Strike 2: Now, we find out that the reason they haven't called to confirm the service and schedule a new cleaning is that they LOST OUR KEYS including a security key FOB. Strike 3: Jodie claims she has been looking for our key for 2 weeks, but noone took notes on our visit so noone knows where the keys or FOB are. Perhaps this is an excuse for ignoring our email and telling us she will call us back then not doing so? Don't waste your time and money on this company, they are liars who have no accountability.

Not Worth The Headache…read more We hired UMA because we were looking for a licensed, bonded, and insured cleaning service that we could trust with our apartment while we are at work. At first things seemed good. Jodie responded to my first email right away and we chose UMA over some other cleaners in the area because of her availability. However, we soon found out that we must have caught Jodie on a good day, because every other time we tried to communicate with the home office it was like talking to a brick wall. My follow-up emails were never answered. My phone calls were not returned. And when you do get Jodie on the phone you can tell she is overwhelmed. She keeps no records of who was in your house and her scheduling is poor. The cleaners who came to our place showed up 2 hours BEFORE the 2 hour window Jodie instructed me to give them. When my girlfriend explained that we were not there to let them in, they were very rude to her. She could even hear one of them complaining about her in the background. I realize that it was 1pm on a Friday, but why should we feel bad that you want to skip out early and start your weekend? The cleaners who came did a great job on our apartment. That's why I gave UMA two stars. But everything else that comes with UMA is too much to make up for a good cleaning job.

First, the cleaners arrived three hours late--a job ran over, then they got lost. (I had given her the address of the complex when I booked the cleaning and she assured me she was familiar with it, but apparently not). Wouldn't have known any of this had I not called and texted to find out where they were. When they arrived in the early afternoon, The owner quoted us a final price and took payment before leaving for another job, and the other person stayed to "clean" our 2 bed (only one being cleaned though), 2 bath apartment. "Clean" is in air quotes because Cleaner #1 didn't do much during their four hours beyond clear the counters off, unplug the cable box from the TV, sweep the kitchen and living room, mop one of the bathrooms and take a long smoke break. The cleaner took a second smoke break at around the 4 hour mark and said the owner would be meeting him downstairs because he had left his cell phone in her car. 45 minutes later the owner returned, and stuck around for about 3 hours to finish the job (Per the owner Cleaner #1 went to get a drink and we never saw him again). I'll give the owner this--she is a hard worker and was pretty clearly trying to salvage the situation. (it's the only reason this is a two star review). She accomplished several times more than cleaner #1 in a little less time. However, in the interests of triage (we were most concerned about the kitchen) we asked her to emphasize cleaning the oven, microwave, and fronts of cabinets above the microwave when we saw how long it was taking, as the stove had a lot of grease buildup. She did a good job on the interiors of both appliances, but left a lot of grease on the fronts of them. I re-cleaned them both this morning, and did a better job in 15 minutes than their combined 8 hours. Long story short, I don't wish them ill, and we may well have caught them on an off day, but we won't be taking her up on her offer of ongoing cleaning. If you want to take a chance on them, I recommend doing so in a low stakes situation (not right before a party or house guests), on a day you have a flexible schedule, and to be very clear on what your top priorities are in the event they run out of time. If I were to do it again I would have told them at the start to just do the kitchen and baths and ignore the rest of the house, given they were already 3 hours late and the rest of the place was reasonably tidy. To the owner: At a minimum, I'd recommend having a performance conversation with cleaner #1. We got the sense he may have created a lot of unnecessary stress for you yesterday, and as a manager myself you deserve better.

Around 10:15, no one showed up so I called to see if she is having trouble finding the house.... no response. I called around 11, still no response. I am very disappointed in the business. There are all these rave reviews and no one showed up. Finally around 12:15, I finally get a text that there was a family emergency. It would have been no big deal if she had to cancel because of an emergency. I understand since stuff happens but it would have showed some kind of sincerity if she told me at the appointed time or before that she couldn't make it. The initial consulting fee was reasonable and the consult was very helpful in fully discussing the scope of work. Without it, I realized that my project questionnaire through Yelp added way more work than I wanted/needed and it would've costed me a ton more. They came in for a full 8 hours and did an AMAZING job throughout the house, even getting to the ledges on the high windows and chandelier at the front of my home. They requested I come in to inspect the final product as they were wrapping up and to ensure they got all the spots I expected. I made one very minor recommendation at that point and they addressed it immediately. The house has not looked this immaculate in years.
