So we said ok and waited in the parking lot to wait until she was off of her lunch break, but she then interrupted her lunch break to come outside to tell us we couldn't stay in the parking lot while she was on her lunch break. Will donate somewhere else that is a bit friendlier. I'm all for employees getting lunch breaks, but that was really strange.

Second Life was an essential to me: I found Cole Hahn and AVL leather flats (almost unworn), numerous silk blouses (Marchesa Voyage, Annie Griffin), two silk skirts (one bespoke, the other from Anthropologie), dresses, jackets, a string of cultured pearls, Chicos and Eileen Fisher trousers - oh, and my last trip there, I actually scanned the books, and the selection is equally good there. Prices are higher than your average thrift, but, as you can see, so is the merchandise. It's always fair, and they run sales on the regular. I've been inspired to start putting aside some of my almost unworn or lightly worn clothes so that I can contribute to this community treasure, and keep the cycle going. This review is just for the donation center…read more The drop for the donation center is really fast and quick as long as there are just a few cars dropping off this and not a whole cars worth of stuff. They have a drive over bell that let's them know whe you arrive. You don't even have to get out of your car. I just popped my truck they grabbed the items in the back, closed it and I was off. This particular Goodwill was bright, pretty organized, and easy enough to navigate. The bulk of the space is filled with clothes, and there are non-wearable items in the back. The "womens" changing rooms are on the left, and the "mens" changing rooms are on the right, but feel free to use either one. Lots of the clothes didn't have that infamous secondhand smell, to my relief. They were arranged in a fashion that made sense (color, style, etc.). There were toys, sporting goods, DVD & records, furniture, kitchen supplies, and more. The book section was respectable too. Most things didn't have price tags, but you could just refer to posted signs about costs. The cashier was quite polite and efficient. I do wish the changing rooms were unlocked though since you have to press a button and wait for someone to come and open one up. Looks like not just any employee can open them up. The restrooms were clean and stocked. They're located in the back right corner of the store. This Goodwill is also in the same shopping center as the delightful Madras Mantra in case you want to pair thrifting with an Indian meal.

Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta was brilliant. In the process of moving, there were some bulky…read moreitems we were trying to get rid of without throwing away, and we were recommended the Furniture bank! We loaded up a U-haul and backed it right up to their drop off garage. Staff immediately came up and asked what we were delivering. We said the whole load and they proceeded to pull things off no questions asked. What we thought was cool is they take used mattresses. We asked and confirmed again if this was true before bringing it and yes, if you have a mattress, they will wrap it in a protective sealed layer, making a mattress that may have a few stains and such a viable mattress again for those in need. When speaking with staff, we found out their great cause. Taken from their website, their mission: "To recycle gently-used furniture by collecting it from the community and giving it to individuals and families moving out of homelessness and fleeing domestic violence, as well as countless others struggling to make ends meet." This entire charity is powered by volunteers who give their time to help their community, and when you look at all of the rows of furniture items that have been loaded by volunteers for people needing that extra help, it makes you (or it made us) feel much better about dropping the things off that we no longer needed. Just a note, we delivered because at the time we were told that delivery would be about 1 month out. If you have to be out relatively soon, give these guys a heads up much sooner in the moving process. Great group, great cause and if you live anywhere near the Atlanta area and have some furniture you're looking to get rid of, give the Furniture Bank a call!
