I love shopping at Goodwills ! I live a bit further north so I do not get to this location often but was very pleased with my trip there today . The store is large and well organized and I found everyone there very friendly . I found one employee that in my mind went above and beyond . Vern was my cashier and he was so helpful and friendly ! I bought a lot of art glass , pottery and dishes and he was so efficient at packing it all ... he reinforced a box for it all ... informed me that there was a special going on and that some of my items were discounted ... and even through a computer glitch at checkout he never lost his great smile or sense of humor. I will make an effort to get to this location more often. read more

The selection is decent but the aisles are so small you can barely fit one cart . Really hard to shop here especially when it's busy to maneuver around. Seems like if they fixed the setup they could carry more items . The store wasn't as full as expected. They also have signs on the dressing rooms to only bring 5 items but people had more then 10/15 and so the wait for the dressing rooms are really long . read more

Terrible customer service. I drive 30 minutes to drop off some donation items and while in line they said they were no longer taking donations because the clock struck 5:00PM. The staff were very short and rude. Needless to say I'll never come back to this location. The kicker was I was only dropping off a bicycle. read more

A good place to give in Dale city According to their website, Goodwill is, "American nonprofit provider of job training, employment placement, and other community services, funded by a network of retail thrift stores. As of 2021, they had over 4200 stores in the United States. A family member was cleaning out their house and wanted to donate so I found this site. It is in a strip of stores on the northeast corner of Dale Hwy and Gideon Drive. It is at the end of the line of stores with an open parking lot fronting all the stores. The inside of the store is fairly large. Items are laid out for easy viewing and access. It was fairly clean. If you are giving items to them, they are very accommodating with carts outside by the curb. When I arrived, there was a staff member who helped me to unload curbside onto the carts. He was very helpful and friendly and even told me some of the items that they could not take. If you need a receipt, just tell the staff and they will get you one for your donation. Overall, it was one of the easiest donation experiences that I have had with any Goodwill location. read more

I have enjoyed shopping this Goodwill with my daughter because it is large and there is a lot of items to sift through and this is something we do together for fun quality time. However, I was surprised to find that the prices at this particular Goodwill are much higher than the other Greater Washington Stores. Which seems a bit excessive, especially with the recent press regarding the income of many associates sitting in high positions at Goodwill. I'd prefer to shop at true nonprofits, but there aren't many in this area. Additionally, my first experience there left much to be desired. The associate checking me out was very rude and acted as if it was my fault she hated her job. Bottom line: You'll find some great items here, but they come at a higher cost, and don't expect a friendly interaction with employees. read more

Probably 4 1/2 stars... really like shopping here. If they shut down their dressing rooms like many other thrift shops, they'll lose half my stars. The shop is larger than many other Goodwills in the area. They got rid off the pricey "boutique " section thankfully. If you're a rewards member and an item is the color of the day or week or whatever, you'll get it practically for free. One thing I don't like is the shoe section, which is organized by color rather than size... horribly frustrating and a waste of time. But yeah, my go-to thrift shop. read more

Slow cashiers literally every time I go. The old ones need a different position other then that everyone else n everything is cool.

Nice big store with a selection of goodies but the staff are rude, they act like it's a chore to do their jobs and wait on customers. Some of them also seem to resent waiting on white customers. But my biggest grief is with their damn price stickers; is there any reason they have to be backed with Super Glue??? They are impossible to scrape off in one piece and if you manage to get it off, it leaves a residue that permanently stains anything that's not impermeable like glass or polished stainless steel. I had a nice little lacquered box with abalone shell inlay. Peeling off the sticker, it pulled the inlay right out of it's groove. And when i tried to remove the glue residue it actually removed the lacquer. It's like that commercial where the guy applies a sealant and makes a boat!!! read more

This is one of my favorite Goodwill's! So I am not sure why the reviews for this place are so low. Its a bit out of the way for me since it is in Dale city, but when I am up for the drive, this place never disappointments! I've been fortunate enough to not experience the store at a busy time, so luck seems to work in my favor there! It is well organized, friendly staff, I can understand their announcements on the loud speaker of the sales they are running, and cleanly fitting rooms to accommodate! Let me start off by saying how rude two of their employees this morning were. Literally dropping off 3 bags and it's free items the fact that the two employees made a huge deal that they don't accept drop offs and then decided to make faces and talk slick to not only me but to another man as well. Always clean and organized. I've found a lot of good clothes and jewelry in great condition here. Service is easy, the clerks are nice and the dressing rooms are always clean. I've also donated and a simple drop off in front is convenient. They come to your car and give you a tax write off sheet. read more

I stopped shopping at goodwill, because everytime I go in there one of the cashiers constantly adds items to my bill, or if items are stacked in color tag order to make things easier for this person this person grabs randomly constantly missing the color of tag and over charges. Every single transaction has had to have a manager adjust. I have spoken to management before and they are even aware of who I am talking about before giving them details of this particular person. Goodwill prices are already getting to high and getting overcharged further is just unacceptable.. never again. read more

The place is nice but I do have one small issue. We have clothes that we no longer wear. So, prior to bringing the clothes to goodwill we typically take them to the dry cleaners before donating them. The problem we have encountered is that they (one woman) there refuses to accept any clothes on hangers even if she can tell they were just dry cleaned, and still in the cleaners plastic (which we remove while there). The clothes are eventually put on hangers anyway so I don't get the issue. Do they not want us to clean the clothes first? If not, I could just as easy ball them up and throw them in a bag. read more

