It's difficult to pick my favorite thing about this store: 1) the outstanding quality of the donated goods 2) the friendly neighborhood vibe 3) the helpful, resourceful staff. I started a new job this year, after years of working from home, my office wardrobe needed a serious refresh, but with the inflation of clothing prices I had to rely on buying second-hand. Once you are a Woman of a Certain Age, you can't get away with cheap and cheerful, plus, quality is better constructed, so the fit and wear is better. Second Life was an essential to me: I found Cole Hahn and AVL leather flats (almost unworn), numerous silk blouses (Marchesa Voyage, Annie Griffin), two silk skirts (one bespoke, the other from Anthropologie), dresses, jackets, a string of cultured pearls, Chicos and Eileen Fisher trousers - oh, and my last trip there, I actually scanned the books, and the selection is equally good there. Prices are higher than your average thrift, but, as you can see, so is the merchandise. It's always fair, and they run sales on the regular. I've been inspired to start putting aside some of my almost unworn or lightly worn clothes so that I can contribute to this community treasure, and keep the cycle going. I appreciate so much what they're doing to help animals. They absolutely rock for that. However, sometimes I'd rather skip this place in my thrifting because customer service is really hit and miss here. Some of the employees make you feel welcome and appreciated, then on the other hand some seem to relish what authority they're given and act like they're doing you a big service for you to be allowed into their domain. It's definitely gotten worse in that regard since covid. You can't try on clothes there anymore (they used to have dressing rooms) and if you return them, the only option is a store credit. read more

Really nice store! clothing is separated by size and are hung on wooden hangers. The staff is really nice. A fair amount of high end inventory sprinkled throughout. If you are looking for some records, they have quite a few - along with cds, dvds, and vhs. Love that the shop supports local animal charities. High Yield: A true gem thrift store in Avondale Estates that provides all kinds of cool things from stuffed animal, baskets, kitchen ware, clothing, scrubs, cool jewelry, shoes, etc. And the best part is, the proceed goes towards animal shelters and humane societies! Note the style here is more vintage, 80's, and old time feel. Their board game selection, basket selection, brooches, and craft yarn/cloth is their claim to fame here compared to other thrift shops! Prices are one of the lowest I've seen in any thrift shops across the nation. Clothes: I would say you'll find less party looks, clubbing gear, teenage wear, or young people's clothing here. You will find some really good blazers, long skirts, jeans, and more middle to older age clothing. I thought he shoes here were of good quality, classy and nice. Now their heels were NUTS- I've seen some outrageous heels and platforms that I've never seen in style anywhere- so for those into crazy heels, try this place out! They had some lovely wedding gowns too. I thought their blazers were more towards middle age to older- not much of a teenage young professionals urban look. But my own personal style fits here. Jewelry- I love the jewelry here. It had artsy classy brooches, nice necklaces, bangles, and bracelets. None of the cheap 1$ breaks easy plastic pastel candy like stuff you see in some bubble gum machine. Some of these brooches you can tell were worth a pretty penny and looked so modern and traditional. Baskets- If you're someone who loves baskets like I do, this is the place. We aren't talking about your typical Easter Sunday pastel baskets, but lovely woven different kinds of reeds, artistic, gorgeously shaped baskets that would look great in any living room and upscale decor. Got myself a woven clasp basket as my new lunchbox/art box. Stuffed animals: Total win. I found a domo for 2$... who finds a Domo for 2$ anywhere?? I also saw this adorable cuddly brown bear that I decided to forgo bc I had too many stuffed animals, but loved their stuffed animal selection here. Crafts: They sold knitting needles, LOTS of yarn, and many ends and fabrics here for anyone into quilting or cloth work. I would say this section eats up 1/10 of the whole store. Books: Had a generous lovely selection of books. Any bookworms out there should really hit here if they love books. BOARD GAMES: if you're into vintage board games, or board games period, then this is the place to pick some up to add to your collection. Electronics--they have bins of every charger/cable you can imagine. IF youre laptop needs a charger- you may likely find it battery charger here!! They sell scrubs!! For all my healthcare friends out there. They also have animals for adoption- a lovely maine coon tabby mix was adopted today when we were there after being there for 4 months. Second Life is the nicest (and cleanest) thrift store in Atlanta. They always have an inventory flush with high quality clothes and shoes. The staff works hard to give it a "boutique" feel throughout the store. To call Second Life just a thrift store is an understatement. I love this thrift store. I'm a bit sad to tell y'all about it, because it's one of my Atlanta hidden gems. On Wednesdays (I think?), most items are half-price. I've found serious steals here, like a 99 cent vintage trenchcoat and a $5 silk dress that retails for $100. I also love that they support animal rescue organizations. I came in for the first time today with my dog Bailey. There were quite a few regulars in here. This store is one of the most organized thrift stores I've ever been to! The higher end items are either behind the counter, under the counter (glass case) or in the locked cases by the window. I saw high end items from Dior shoes to Dre Beats (headphones) to Kate Spade purses. I walked out with 5 blouses, a pair of shoes, 1 pair of slacks, and a doggie water fountain (not half price-$7) for a grand total of $32! The best day to go is hands down WEDNESDAY's!!! The dressing rooms can get hectic with people waiting as I did not see a sign for clothing limits. They accept donations either up front in the bin or drive around the back and there are people sorting items back there. I didn't get the warm fuzzy "thank you" for my gigantic box of clothing and I can see how the cashier can rub people the wrong way. I found him to be very nice to myself and other people in the store, but I heard him talking smack about someone to another employee. The cashier said "that's okay you can tell him I said that!" Our dog loves visiting - seeking out his favorite employee, who's often ready with a treat! And because it's an animal rescue-focused business, they have a nice section of pet-related products. Some of the bigger players in the secondhand retail market pay their executives way too much at the expense of supporting their advertised mission (not mentioning names). There are two buildings to the store, with a parking lot in between. Take it from a frequent thrifter, this is a great thrift store-- my favorite one in the area. It is clean, bright, and well-organized. The staff is very nice. (I mean, they are doing this for the dogs and cats--it kinda goes without saying that they'd be nice.) AND the profits go to rescue animals. Good stuff all around. There is a boutique section for more high end items. The rest of the store has clothes, shoes, housewares, pet supplies, books, etc. Next door is their furniture/house decor store. This is the nicest second hand store I've ever been to. Its super clean and well-organized, with friendly volunteer staff eager to help you find what you're looking for. The clothes are sized fabulously and everything is in order, making it easy to find what you're looking for without much trouble. I lucked out on a day where if you spent $15, you got $5 off. I scored two awesome Ann Taylor suit jackets and a fabulous blouse for $15. Nice! Most importantly, shop here and you WILL support a good cause. I love that Second Life is so involved in the community and is willing to help out puppies who need to find their second life. :) I will definitely go back, I will definitely donate items to here instead of Goodwill, and I hope to host more volunteer dog adoption events here soon! read more
