics he said he could be as involved or quiet as we wanted and again he found a great balance. I can't say enough great things about his services. We really didn't give him much to go off of & he was able to make it seem like we spent hours planning it with him or like we knew each other for years and that's how he was able to have such a handle on the music and energy.
