After the building re-do, this Goodwill is clean and very well kept. No funny odors. The workers here organize and upkeep the order, sizes and colors. The cashiers also are very friendly. It's a charity second hand shop that also has many items with tags and labels still on them. Of course, the prices usually can't be beat. My fave items are the glassware, porcelain and seasonal items. I usually feel more in a festive spirit when I visit/leave this location. Goodwill is more than just finding a bargain as it creates jobs and helps the community finding the treasures, deals and items that are no longer found in stores and with a bit of creativity I've seen items transformed to very useable item which would end up in the landfill has found a loving home is the best. This newest location is a lovely addition at the top of Waialae Ave as I patiently watched it being built loved how it turned out as you make a left on Koko Head Ave, there is a drive thru to conveniently drop off your donations which takes you straight out to Wilhemina Rise and just to the left you'll see a parking area where there are a few dedicated stalls for you to park and shop in Goodwill. Obviously new this massive space is so clean and organized which I'm sure is a task not easily obtained is well kept and a delight to shop in it's such a lovely place to find many items some are brand new along with furniture and sporting goods is cool and love to see so many come here to shop is great. Other than that there are good fines, but you need to be savvy and know that they are selling some things more than that actual market value for example, if you see a scrub top you can actually find that online for cheaper or directly from the company for a better price. same with some tops where there are Walmart fines for lower prices and they sell it for higher at this place all in all a good store with good fines, but be smart about it. read more

Finding great deals on things I need (or want, occasionally) or things of value is something I love to do. Goodwill is one of those places to find the hidden gems. Goodwill is located at the top of Waialae Ave., between Koko Head Ave and Wilhelmina Rise. The donation drop off is beside the store on Koko Head Ave. You can park in the loading zone and drop off everything. You'll get the tax deduction paper along with a coupon for the store. The guys back there are friendly and courteous. There's free parking for the store in a private lot along Wilhelmina Rise, right after 3660 on the Rise. There's 8 dedicated stalls. I gotta say that I'm very happy Goodwill decided to renovate and modernize its store. I remember before it had an really bad stench and odor of all their old, musty items and structure. I guess new flooring and proper ventilation really renewed the whole store for an enjoyable shopping experience. All the items are very organized and not overly cluttered. It's more spacious and more cleaner than ever. It even sells brand new items that are excess from retail stores. Most of the items are clothes with a small books and media section, small furniture, electronics, kitchenware, sporting goods, and etc. The prices are decent, definitely better than Savers, and everyday will have 50% or 20% off certain colors on the price tags. Overall, Goodwill is an excellent store to find something you need at an excellent price. And we need to thank all the kind individuals donating their things and giving them a second chance instead of going straight to the garbage. The staff here are all friendly and pleasant. I don't shop and actually buy anything too often, but I still like to peruse and enjoy the hunt to find the gem. Everyone should give secondhand items a chance! Some items are brand new and sealed! Treasure hunting! The Goodwill donation spot in Kaneohe was closed for lunch, so I drove to Kaimuki to drop off a bag and, as a result, received a 20 percent off coupon! The Kaimuki Goodwill's donation area is on the right side of Koko Head Avenue. The free parking lot is on the right side of Wilhelmina Rise (about 10 labeled stalls) and the Front door of the store is on Waialae Avenue. The book and DVD area is on the left. It's elevated and can be accessed by ramp and steps. There was a grandpa reading to his granddaughter in the nook between the shelves...so cute! On another visit, a man rested on one of the blue reclined chairs...looks so relaxing! The majority of items for sale seems to be clothing. The household items and shoes are towards the back. The cashier is at the front by the dressing rooms. Come here and take a look! Help the community and save some money at the same time! Remember to get the Rewards Card! I used to love this Goodwill until it renovated and they started marking up their prices like crazy. I remember when their clothes used to be $3-8, but now prices start at much higher prices, even generic/no name brands. I do admire the renovated look - I used to get MAJOR allergies before the renovation, from all the dust but I don't have the problem anymore. The store itself is organized but with the crazy prices, I've hardly come here to shop anymore. During COVID-19, I heard that all of their donations go through a quarantine period before they enter the store & shelves, which is nice to know! read more

