I didn't understand what a healer was until I met Marwan. After my massage, I felt like I could breathe again for the first time in a long time and it was like he took off the yoke of chronic pain I've been carrying for a while. Every massage before this felt like a waste of money. I'm so happy I spontaneously decided to treat myself to a birthday massage and got to meet Marwan. Before we started, Marwan spent time getting to know me and how I felt that day and how I wanted to feel after the massage. I've never had a massage therapist do this before. He listened intently and was very proactive in assuring me his studio was a safe space and encouraged me to speak up about my needs. It meant a lot to me given I'm usually someone who always gives but struggles in asking for help. I recently had a massage by Marwan, and wow, it revitalized me! I had a baby in December, so with that, comes very interrupted sleep, all over aches (especially in my back and neck), and just not a lot of self-care. I am so glad I booked an in-home massage with Marwan. So, so glad. I have had a stressful past few months. I used to have massages fairly regularly, once or twice a month, to release tension and muscle soreness acquired during my figure skating training. But I haven't had a massage since the pandemic until this one and was initially worried about inviting someone into my home. I'm also transgender so safety is another concern. Reviews of Marwan's massage work were already encouraging me to give him a try by the time I started reading through his website. I filled out the new client form which inquired about COVID vaccine status and also asked clients for their pronouns (giving he/him, she/her, and they/them as options). This helped put me at ease before I even met him that Marwan was likely someone conscientious of public health and aware that he might have some queer clients who aren't comfortable with binary pronouns. I scheduled an appointment online. Marwan and I conversed a little via email on the days leading up to my appointment, mostly about how to find my home and other logistical information. Marwan arrived right on time, eyes smiling (that was all I could see since he was wearing a mask). He'd texted the day before to ask if we could meet 30 minutes early so we could talk prior to my session, and that turned out to be a really great opportunity to get to know more about Marwan and his massage methodology and practice, as well as for him to get to learn about me and what I was hoping to get out of the session. When it came time for me to get onto the table, Marwan excused himself to the bathroom so I had privacy while removing my clothes. I let him know when I was ready and he returned. Nice and simple. Marwan encouraged me to be vocal during the session, to let him know if I needed more or less pressure, if something hurt that he should move away from, and tell him about areas that were tender. I'm not super accustomed to talking much during my massages, but he has such an inviting personality that it felt more conversational than clinical. He also made a note of areas that felt especially tight, locked, or inflexible and reminded me to breathe deeply throughout, which I appreciated. He used coconut oil infused with lavender (the latter of which I'd noted was my favorite fragrance on his questionnaire) and brought his own speaker to play calming music. I'd double checked beforehand that he was amenable to cats (he said he actually loves them ... whew!), but my partner still sequestered the needier one into a room during my massage to avoid interruptions. After our session, Marwan returned to the bathroom to wash his hands while I got back into my clothing. He said he'd send me some exercise recommendations so I could continue working on my muscles in between massage sessions (which he did a couple of days later), packed up, and I paid him (according to his website, he accepts cash or Venmo, and I paid in cash). This review is overdue. I had a massage with Marian a few weeks ago when I was in the midst of an acute lower back muscle spasm. First off, Marwan has a very good understanding of muscle anatomy and was able to locate and treat the exact spot of pain - something I've found other massage therapists have a difficult time finding. Secondly, he has a great massage space. I really liked it that it was in the warm side as I tend to get a bit cold. I booked an appointment today for 10:00 am. I requested mobile service because it was an option. I end up getting a text that he didn't have a car to come to me but 5 would be a better time. I then ask could I come into the office instead and he said No One is available. If no one is available why have that time slot open? A simple block the schedule for whatever time or day no one is available to work would suffice. Thankfully I found a place in Castro Valley that was able to accommodate me. I saw Marwan for first time for 1.5hr massage. He gave me some extra time to find out if I had any muscle groups I felt pain with or if I had stress going on. I asked for medium pressure, got medium pressure. Great technique. Integrating relaxing and physical therapy. He's just different. It was both relaxing and he focused on areas that were tense or tight. Really great attitude. I've had the whole range of massages in terms of quality and I'd say he's high end. Marwan is excellent at his work, and also opens up a good line of communication where you feel reassured to let him know if the pressure is too great or there is any pain. Marwin is amazing! I had a massage with him because I had been having a lot of tightness and pain in my upper back. When this happens to me, if I don't take care of it, I usually start to get migraines. Nothing I did on my own worked. I found Marwin on yelp and his reviews were so great I contacted him. Do yourself a favor and get yourself on Marwan's table ASAP!!! Marwan was the fourth (and by far the best!) person to work on me in the span of 2 weeks, when my body was at the height of a physical and emotional crisis. A friend had recently experienced his healing hands and referred me to him. I had a moment of being nervous I was in the wrong place, but from the moment I interacted with neighbors who happened to be outside, and entered Marwan's garden space, I felt the tension start to dissipate. He has such an oasis! I'm a gardener and had a physically demanding spring, work my body very hard, and had a few different areas that were in pain. I love that he took the extra time to understand my goals, what was going on in my body, and to talk about his methods. While this is fairly typical, I felt an extra level of care coming through Marwan during this intake process. On the table, I loved the way he continued to check in throughout the massage about pressure, and helped me work with my breath to connect with what was going on in my body, and to deepen my relaxation. He even identified an area of chronic tension I hadn't mentioned (because I had more acute things going on and I'd sort of given up on anyone getting to the core of that area). I also felt areas of emotional tension melting away, which is not typical during most massages I've received. I left his table feeling like I was on a cloud! He also gave me some tips for self care to help my area of chronic tension.
