I go to this gym and it's clean and the early morning staff is friendly. It is close to the university and can get quite busy.

I've been to several GoodLife's in Toronto, and thought that the one Downtown (informally known as the flagship) would be as good as it gets, at least in terms of amenities. But this gym in Waterloo beats them all! It's absolutely huge with two floors and a women's area (separately equipped with several squat racks). Classes are numerous and varied - they also offer hot yoga. Best of all, I'm not sure if it's because I always go in the morning, but the place is NEVER CROWDED. After my first time here, I was so surprised at the emptiness of the gym that I asked the girl at the front if this was a one-off thing, and she told me that no, this was actually considered "pretty busy". Well, guess I can't complain :) The service here is also exceptional - the staff members are so friendly and nice! You would certainly never be greeted going out the door and told to have a nice day at a GoodLife downtown! read more

I've been to this Goodlife Fitness in Waterloo a few times and found the front desk is always friendly and professional. I spoke to the Manager, Louise (the Irish lass :-)), and then I understood why they are always so nice and good. She is delightful and does your business well. Thank you! This location is a true 24/7 though typically with more limited hours on holidays. I joined Goodlife I think in 2003, but this is currently my home gym. The equipment is pretty new. The co-ed gym replaced a really crappy but long established gym on Columbia in 2008 - so everything is pretty new. Where I'd dock them marks is that it gets ridiculously busy during busy periods and the weight area upstairs gets pretty crowded. The density in general of the equipment seems to be higher than the Kitchener gyms. They are probably least busy right after 1.30 pm and after 10pm. A warning about working out later in the afternoon especially during rush hour is that it gets warmer in the weight area which is upstairs and it exudes the pleasant odor of humanity (body odor/sweat). Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with the fact they're open all the time and they don't completely close down the changerooms to clean them (like they did at the old one). Their spin class room also doesn't seem to get enough ventilation sometimes and is often full. Apparently they have also recently taken over the space next door which used to be an Office Depot so with any luck they will be expanding their co-ed facilities. Another big plus over their previous facilities is individual showers. I don't really borrow movies anymore, but I know that when I worked out at the gyms in Kitchener with other workout buddies, but a nice service they brought in a few years ago was free DVD rentals - where you have to return it within 2 days or else pay a fine which brought me back to work out pretty consistently. I notice though that the Waterloo location has always charged $1 for the rentals. read more

I love this gym. It has everything you want and need. Machines are always available despite it being busy during peak hours. The number of cardio and workout equipment is enough to never have to wait. The layout is spacious, which includes the luxurious locker rooms and the gym is overall clean. Coming from downtown Toronto, there really is no comparison. Massage chairs are a bonus! read more

No matter what your fitness goals, this is a great gym. The staff is friendly, the change rooms are clean (And sauna- equipped, with individual showers) and the equipment is modern and well maintained. There's also squash courts, group cardio sessions and group yoga if that's what you're into. The weight room area is constantly organized by staff and the machines, benches and free weights are always kept in great condition. The cardio equipment is also very good, and although during peak hours its not uncommon to have to wait 5 minutes for a treadmill, there's so many bikes, elliptical machines and steppers that if you're really in a rush, there's always going to be something free. The only downside to the gym, which doesn't take away from its quality (As its not the gym's fault), is the variety of old men and squash players that enjoy having jolly conversations with their manhood hanging in the change rooms, and just enjoy walking around with "that" flappin' around (As if towels hadn't been invented). Other than those disgusting specimens that do frequent the gym (And most other gyms that have showers), its a great place to train and get that blood flowing. There's many other services offered at goodlife such as personal training, but I personally don't have any experience with that so there's nothing I can say in regards to that. read more

Brand new in 2009, this gym is very nice and one I am QUITE happy to work out in while I'm visiting Waterloo. Things I LOVE about this location: 1. The lockers in the change room are MASSIVE and the change rooms themselves are very clean and well laid out. 2. Almost all of the equipment on the co-ed side is quite new. 3. They have the biggest women only section of any Goodlife I've been to so far (complete with women only fitness classes). 4. They have squash courts and massage chairs. 5. There is ample parking. 6. The staff are always cheerful and friendly. The con is the low ceilings on the co-ed side where the cardio machines are which makes it feel a bit crowded and I guess if I'm being picky, a few more windows would be nice. Oh ya, and they have movie rentals for $1. It's a nice little perk. Overall top marks for this Goodlife Fitness location. read more

This is my main good life right now. They have everything I need and I can usually get equipment even during busy periods. There are quite a few annoying meatheads that walk around with shirts cut up so much they're basically wearing spaghetti straps tho. My only knock against them is on the staff. They are disinterested and always texting when you enter and leave. I asked to change a channel once and had to go through three staff members until I found one that knew how to change them. You think front desk staff would be trained on that. One thing I love about this gym is that there is rarely the usual good life Membership salesperson standing at the front counter acosting you for phone numbers of your friends (I don't know why good life does this, it's a horrible business practice), so that is a plus. I wish rules were enforced here. They seem to have no issue with people getting chalk all over everything and dropping barbells constantly. There have also been quite a few times I've seen people walking around the gym working out in flip flops and and just socks. That's disgusting but the staff do not care. They should get a lower rating due to their poor staff but I can often get ll the equipment I need and get a good workout so three stars. read more

The gym is okay and never too crowded, but I have a real problem with the manager, who is a paranoid control freak. When visiting the club the last two times in Waterloo, she runs after you shrieking at you if you dare go near her office, then stares at you as you do your workout, and rushes around always looking at you out of the corner of her eye. As large as the club is with excellent adequate equipment, I plan on using one of the other clubs in the region, as I feel more welcome there and not like a criminal! read more

Best gym ever! It is monstrous in size, exceptionally clean, and there is a good variety of equipment on both levels. It is never really too busy; but even during peak times I have always been able to use my desired equipment without waiting. They often have doubles of popular ones. The cancellation process was also quick and hassle free. I will miss this wonderful gym! read more

A friend recommended me and my boyfriend to try Goodlife because they are now having a free 3-day trial promotion. When I got there, the employee who was assisting us told me one of his colleagues recognized us, and claimed that we have signed up for the trial before. It was the first time both of us ever went to Goodlife Fitness, but they wouldn't believe us so they charged us $30 for day pass to work out there. We later contacted the manager and asked them to check the record to prove that it's our first time being there, but he told us that they dont have any record. That's just ridculous. read more

A friend and I are totally going to join a fitness club in this area. We contacted GoodLife to arrange a 7 day pass. The first date did not work, so we let "Lisa" (the coordinator) know. Unfortunately, a Doctor's appointment was scheduled at the same time as the next appointment. This time we waited and waited and never did hear back from Lisa. Guess GoodLife does not need our business!!! Very disappointing! read more

Have really liked this gym- it feels laid back but still has great services and equipment/classes. No issues!