I'm new to this area and love thrift stores. I haven't found a ton of great places yet, but this one isn't too bad. I just have to really hunt. I've found a few treasures here, and other items that I liked but passed on. Sadly, I agree with most other reviewers. The prices are a little high for second hand items. Some of the awesome finds I have come across were new, unused Yankee Candles. Gently used business clothes (I've gotten a lot of compliments on my vintage heels, wrap dresses and silk shirts. I even found a brand new pair of unworn Birkenstocks!), coffee makers and a dining table. The table was a conversion table that was displayed as a two person table, but after asking from help from the staff to unfold it, it ended up seating six. (The staff was a little surprised that it could do that.) My heart jumped at the opportunity. I had been eyeing tables like this for a few weeks. It had minor wear and tear, a few Knicks or scratches here, but it was cleaned up and looking great in no time. Matched with chairs from Ikea, it looks like a full set. Like I said, be a little picky and you can find some great stuff. read more

It's like treasure hunting...u never know what u may find. I love browsing and finding good deals. This goodwill is pretty big and its clean. I will definitely be back especially since Tuesdays are 50% off clothing and furniture. Not sure how long that sale will last but u can't beat that sale. read more

I Brought a $25 item to the register to hold while I continued to shop. Upon my return the cashier informed me that the manager had taken the price card off. I am not new to thrift store shopping and I'm really surprised at all of the comments about the high prices at this location. I think people are really looking for "free" items. I find this Goodwill prices on clothing and wares very reasonable to be quite honest. I visit several retail stores and this one is the best. The store is always very organized compared to the salvation army, village thrift and others too long to mention. The store is always clean and organized and I am able to find items easily. The staff has been extremely helpful. I will continue to recommend this store to my friends and family. I suggest that others check the store out for themselves, I am sure you will not be disappointed. read more

I did not really like the selection here. I also thought it was expensive compared to how goodwill used to be. It was very spacious, but some of the items did not look like they should have made it past inspection. A lot of the CDs and DVDs weren't in the cases or were in the wrong cases. I have donated here in the past and like that they come out to help you, but I don't like how they want you to stay in the car. The idea of someone rummaging around in my trunk when I can't see them and having to explain which items I want them to take and which I don't is a little annoying. I get out and look anyway. Been to a lot of Goodwill stores and this is one of my favorite stores. Store is big and they have nice items to choose from.

I enjoyed shopping at this goodwill. I use to only donate but last week I was given a coupon for donating my items from a donation person and decided to stop in and boy was I surprised to find so many name brand items. I walked out of the store with a good bargain and big bag. read more

I picked up several glass items here for a wedding. They have a good selection of home decor and kitchen stuff. The two ladies that helped me at the counter wrapped everything up nicely so it wouldn't break. They were very cheerful, friendly, and helpful, and I'll definitely be checking in again to see if there is anything else I can use for the big day. read more

Problem 1: I purchased a board game from this store on 9/3. The game was taped shut so I assumed all pieces were there and they taped it to keep people from opening the game/spilling the contents. (Problem 2 was the assumption!). Problem 3: upon opening the game, there was no board or instructions (a board game w/o a board? Seriously, why are they selling it?). Problem 4: I returned to the store for a refund. They can see the game in my hand but don't say anything except I have to go wait in line (behind 4 customers with baskets of items). I wait in line and when I get to the register, they tell me, 'Sorry, we're not set up to return games.' WHAT? They can return clothing, electronics and household goods but not games, even if they are sold to you with missing items...like the actual board!! I was told that I should have untaped the box and looked! I guess it's buyer beware even at a thrift store. I won't be donating or buying from Goodwill EVER again...and all because of $6. I work at a preschool and our kids are very hard on their books so they have to be replaced very often which can be costly if all bought new. I have recently started getting many of their books from this Goodwill. They have a great Children's Book section. It is very organized and always full, the books are recent, in FANTASTIC condition (almost new), and very well priced. read more

I moved furniture from my house in NC to Woodbridge, so I had to donate extra furniture. My first trip to the Goodwill Store, I had a pick-up load of nice furniture, which I'm sure will sell right away at good price. When I got to the place, I had to unload the furniture myself from my pick up truck. The person working there just stood there and did not help at all. The second trip I had a load of one roll-top desk and a coffee table and chairs. On the way to the place, it started sprinkling a little bit and the furniture got wet but not soaked. You can actually just get paper towel and wipe the moisture off. Anyway, the same guy and male worker there came out and told me they do not accept wet furniture. So we were turned away. We went to the other donation place nearby and they gladly took the furniture. Let me be clear that these items are in great condition and the only reason I'm donating is that I don't have room for them. This is the most ridiculous reason I have heard in refusing the donation. I think the only reason is that they're too lazy to take them off the pick up truck. Not sure what business are you guys in...I saw people drop off bags of "thrash" and they refuse good furniture??? Needless to say, not going back there and go to the the other place where it's okay to donate "wet" furniture. read more

Love this goodwill, very clean, organized and the sales associates are very nice and helpful, they even give fashion advice! They have a very big space for a thrift store but everything seems to have its place. The first time going in was a bit confusing none of the clothing is marked by price aside from the higher end stuff in the front of the store which has pink tags on it but All clothing has a set price by category and they do clothing discounts (25%) on Tuesdays. I love the fact that they have a military discount, 25% every Thursday which is the day I try to mainly go in! The associates are very sweet they greet you on your way in, tell you the sale of the day and help you with getting a cart when you hands are full. Also Very Wide selection of books and furniture in almost new condition. Bought a whole dinning room set for only $180 because furniture was on sale that day. Donating is easy you just pull up to the front of the store and honk and the associates help get everything out of your vehicle and give you a donation receipt and coupon! They have a room called the career center which makes me very happy to know my purchase is going towards a good cause in job training for the needy people that go to the classes.