Probably the cleanest, most organized, and least sketchiest Goodwill I've been in. Parking is adequate in the back parking lot (a couple of stalls) and the municipal parking one block away. This one is located close to Chaminade and UHM, so quite a bit of these clothes are college-aged friendly. It's nice. But what really stood out to me were the books! Awesome selection. I cannot get over how ridiculous this place is. There are Gap tops that cost more than they do BRAND NEW at the Gap. I'm from nyc and all tops there are $3-5. Here they are $8-10. I found out after I got home that a bunch of them were very frayed or had a hole. There's a no return policy as well. I also tried to buy index card from them one pack is FOUR DOLLARS!! Mother day's, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas; hoards of new and used items put on display near holiday seasons. This Halloween, I was able to find accessories for Carl and Russell costumes from UP! Carl: four legged walking stick, square black glasses Russell: yellow collared shirt, orange hat, backpack accessories I saw a bunch of brand new costumes, accessories (hats, wigs, face paint, crowns, capes etc), and Halloween goods for sale. Target seems to be an overstock supplier, as there as TONS of stationary, kitchenware, furniture and clothing. Yep, I really liked this Goodwill, I wanted to spend my whole time there, but my daughter was timing me, so I was only able to score a cute top, a pillow and an umbrella (for the hot sun sitting on the beach) and the prices were very practical, compared to the prices back in California....I loved it!! I almost scored a Lynyrd Skynyrd rock t-shirt, brand new (reprint) but it was too big - about a 3 or 4 XL, :( Yup, this one and pretty much all the thrifts here in Oahu are on my bucket list (I'm that boring OK?) The area it was located at reminded me for some reason of Echo Park near Los Angeles, it had that artsy - bohemian feel to it and almost like East Los Angeles, when you drive up the hills, the streets get really narrow and the houses back yards are the views of the city, man that must really be nice to live out there!! You will love this store if: - You like long lines with only 1 or 2 cashiers up front. - You like getting yelled at by cashiers who are always irritable. - You enjoy going to a thrift store that is picked clean (all the good stuff is being moved online to Shopgoodwill.com and priced at least triple in store prices). - You enjoy ever increasing store prices that are already higher than eBay prices with new in box items in a glass case with no one there to help you look. Today, I went to their 50% off closing sale hoping to find some "good" prices. While I did find a few decent pre-owned items, having shopped here for years now, I've noticed more and more items being picked from the store and put up for auction for the highest prices possible on ShopGoodwill.com. This is an alarming indication of the future for Goodwill Honolulu locations because Goodwill was originally known for offering great bargains: they are now moving to squeezing as much money out of their customers for beat-up used items or "brand new with tags" items that are unwrapped and sometimes stained. (I'm honestly seeing cheaper clothes prices at Ross and Marshalls for NEW clothes, versus Goodwill's prices for used clothes which are more expensive - now that's saying a lot!) The front glass case is supposed to be their "premium" section. It's actually rejected Target store merchandise that couldn't even sell on clearance. This goodwill frequently prices ABOVE Target clearance prices! Wth! (For example, the Target clearance sticker says "$6.99" but they price at $9.97. They don't even bother removing the original Target price tags! LOL!) There is no system in place to look at items in the glass case. So I end up asking for help from the front cashiers...they are always mad and irritated at the world, apparently. Today, I was looking to buy 20-25 Target store video games from the front glass case. (I buy a lot in bulk - but not typically from goodwill!) Any way, I waited for about 10 minutes for help. I finally spoke up and asked if I could just pay and buy what I needed. First, the rep told me I had to "wait till the end of the line." Keep in mind today's line stretched all the way to the back of the store. I had actually been in this line earlier in the morning to checkout my first batch of items, then went out the store to refill the parking meter, then come back to shop! And how am I rewarded? BACK OF THE LINE, BUB! You're never getting service! Muahahahahaaaa! I'm not stupid either - I know there are nonstop people lining up - so basically the cashier is telling me she will never help me checkout. I finally ask one last time I just want to buy these games from the case and leave. THE CASHIER FULL ON SCREAMS AT ME. At this point, I tell her, "Never mind, forget it" and I just walk out of the store. NEVER yell at your customers. Especially those who wait for 10 minutes or more for help and ask, but not demand, for assistance. For shame Goodwill Hawaii. It looks like this location is closing this Monday the 22nd. Years ago I used to have positive experiences here but as of the past year (around the time of the pandemic) service and selection of items has gone completely to shit. As a result, so long Goodwill Kaimuki. You will be gone but you won't be missed. For a long time, I did not like this Goodwill. With a recent remodel, and some excellent finds as of late, it was finally time to write a review. This location is on the corner of Waialae and Koko Head. They have free parking, a fact we weren't aware for a long time. Driving toward Kahala, simply turn left after the store, and park in the paid lot behind 3660 on the Rise; along the wall immediately to the left are about 10 free spots for 1 hour at the store. This store is kept very clean and organized since the improvements. Upon entering, they have glass items to give it a classy feel. Books are in a dedicated wood-floored area inside the windows; DVDs and VHS are also here. Toys are at the back left, followed by furniture, home goods, knickknacks, and random items. Clothing is on the main floor, with fitting rooms to the right. Be sure to check the cashier counter for collectibles, jewelry, and more valuable items. The staff here is okay, better to just do your own thing. Prices are low and typical for Goodwill; be cautious for buyout items from Target and other stores, the prices are often too high, sometimes higher than in the original stores. For people who love to thrift and haven't been here in a while, be sure to give it another try! Recent treasures: gumball machine for $4.99 filled with marbles (I love marbles) and over $15 dollars in change inside; unopened retired LEGO set for $15, down from original price of $30. read more

