This is both a Goodwill store and career center. It appears this location may not be around for long since apparently they're getting a brand new store on October 26 2026. It's hard to get a parking spot here because of the career center. This is one of their smaller format stores where 3/4 of the space is given over to clothing and all the merchandise and housewares are featured on short aisles towards the rear. The store itself is really cluttered and all the shoes and knickknacks are piled on top of the clothing racks. The reason for two stars is that they will not let you use the bathroom here. We were told we had to walk across the bridge and use the McDonald's. Not my favorite Goodwill, nor did we find anything worthwhile read more

I love coming here after work. I almost always find some items I like. Recently I went there after work and found a ton of skirts for the office, all nice brands and good quality. I do feel like some of the clothes is not tagged correctly in size, but I completely understand that that can just be blamed on the clothing industry not correctly sizing items. The staff are very nice, and the store has a lot of inventory, and new items often. Parking is easy as well, and in a nice area with a lot around it. read more

This was my first time here at this Goodwill. Mind you I love thrift thing. The store was a little on the small size. The only problem was not with the merchandises, but with the cashier that attended me, he was very rude. After he rung up all of my stuff, he asked if I wanted to donate to help the disability people and I said no so he proceeded with payment and I paid and he didn't even have the audacity to fold my clothes or hand me my receipt. All he said was there's your receipt. Have a good day. And I had to pretty much gather in a bunch my clothes and stepped to the side to fold it so I could carry it in my hands. Every single parking spot in the Goodwill lot was occupied (as was the lot in the next but connected shopping center) on Monday 1/2. I guess the whole town of Arlington was off work and was at Goodwill donating. I came to donate a few bags of household stuff and wanted to see if the store had a few items I needed. However, I didn't get to go inside at all, just interacted with the donation attendants outside (and donate, at least). It took a couple minutes in line waiting for others to get done. The donation attendant was friendly and helpful. The way that some cars are allowed to parked, you cannot exit (as an in-store customer or as an in-car donor) unless you go through the donation line that wraps around the building and wait until all the previous donors have donated, so when I went around the second time to park, I had to reenter the donation line. Terrible layout! I would not return to this location. Several other Goodwill locations in the northern Virginia area do not have this problem. read more

Also, this handbag is fake, how are you selling a fake bag for that price? manager and management has lots touch with the real purpose of Goodwill. I heard a lot of employees at that store saying that the pricing is due to the new resellers that get merchandise. However, Even if that's a problem, why does Goodwill cares? On every recent trip I've found some gems in the store and the racks themselves have been tidy, which is no easy feat for the staff. The checkout layout with a clear queue is better than many other Goodwill locations, where it's unclear how people should get in line to pay. Bad experience here leaving the parking lot as an employee decided to yell at me. They need a sign labeling where they want people to exit, because if you follow the arrows, it looks like a dead-end in the back. I LOVE Goodwill, and especially the locations in Arlington. The staff was helpful, and I most of all I left the place with fabulous finds!! Mismatched mugs of beautiful colors, lots of good quality pyrex and Corningware dishes, small and big, and greta pillows and abstract art for our guest room. The restrooms and shopping areas were very clean and well kept. The supervisors or managers interaction with some of the junior employees was impressive. He was patient and respectful of his employees and I felt that he should be recognized for his service. The selection of items in this store is very good. I hate coming here and I hate supporting goodwill, but in the DC area there's not a lot of options for donating old items. The store itself has nothing useful in it, just the standard odds and ends Goodwill decides to re-sell. I've tried to find things there on numerous occasions but I suggest you just go to another location or antique shop or something--just not here. We usually just drive up with our stuff to drop off. The people working outside aren't very nice, the line to drop off is always way too long, and there's trash strewn about everywhere. Truly the worst goodwill in the DC area. I went and attempted to purchase a sweater but was stopped because there wasn't a tag. After asking if I could pay the maximum price, wait a few hours, put the item on hold or do anything to get it, the cashier rudely laughed at me and said "that's illegal". Certainly not illegal. I understand goodwill is a thrift store, but there is no reason for employees to treat customers any differently than they would at a target or other clothes store. This place leaves you feeling violated because they have turned a "donations" center into a "dumpster". The workers literally throw or toss your gently-used donations made in good faith, onto bottomless heaps of "stuff". This place makes a mockery of giving perfectly usable donations for someone else to re-use, by acting as a "smash and trash" intermediary. Dinner plates and porcelain cups neatly packaged into boxes are carelessly thrown. I've seen a computer printer be flung. Shoes? You may take a few pairs, but they will end up as odd shoes missing their pairs after they are tossed into jumbled-up bins. The drinking glasses I packed into strong liquor store boxes with dividers must have cracked after those men tossed them (mind you, this is after I looked them in the eye and told them it was a fragile box of dishware and glasses!), This operation desecrates the concept of donation for someone else's re-use. With the lackadaisical and rough mishandling of donations, it sets up a culture of "donation" that basically offers a way to "dump" with a veneer of charity. If you are simply looking for a way to get rid of your stuff and want to feel like you have "donated it", without giving a second thought to it, then you will feel at home here. (See below for alternative places to donate items for re-use.) I couldn't feel worse about this place, especially from the way I have watched my well-intentioned "re-use" items be mishandled here. The workers here are clearly not enthused by their job. Friends have advised me that the Annandale Goodwill store is much better because they handle donations with care and with grace...as if the things will be repackaged and sold for charity. Since I've been coming here for over a decade, I have investigated alternative Arlington-based options for bonafide, well-intentioned donations that you too might be interested in: Freecycle-DC (online); Online Yard Sales (Arlington/Falls Church); The Columbia Pike Thrift Store (run in a very organized manner by middle aged ladies who are wholeheartedly invested in a re-use and charity economy), No One Left Behind (a military-affiliated organization), and Homestretch (Falls Church) Any of the above beats seeing your perfectly good donations be mishandled and roughly thrown onto a heap which may, or may not, ever be sorted out and end up with people who might viably still use it. Let me not even get started on their disorganized car park, where you will have a cluster of at least 20 cars idling on a hot day (in a "line") creating noxious levels of air pollution and carbon emissions. I thought thrift stores are places you go to find bargains. Goodwill has changed. A lot of the things here are over priced and comparable to retail prices. I thought goodwill gets donations so to see these prices was alarming. "High end" items were behind the counter inaccessible and when you ask for help, it takes a long time for anyone to show up and they seem unhappy to be working there. This is one of the worst Goodwill locations in the area--it's located at the intersection of Glebe and 50, right off the exit. If you come on the weekend there is a steady line of cars extending to the road waiting to drop off/donate items. That makes parking a pain--people are arriving and leaving but with the cars waiting to donate it's slow-moving. Even getting out of this location is tricky in particular if a car is trying to turn left out onto Glebe. This may be an okay option during the week with less traffic. The store itself is clean and well-organized but I wouldn't say it's well-stocked. It's a decent size but walking through it had nothing exciting and just the general type of things you'd expect to be donated. There are better locations in the immediate vicinity. If you don't want to deal with the donation queue then you're better off with Purple Heart of an organization that will come to you to pick up items. read more

