I went with about…read more10 of my coworkers, and we all had different "jobs" to do from helping with check out to running the stamps to cut out shapes for bulletin boards. What Classroom Central does, is provide free school supplies for teachers in underprivileged school districts. They cover about 7 districts from Union to Mecklenburg to even one in SC. They have everything set up for teachers to "shop" the store. They get a certain quantity of each item and can pick up to 25 different items. These items range from book bags, to one subject notebooks, to markers, pens, pencils, and crayons. All the items are donated and Classroom Central doesn't receive money from the state. Risa is in charge of the volunteers who work there, and she is a gem. She's very patient with people like me who ask a lot of obvious questions, and I can tell she appreciates everyone who comes in. If you ever have the chance to volunteer, please do so. They have a sign up online, and normally go in 4 hour shifts. Mine was 1:30-5.

This guys are a small batch coffee roaster based out of Southend and just rolled out "Joy" their coffee truck. For this particular special event, the truck was offering three types of waffles and coffee: dark, medium, light... with a hot or cold option. I also got to find out about the newest crave in the west coast "nitro coffee" so it coffee made like a beer. I will try it the next time I see JOY at an event. Looks like this company is working toward a coffee space... The climbs story is super interesting and lots of room for growth. Looks like everything they create is made with love and care. To provide people with a great product and contribute to people's experience of life. Looking forward to seeing them open up their own old world coffee bar. Exciting times to be living in southend!

Playground review: it's a super nice space and is designed for ages 2-12. There's a ton of different equipment for all abilities. Then we went inside and saw Guinea pigs, rabbits, and a lizard! Phenomenal educational opportunity!! There's a handful of places to visit within walking distance for eating and shopping. Very small town feel. Inside the office, the receptionist welcomed me and was new but friendly and professional. She helped me get set up on the app (still a work in progress) and gave me a quick tour. The big main spaces were already reserved but the phone booth space was adequate to my needs. The internet speed was decent but there was no ethernet cable for direct connection. The common kitchen area was clean and beverages were available as well as small snacks. Terry, the director for the space, was very helpful in troubleshooting issues with billing and reservations. Pricing was also reasonable for a one-day pass. Military veteran pricing is available. If I came to the city more often, I'd get a subscription because it's very close and isn't overcrowded like some co-working spaces.

I saw a lot of name brand clothing in the women's and children's section with some items as low as $1. My personal finds were a new with tags pair of white shorts from Marshall's for $4 and a pair of Columbia brand pants for $4 as well. I also got a few books for $1.25 each and a shot glass set priced at $3 for 5 glasses. They do offer colored tag specials like 50% blue or 75% off pink so check out the signage when you come in.