Maybe these places have to be called vintage stores before people stop turning up their noses at them. We're willing to sleep on hotel sheets that a hundred other people probably slept on or put utensils in our mouths at restaurants that many people used, but the idea of buying someone second hand shirt or book makes some shudder. That's ok. Different strokes for different folks. It also leaves more items for me. Of all the Goodwill locations in Hawaii, the Kaimuki location seems to have the best selection. This particular store underwent a renovation recently, so it looks vaguely like a Ross Store which is not a bad thing. There's not a dedicated parking structure, so you need to find parking on the street but even someone like me with terrible parallel parking skills can find a spot if you come during the non-peak hours. The store has a great selection of books for adults and children. There are two comfortable chairs in the book section if you want to read a book or take a nap while your spouse looks around the store. Guess what my husband does. The children clothing section has quality items. Look at the pretty Gymboree brand white sweater I found for my daughter. I bought myself a lovely salmon pink Liz Claiborne work shirt for a third of what it would cost at department store. Score!! For example, I'm searching in the medium-sized dresses, and I find a small, and some other sizes that don't belong dea! I also saw mo' den a half dozen articles of clothing that appeared to be in obvious used condition, were stained, or had were hauna (stink). After having brunch at Jose's Cantina up the road, i decided to browse in the Goodwill store on Waialae Ave. It's in need of complete clean up and renovation. Yikes! things all over the place and in random order. No sense of planning to their madness. I'm so upset, I am thinking of contacting the headquarters. I used to love this place and have been going for decades... Suddenly the place is completely different... I'm all for for the make over, thats great and appealing only it comes along with an arrogant attitude from most of the employees, (managers) who put exorbitant prices on usual objects and don't hesitate to tell you off if your not agreeing (Ross is now cheaper) ... Well i regularly donate things to goodwill so i know they get their merchandise for free and think its a very ungrateful way to show their appreciation. Anyway, I boycott from now on. I consider myself those people who always get most things at the mall or at the Walmart or Target, but never would have considered Goodwill or other thrift stores in the community to buy things. They are there and you really don't pay attention to them, until you have that need to use them. I found myself here, just to check things out since I was on a budget due to recent events - and needed to scale down my buying alot. So, I was here, checking things out and seeing what I could get. I never thought I would come over here, but it's the sign of the times. I found some items, although they have been used, they are good and cheap. That's what comes from eBay at times, but it was in a thrift shop and not have to wait for it through the USPS or other means. Sometimes, it can be a hit and miss when you are looking for something in particular. I guess you can't really tell you are in a Goodwill, but then again, the atmosphere in there does feel like you are. I can tell you that being in here changes my perspective of how I buy things now. Retail is nice, but for those of us who need stuff, but at a much discounted rate, Goodwill is the way to go. I can never find anything I like at this location. I stopped by today to look for aloha wear, but there just were so few dresses, I was shocked. It also didn't seem organized by size. Maybe it had been at one point in the past, but all the sizes were scattered. I had to look though every single dress, so I guess I should be glad there weren't that many. I also don't understand their pricing strategy. Almost every dress was $9.99, except for a few that were $14.99. Parking -If you can't find street parking there are a few stalls in the parking lot behind 3660 on the rise (Wilhelmina drive) that accommodates Goodwill customers for stalls 72-79. I'm a thrifty girl and I don't mind spending hours in a thrift store finding just one item that I could possibly use. This is one of my more favorite thrift stores, but a bit far for me to drive to and its not as big as the Pearl City store. When I'm in the area, I definitely stop in to check out what they have. At my last visit here, I found a 50 pack of DVDs for $8.99 but since it was red tag week and the tag was red, it was actually $4.50! You can't beat that! I love finding something that you want in the 50% off tag color it just makes you smile, because you aren't just getting something for cheap for shopping at Goodwill, but you're getting a discount too. I previously found a pair of Tony Llama boots and Samsonite luggage at this location. Its a matter of having patience and opening your eyes to find something good. My theory is that if you're going to shop at a Goodwill, shop at the ones in the best neighborhoods as the people who live there will most likely donate higher quality items. This being the closest location to Kahala, I always come here to try my luck while thrifting. It's a large store, so there's A LOT of clothes to sift through. (Pushing all those hangers sure makes for a great arm workout!) My friends and I always find brand name items, and some still even have the tag on. I have a beautiful Alfani blouse that I always wear to work when I want to dress to impress, and I got it from Goodwill for only $6.99. (Sh**, it was ninety-nine cents!) My only real complaint is that the dressing rooms don't look the cleanest and sometimes the doors don't work...