I regularly donate to this location. All the donate items are in great condition for resale. Today was my last time I donate to Goodwill period! I had a container with mix items, the attendant was extremely rude, was just standing and not offered any help ( I am handicap) to the contrary he directed me to the far away container want me to dump the books there and the rest of the items on different bins. There was a bin for MIX ITEMS but he wanted me to assorted the items there. Was also a long line. What is the purpose of a mix donation bin you get reprimanded by an attendant? The two employees - 1 bald with glasses the other 1 rude were so verbally aggressive It makes NO sense why two adult men would speak so aggressively to anyone The harassment from these two people makes me think they can't be fired. Also, I asked for both their names and they refused, the assistant manager didn't give me the name of anyone, I didn't get a single contact person. These are people who can't be trusted. Something very suspicious is going on here because no one is willing to give you information. I will never come here again because I know managemnet is not taking accountability and this if something were to happen you're situation might just go unnoticed. They won't fire this person and I rather throw away my shit in the trash than to have to talk to people who hate their life so much they can't stand to be around people for 5 seconds in the time it takes to drop things off for donation. I'm pretty sure all the reviews related to how horrible experiences have been taken place are all from the same person but there is something unethical going on because no one is taking accountability. Do not come here it's potentially dangerous. The manager better not reply to this review with apologies - I want that guy fired if you have any respect for the constituents that give you their FREE things youll remove a person that is clearly costing you so much business. I would consider myself someone who isn't materialistic, but this goes out the window as soon as I see that cute dress with the tags still on it or the vintage jewelry that is in the glass case when you first enter and occasionally a good pair of barely used shoes. That's the benefit of shopping at one of the Arlington location. People barely use their items before getting rid of it so I can get my hands on them. This location has great finds and the staff is very polite. Note: if you're trying to donate please call before coming out. They tend to only take items for a while and then stop for weeks. Very easy to donate items. Check their website before you go since they don't accept everything. I went with a couple of huge bags of clothes and they had a semi parked in their parking lot with a bunch of volunteers. They took them from me and loaded them directly in the back and gave me a blank receipt. Wow, that was easy! Wandered inside and found a dollar store vibe, and about the same sorts of treasures. Most of the electronics are very old and dirty. Furniture is the same. While ikea is now junk, it at least doesn't look like junk when you first buy it. I had inquired to my friend how much I loved the decor of her place and she credited this Goodwill as her main source. I decided to check it out last week and ended up getting a lot more than I had planned. I found a working 42" tv for $69.99. Great deal! They had a pretty good selection of furnitures, clothing, shoes. It's great! I definitely feel like the items put out are well selected and in good (if not great) condition. I also got a barely used French Connection spring jacket, a nice Banana Republic dress for the office, a nice sized wicker basket to put rolled towels in, and a set of two ice trays. If you're new to the area whether for work or school and need household items, I would definitely check it out. It is Disorganized, the Staff has NO idea what's going on, and the management ever since Zach left has been on a downward Spiral! I used to go there a lot until Kristen insulted me personally at the cash register and had the nerve to ask me to round up afterwards.
