I had a great first experience selling with Preloved! Set up is on Saturday and it's best to get…read morethere around 15 minutes before it's opened to get a parking spot because parking is very limited. There are hangers and extra sales tags available if needed. After the deductions for the booth fee and the percentage taken by Preloved, I was very satisfied with my profit. I will definitely sell again!

Preloved is a neat concept. The consignment store features a number of booths that sellers can book…read moreto showcase their clothing, shoes and accessories to buyers which rotates on a weekly basis. Each booth is numbered and some sellers go so far as to set up small signs with their size ranges and brands offered or hang small banners from the top surface to attract customers. Each item is marked with their seller's booth number, the size, and the price. While some people may not like this approach to consignment shopping, I thought it was kind of nice to find booths that had roughly the same size and a similar taste in fashion rather than shuffling through a rack of one hundred pairs of pants. I will say that there was quite a range of prices with many pieces listed for $5 or $10 but also some items listed for $40+. I did expect to find more higher end brands but was overall satisfied with the condition of the clothes. The store was clean, well lit and organized during my visit. They have three dressing rooms with large mirrors so you can make sure items fit before purchasing as all sales are final. They could however do a better job posting more information on how the store operates. When I checked out I mentioned to the woman behind the counter that it was my first time visiting and she shared that items sometimes go on sale later in the week when sellers are getting close to the time that they must rotate their inventory around the weekend. With this in mind, if you're looking for a fresh drop stop by in the beginning of the week, if you're looking for a deal, stop by closer to Friday.

This organization should be ashamed of their selves! My family is not from Houston but a situation…read morehappened with one of my very close relatives that currently lives there. It took me days to encourage this family member to use her local resources to get some help with a situation that happened to her. She even had a terrible suicidal episode that morning because of her PTSD from what happened to her. She finally took my advice and contacted this organization 24/7 hotline. She was laughed at on the phone and was discouraged from reporting her incident. The night shift "supervisor" scheduled her an appointment with a counselor on November 10th to receive some help. That's 10 days later from the date of the phone call. Is that protocol? Is that how you are taught to assist your community members? I decided to call the hotline to speak with a supervisor, but I was met with the same lady. She refused to even provide her name to me so I can properly report her conduct on the phone. I'm not having to stay up tonight to sooth my relative from her experience and encourage to still report her incident. I hope no one has this experience and I hope this organization is shut down for a lack of knowledge and care for their community members. One word, DISGUSTING.

After working as a sub at the holly hall safe house and bringing classroom supplies, gifts and…read moreclothing donations, I saw the need and the benefit that community donations bring to the population served specifically at this location. After my assignment, I was told to bring the car load full of quality donations of children's books and clothing collected from homes in Bellaire (very affluent community in Houston). So I did. Or at least tried to. I walked into the main offices on Waugh and tho I was standing right at the reception window, 18" from some woman sorting mail, I was never acknowledged and it wasn't until another woman came in who was then helped before me, was I told in a dismissively contentious way that only new stuff was accepted. I wasn't asked if my stuff was new, despite 4 full boxes being exactly that, so I took the stuff to The Cottage Shop that serves The Women's Home instead. In addition, my mother tried to partner her non-profit Daughter's of the British Empire with this organization and attempted on 6 different occasions via phone email and letters to offer this group a lump sum cash distribution from their annual fundraisers which would have been over $5,000 but never once received any follow up. As a teacher in Houston ISDvery familiar with the social services offered to my students, I will never again attempt to work with or help this organization for its totally offensive treatment of me and it's disregard of cash donors.
