This thrift store is really tiny. The furniture section is the biggest section. All the clothing is really low end and pretty shaggy looking. The most interesting brand I saw was Columbia. Would not recommend or return. read more

The store is set up nicely. The place is clean. Everything is organized into categories that make sense. They have a lot of furniture. The furniture looked nice and not badly dated. The housewares section in the center of the store had a little bit of everything. They had a seasonal section that had some nice Christmas items. There were racks and racks of clothing. I noticed some nice name-brand items feathered among the offerings. The book section had the books nicely displayed and easy to peruse the titles on their spines. The parking lot was easy to get in and out of and the parking was sufficient. This place is okay! read more

This location seems very unorganized. There were items thrown everywhere. The clothing has very little rhyme or reason. There were signs that said skirt, but the racks contained shorts. There was a large selection of clothing, but very little accessories, and shoes. The furniture area was well stocked with sofas, chairs, dressers and a vintage row of auditorium chairs. I was unimpressed. I'll stick to value village or GW. Oh, and there's a VERY distinct vintage thrift odor when you walk through the door. I'll pass. read more

Wanting to support a local thrift store, a friend and I stopped in to the Salvation Army off Central. We were so happy the GPS took us a route where we had to do a right turn in, otherwise we would have struggled to cross the busy street to get there. The parking lot was clearly marked and there were only a few spaces open when we went on this Saturday afternoon. Once inside, the store is pretty big and clearly marked with hanging signs for men's, women's, kids, etc. The clothes are clearly organized by color and sleeve length or pant/shorts. There were some shoes in the back and housewares in the middle of the store. The big section up front was filled with an array of pretty good quality furniture fairly priced. We didn't get anything today, but will be back now knowing what to expect. Highly recommend going when you have time to dig through things and go consistently if you are searching for something in particular, as it seemed they may go through inventory pretty quickly at this location. read more

