IF YOU TRULY NEED HELP - DO NOT, LET ME REPEAT, DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE. They say they will help…read moreyou but truthfully they throw you in a hotel that they knowingly has issues with car break-ins, though they will tell you otherwise. I had my catalytic converter cut out of my car overnight and found out from other women in similar situations that it was a regular occurrence that interval house WAS in fact aware of. Because I did not make enough money, and now had no working vehicle, they left me to be homeless because I could not relocate my entire life from Hartford county all the way over to Windham, almost an hour a day. I was referred to 211 and left to either live in a broken car in a hotel parking lot or go back to my abuser's house, because CT is a not a right to shelter state and 211 doesn't give immediate shelter. My worker, Edna, did absolutely NOTHING to help me find some kind of help in the county I lived in and needed to stay in due to the several doctors and daily appointments I could not just move to Windham. I ended up spending all of my savings just to stay in the hotel for as long as I could but without any friends or living family I now am living back in my abuser's home where I am struggling to survive on a daily basis. They will not help you. They will hang up the phone on you. You are better off being homeless or hoping to God you get someone else that maybe will help. This place did nothing to help someone who was abused their entire life. I was left to fend for myself and now I'm back to square one. I was told maybe they weren't the right program for me. Don't expect anything from them.

There are so many beautiful and unique items in this store. They sell home decor items, dog items, toys and clothing for babies, women's clothing and jewelry, and seasonal items. There's a nice selection of West Hartford themed items, if you're visiting here, or if you'd like to get someone a gift from West Hartford, this is the place. I personally loved the variety of candles and each one is labeled with a specific West Hartford location. They way the store is decorated is so attention detailed and lovely. The employees are pleasant, always ready to answer questions and chat. They also offer gift wrapping on anything you purchase. I love stopping by this store. While the items are a bit more costly, they are supporting a wonderful cause, and they are not easy to come across in other places. I'd say treat your self or someone you know to a little gift from Good Cause Gifts, you'll be doing a good cause.

I've had my community garden plot through KNOX (at the UCONN Law School) for the last four seasons and I'm so thankful to have that beautiful oasis in the middle of the city. Beyond the community gardens, KNOX spearheads tons of wonderful programs in Hartford including the Greater Hartford Green Team, Hartford Cleans Up, Trees for Hartford Neighborhoods, and tons of education initiatives. We're definitely lucky to have them in the city!

I've never partied in a greenhouse before but what a great way to emulate summer in the dead of winter. This exclusive "midsummer dreaming" fundraiser, adorned with dimmed lights, draped florals and "fairies" was filled with people ready to have a great time. The free coat check, unlimited beer and alcohol as well as tasty food and desserts was a wonderful recipe for mixing a mingling. I conversed with so many people, who like me, wanted to enjoy this unique party in perfect "spring time" weather. I absolutely loved the variety in the silent auction. I tried to win the lawn landscaping makeover.....but I was out bid. The food was delicious and the drinks were perfect. How could I ever forget....the DJ was flawless!!!! This event has sparked my interest in The Knox Park Foundation and will be eager to support them in the future.
