Arrived before closing on a Saturday and found more than half of the stores already closed. What a sad place.

We are really enjoying our first extended time in Canada. We are here in our motorhome escaping…read morethe Texas heat. We met a young lady in Grand Marais, MN who recommended that we visit the Cheese Farm during our 5 day stay near Thunder Bay. We walked in and were the only customers in the store. There was a table at the front window where 5 or 6 people were seated and later discovered they were employees, one of which was the cashier. As we entered, not a word was said to us and there was zero eye contact. We were told, plus everything we have read indicated that you could sample the various cheeses. As I said, no one spoke to us and certainly didn't offer us samples. We continued looking around and another person walked in and he was greeted...granted they appeared to know him. Still no words to us or eye contact. Long story short, we decided to buy a package of the regular cheese curds. I stood at the counter and finally a young woman at the table stood and I asked if we paid her. Still no pleasantries. As I walked out, I realized that our car's Texas license plates were in plain view of those seated at the window. There is no doubt in my mind that we were snubbed because of the Texas plates. I'm not sure if we were snubbed as Americans or snubbed as Texans, or both. For the record, we are always pleasant people. I must add that this has been the exception. All restaurants, pubs, and businesses we have entered have been a very pleasant experience. Needless to say, we will never go back to the Cheese Farm. Oh, the cheese curds are delicious.

When you arrive, you walk into a store front, and they have all kinds of samples of different types of fresh gouda cheese. And the prices are amazing!! You can purchase most of the whole kilos of Gouda for $21. In Cowtown where I am living, $21 only buys you a few selections of a couple different OUNCES. The Cheese Farm is amazing bang for your buck and the cheese is so good it'll keep you coming back.