I would recommend this location if you're looking for home goods, maybe clothes, but if you want to set up a donation pick up, be aware, they will make it seem like they will show up, then don't, and give you the run around, act like you never called for a pick up! I called the morning of to confirm, he knew my info, and even gave me a time frame of 1:00-4:00!! Wtf?? Total incompetence!! After that they tell me to call the next morning to confirm pick up again, and no one answers the phone!! I really don't appreciate this, after waiting all afternoon, even arranging everything to make it easier to move out. With such a variety of "all the things", you're sure to find something you didn't know you needed. I'm a sucker for a good thrift store and a bargain, and this has become one of my favorites. I wanted to report a very upsetting experience I had in the Salvation Army store on Central Avenue in Charlotte NC on Saturday July 11th, 2020. I have lived in this area for over 20 years and been a professional business owner and former Bridal shop owner in retail. Every Saturday that I enter this store, which is near a company I manage I am noticing the same intolerable and disrespect from the manager and assistant. I have had enough. I entered the store around 5:11pm which is my normal on a Saturday. The manager EVERY time starts around 515pm yelling to the top of his lungs and walking around telling folks the store is closing at 6pm to bring there items to the front . ( 45 minutes early, very disruptive to your shopping and very unappreciative of your shopping experience ) . Sadly when people ask him about it he actually BRAGS and says I do this every day! Well Saturday, I continued to shop as the store was not closing and my mind set is " It is obvious he cares nothing about social distance as he wants everyone to herd up to the front like cattle and spread COVID. Everyone in the store WAS NOT in a mask as shoppers. Unbelievable he cared more about the ability to leave at 6:01 pm but not COVID safety! Around 545pm and trying to still tone out his repeat yelling I simply ask the Assist Manager " Since you all are as always rushing folks out the door, and not allowing folks to even shop in peace if my items don't fit can I bring them back for an exchange. I don't want money back but you are rushing folks out.?" She very nasty and with no compassion say " NO, we don't do that per Salvation Army ( By the way even Goodwill allows exchange policy ). I then say to her " Then I will need to try these items on". I prob had about $100.00 worth of clothing in my cart. This woman the assistant then gets totally rude with the help of the manager and said " I WANT TO GO HOME AT 6:00pm, you need to pay , we are closed !". I look at my watch and it is only 5:50 pm. So I say to her well if you dont do exchanges I will need to try these items on. The cashier chimes in to her and says " WE ARE CLOSED". It was not at this time even 6:00pm on the dot. I ask for a fitting room and go to that area. Can you believe the manager actually comes back to where I am an as a female undressing , stands by my door still YELLING and proceeds to tell me i need to come to the front and pay as they are closed? I was shocked, concerned for my safety as I am only 50% dressed and appalled what is that door had opened with me naked! When I come to the front because now the lady is yelling with him, stating she is ready to go home I need to pay and leave. I proceed to give the cashier the items i select and ask all 3 for the name of the Regional. They refuse to give me paper, pen or the information. The lady first lies and says she is the manager, Then when I tell her I am in management, this is not acceptable, that any store that tech has customers is not closed unless you are stating you plan to lock me in the store. The actual mgr Kevin jumps in with yet another rude remark " You need to pay and we need to go home". At this point and realizing they could care less , I took my camera and photo all of them. The question needs to be asked 1. Why are you in management if you have no desire to serve the public 2. Why are you yelling at folks daily starting at 515pm by walking the aisle in such a manner to make folks uncomfortable 3. Why is a man allowed to stand outside a female dressing area 4. Are they trained to lie and not give customers with concerns the corporate contact information? 5. If I was out the door at 6:11pm after being disrespected as a paying customer 6. Are they given CSR training 7. Why did that cashier ( notice in the photo ) feel he need to guard the door. Unacceptable ****** Please have someone give me a call or email me your contact information and I will reach out **** This behavior of your staff needs to stop immediately. Thrift stores are always hit or miss, it's the nature of the game. Good visit yesterday at the new location, easy to find, look for the Salvation Army sign near a pawn shop across the street from Bistro La Bon. I found some McDonald's glasses, Mayor McCheese, the Hamburglar and Captain Crook. Captain Crook now lives at Tommy's Pub. I love taking photos of baby Jesus in the manger and I saw a glass manger scene, so of course, I am over there taking photos, as I looked closer, I realized it was really cool, I bought it for my mama. I loved the way the store was oriented. It was on a corner, but when we walked in, the racks were all oriented at a diagonal. Invited you to walk in to them. The register was centered in the middle. Each zone was clearly marked. Racks were neatly organized. Easy to look through. Had Hot Zone moments throughout. The books, kitchen, home decor, etc.. was neatly arranged. The furniture had a great selection. I really enjoyed that they set the floor like a show room. Enticed you to want to buy even if just window shopping. Next time, I'm in the area I will definitely be stopping by. Bought a lot of keepers for under $20.00!! read more

Frustrating because none of it is sized. But I was there on a Wednesday and all clothes were half off, which totally made up for it. Didn't have enough time to go through it all, but got done gems. So they just did a complete makeover on this Thrift Store and I've gotta say, having seen my share of bargain basements thru college and hunting for that special theme party, I'm impressed and can only hope they keep this place just a nice a year from now. Laid out like a department store, the front section is devoted to furniture and electronics while the middle is all clothing and home wares with fitting rooms and shoes making up the back. I found the clothing racks to be logically laid out and organized by both size and color. Men's half on one side of the store, women's on the other. They also had a nice selection of hats and bags on top of the clothing racks. Even the home chotchkies were organized by color, which at least made them interesting to look at when grouped this way. In all, I suppose there is no such thing as a guarantee at a thrift store, it's always a little luck of the draw as to their inventory. But I had good luck going for tacky tourist shirts for both the wife and I. Do note the price tag was a little high for a thrift store ($5 for a button up shirt, for example), but you are basically making a donation to a charity, so there is a good cause there. I give them a hand for investing in an up fit and taking the time to make the inside nice and accessible, I know where to go for my next theme party. read more

I don't usually do business with this organization but I decided to go there in search of some rugs and furniture. I lucked up on a nice area rug, side chair, and coffee table for my living room on the first two trips and was very pleased with my purchases. I went back on another trip and purchased a dining set that I liked very much. It was very attractive with a marble top table and suede chairs. Turns out this was a rip-off, One leg on the table is broken and it appears that someone had tried to glue it on to get it to last long enough to sell. The legs on several chairs are loose which is fine. They won't be a problem to repair. I know they say inspect carefully because all sales are final with no refunds or exchanges. But who is going to turn up a table and chairs to ensure all legs are secured. In fact, there was no way I could have checked the legs of the table because it is too heavy to lift. It was after the merchandise had been loaded on my vehicle that I was told to be careful with the legs. I didn't know just how careful until I got the set home and my husband and I unloaded it. I feel that if the damage was brought to my attention after the fact it could have been done before I made the purchase. Now I am stuck with a table that I will have to find legs for and chairs where I will have to repair the legs. I wouldn't mind the repairs had I not paid such a high price for the set, If I do return to this establishment for more items I will be sure to check out every detail of the merchandise especially if the price is high. read more

Great place and a great resource for the community. While I have never been into the actual store, I've taken many things to their drop-off donation center located behind the store. It is super convenient to drop off my items and assuring to know they are going to support a great organization. This Salvation Army also has an Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) on the other side of the store; the ARC helps men in recovery. I've had the opportunity to take a tour of the facility and learn how the Salvation Army helps those in need. My primary position allows me to partner with them and they work as an internship site for my marriage and family therapist interns to provide counseling services at that location. The Salvation Army uses money made from their store to help fund their great programs. I'm happy to support them as they support others. Win, win. read more

After seeing ads wanting donations in both the newspaper and on tv, my wife and I had quite a bit to donate after some remodeling and our daughter moving out. We called only to be told that we were out of their pick up area (theres a store about 10 miles from our house) and we would have to bring it to them. Wait a minute, you are paying to place ads in the newspaper and on tv begging for donations because donations are down because of the economy being bad and here we have all kind of stuff to donate and a store 10 miles away and you won't come pick it up???! We called Habitat for Humanity and they came out and picked everything up within a few hours of us calling them, and thats who we will donate to from now on. read more

I have been in in this place several times hoping to catch it on a good day. Yet, I never have. The racks seem bear compared to other places and I never find anything worth much. The one item I did find was a beautiful sweater, but that was after five trips. Being as I am a busy woman, I don't have time or the gas for one item per five trips. No thanks! read more

I love thrifting and Salvation Army is my favorite thrift shop because of the half priced clothing ok Wednesday's but this location isn't the best. The clothing isn't well organized at all compared to other locations plus there always clothing all over the floor making it hard to push a cart around. And speaking of carts, they're always hard to find. Last time I went I had to hunt on down in the parking lot myself. The clothes also seem priced a little higher than other Salvation Armies. Women's jeans average $7 a pair regardless of brand, I'm used to them being a few dollars cheaper. read more

When did the Salvation Army go all classy and expensive?? I randomly saw this place and figured I might as well duck in since I have so little furniture I'm sitting in a beach chair typing on my computer right now. This place will be of no use however, since the cheapest piece of furniture goes for $200+. I'd say the median price is about $350 or more. I bought some random plate that seemed to be interesting and I'm now putting my fruit on (before it was a plastic bag). The people there aren't exactly friendly, slightly below the personality of an ATM -- no offense to ATMs meant. Maybe the second had clothing selection and price is better, but I'll stick to the Goodwill if I want cheap stuff. read more

As Tonya said, Hit or Miss is the name of the game w/ thrift stores but this new Salvation Army has really upped the ante! When I went on Monday, there were some BEAUTIFUL wicker outdoor chairs for $135 EACH (if it was $135 for 4, I'd be 5 staring the hell out of this review right now), along with some other large, beautiful furniture pieces that we priced $200-450. While the selection is changing, the quality is always good but the prices have gone up on the furniture which saddens this cheap girl. Knick knacks and paintings are all very reasonable, and if you're into clothes shopping at these places, they've got racks for miles. Always worth a stop in! read more
